Hydraulic Capstan

Located at the east end of Greenland Dock, Rotherhithe, London. From the nearby plaque: "HYDRAULIC CAPSTAN. LArge ships were helped in and out of the Greenland Lock using hawsers hauled in by this capstan and the one across the lock.
