McKim's Free School

Built in 1833, McKim's School is the most archaelogial correct Greek style building in Baltimore by William F. Small and William Howard. The school was established at the bequest of Quaker merchant John McKim. The school was opened to low income youth of both sexes regardless of religion. During the Civil War, the school was converted into a childcare facility. In 1924, the Friends offered the building as a place of worship to the Presbyerian congregation. Presently, the building serves as a variety of education and recreational purposes supported by the United Presbyterian Church, the Society of Friends and others.
