Record Details

When to use

  • Documenting disease events and treatment outcomes
  • Creating standardized health records for regulatory audits
  • Tracking recurring symptoms across production cycles
  • Generating records for veterinary consultations

Do not use for

  • As a diagnostic tool — consult a fish health professional for diagnosis
  • For real-time monitoring — this generates static PDF records

Be specific with symptoms

Instead of "fish look sick," describe color changes, lesion location, behavioral changes (e.g., "white patches on dorsal surface, reduced feeding at AM check").

Record treatment dosages precisely

Include concentration (mg/L), duration, and method of application. This is critical for tracking efficacy and avoiding resistance.

Follow up and close the record

A health record without a resolution note is incomplete. Document whether treatment was successful, if mortality occurred, or if the case was escalated.

Fish Health Documentation in Aquaculture

Systematic health record keeping is a cornerstone of aquaculture biosecurity. The OIE (World Organisation for Animal Health) recommends that all aquaculture operations maintain individual or batch-level health records to support disease surveillance, treatment tracking, and epidemiological investigation. Digital or printed records should be stored for a minimum of 3 years.
