Important features of Dromaeosaurus albertensis include: 1, a deep and thickened premaxilla; 2, a stout quadratojugal; 3, anteroposterior short lateral lamina of the maxilla anterior to the antorbital fossa; 4, presence of either an enlarged promaxillary fenestra or an extremely anteroventrally placed maxillary fenestra with no promaxillary fenestra depending on interpretation of identity of opening; 5, presence of a distinct surangular foramen (char. 74.1)—a deinonychosaurian synapomorphy; 6, a laterally exposed splenial (char. 75.1)—a deinonychosaurian synapomorphy.
