Wmid-55b240 - Medieval strap end
A complete copper alloy strap end of Medieval dating (AD 1200 to AD 1400). The strap end is sub rectangular in shape. It has a split end at the top, which contains some soil and some mineralised textile. The split end has a V shaped top. Two circular sectioned copper alloy rivets are present in the spilt end. These have a diameter of 2.7 mm. The lower end is V shaped, with a central point. The front has been decorated with an engraved border beneath the rivets and transverse lines along the edge. The reverse is flat and undecorated.
