Male head of a herm

Male head of a herm from the window reveals of the Berlin Bauakademie. The object is made of terracotta and was made in the 1830s. From 1831 to 1836, the Bauakademie building designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel was built in place of the Altes Packhof at the Schleusenbrücke. Based on drawings by Schinkel and subsequent models by various artists, part of the terracotta decoration of the building was produced in the pottery factory of August Cornelius Gormann.
