Lucius Caesar from the NC Museum of Art. Sculpture is located in a glass case. The label says "the grandson of Emperor Augustus, Lucius died while still a child. Wearing a fillet on his head in this portrait, Lucius is seen perhaps as a Greek ephebe, or a military student, in preparation for the role he was expected to play as heir to the throne. Customary for depictions of the royal family during the reign of Augustus, the similarity of facial shape and features, even the haircut, to those of Emperor Augustus was intended to reinforce the dynastic connection."
