Medieval Castel Beseno, Italy
Castel Beseno is located near Trento in the Trentino Alto Adige region of northern Italy. This fortification was built around the XII century and since then it allowed the safekeeping of two very important valleys: Val d'Adige (which connects Italy to Austria) and Val Lagarina. A famous event took place at the end of the XVIII century when the high ground advantage given by the position of this castle allowed the Austrian army to block the Napoleonic troops from advancing towards Italy.
