Tuam Window Jamb - Left

The window of St. Mary's abbey Tuam is a unqiue example of an Irish Romanesque Window. Possibly built sometime after 1184, was later reporposed as path of the porch of the medieval building built in the 14th C. The structure underwent reconstruction again possibly inthe 1600s, 1800s and 1900 during sequential building works at the site. A colum fragment was built into the wall above the window indicating it is a reconstructed feature. The carving remarkably preserved.
