The original skilled forelimb reach task was originally invented to assess motor assessment in rodents. Rodents are required to reach through a gap and grasp a food reward or level. In this updated, automated version, computer-supervised software trains and guides the subject for testing. Our automated update reduces the need for manual analysis of endpoint data points and results. Using this apparatus, you can assess the following:

Acrylic Chamber
  • Wall: clear acrylic 1⁄4 inch thick

Pellet Dispensor
  • A linear motor is mounted upside down to push a pellet to a pellet tray. The end of the actuator has a steel rod connected to the pellet delivery arm. The pellet delivery rod is cupped at the top to accommodate a single pellet.
  • A fiber optic sensor is mounted inside the rod to detect the successful filling of a pellet.
