Wmid-31976f - Medieval Ampulla

An incomplete lead or lead alloy pilgrims ampulla, of medieval dating (AD 1175 to AD 1500). It is sub rectangular in shape, with an incomplet horizontal linear upper edge and a narrowed neck, and circular body. This horizontal edge of the ampulla appears to be pushed together. Decoration is faintly present on both sides. The obverse is undistinct but has a cross hatched background, and the reverse depicts a large leaf design inside cross hatching. A casting ridge is present around the sides of the ampulla.
