Data and results for manuscript "Multi-frequency electrical impedance tomography as a non-invasive tool to characterize and monitor crop root systems "

Root systems are essential in nutrient uptake and translocation, but are difficult to characterize non-invasively with existing methods. We propose electrical impedance tomography (EIT) as a new tool for the imaging and monitoring of crop root systems. In a laboratory experiment we demonstrate the capability of the method to capture physiological responses of root systems with high spatial and temporal resolution. We conclude that EIT is a promising functional imaging technique for crop roots.

This package contains measured raw EIT data, electrical imaging results, spectral results from the Debye decomposition, and the Python scripts used to generate the plots in the manuscript.

Data and results for manuscript "Flow dynamics in hyper-saline aquifers: hydro-geophysical monitoring and modeling"

The paper presents a general methodology that will help understand how freshwater and saltwater may interact in natural porous media, with a particular view at practical applications such as the storage of freshwater underground in critical areas such as semi-arid zones around the Mediterranean sea. The methodology is applied to a case study in Sardinia and shows how a mix of advanced monitoring and mathematical modeling tremendously advance our understanding of these systems.

This package contains the raw cross-hole time-lapse ERT data, additional field data, the ERT inversion results of the field data as well as the modeling data in terms of the concentration distribution of the density-dependent flow and transport model and the inverted synthetic ERT monitoring results.

རྦ་ (2011.1). Transcription of རྦ་བཞེད་ manuscript (Ziling 2011) : version 1.0

This text is a transcription of the རྦ་བཞེད་ reproduced as a photo-lithograph facsimile in volume 36 of Bod gyi lo rgyus rnam thar phyogs bsgrigs gnyis pa, published from Ziling in 2011 (see TBRC W1PD153537). This text is closely related to dBa' (2000) in palaeographic terms; the narrative also corresponds up to folio 4v., after which the text breaks off and turns to events in the life of the Buddha without significant punctuation or a change in writing style. This shows that the exemplar already combined the text of the རྦ་བཞེད་ with the second text and that the subsequent parts of the narrative had already been lost in the exemplar. The present copy can be assigned to the circa fourteenth century. We refer to this as rBa (2011.1) in our publications.

Like most fluorescent organic molecules, these amino acids also tend to undergo transitions into dark meta-stable states, such as triplet and photo-radical states. While this may be perceived as a problem, these transitions are also highly environment-sensitive and can be used as an additional set of parameters, reflecting interactions, folding states, and immediate environments around the proteins. In this work, we applied the transient state monitoring (TRAST) technique, analyzing the average intensity of tyrosine emission under different excitation modulations, to characterize the photo physics of tyrosine for such readout purposes. By investigating how the dark state transitions of tyrosine varied with excitation intensity and solvent conditions we established a photophysical model for tyrosine. Next, we studied Calmodulin (containing two tyrosines), which upon calcium binding takes a more folded conformation. From these TRAST experiments, performed with 280nm time-modulated excitation, we show that tyrosine dark state transitions clearly change with the calmodulin conformation, and may thus represent a useful source of information for (label-free) analyses of protein conformations and interactions.

The code is organized by figure into subfolders, and any data needed to reproduce a figure should be included in that folder. All original codes are distributed under the GNU General Public License. Codes written by others and utilized here are redistributed under their original license according to the terms and conditions therein, and are provided in the folder 'external.'

Any questions about original Matlab codes published here should be directed to Benny Guralnik, benny.guralnik@gmail.com.
