Wright-Giemsa Stain is a modified Romanowsky stain used to stain cellular elements in peripheral blood and bone marrow. The most critical components of these stains are methylene blue, azure A and eosin Y dyes. The eosin Y dye stains the cytoplasm of cells an orange to pink color. The methylene blue and azure A dyes stain the nucleus in shades of blue to purple. Wright-Giemsa stain will also detect inclusion bodies in red blood cells, parasites, and other organisms. This staining protocol requires a buffer and rinse and is suitable for automated stainers or manual staining methods. Our Wright-Giemsa formula performs best with our pH6.8 buffer.
