Bearing capacity of rectangular concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) and dumbbell shaped CFST under axial compression, eccentric compression, and pure bending stress states

The fiber model method utilizes material constitutive relationships and internal force synthesis techniques to accurately and conveniently determine the internal force of the section, without the need to establish an element stiffness matrix. It is simple and practical and has been widely used in the bearing capacity analysis of concrete-filled steel tubes (CFST). The material constitutive relationship is an important factor determining the calculation accuracy of the fiber model method. This article studies and establishes a modified model for the constitutive relationship of CFST materials, and establishes the fiber model method for the mechanical performance analysis of rectangular CFST and dumbbell CFST, respectively. Based on the geometric size parameters and material strength parameters (such as "length", "Diameter", "Width", "Thickness", "Yield strength", "Compressive strength", etc.) in the experimental database, the fiber model method is used to calculate the bearing capacity of the component and compare it with the "Test values" in the experimental data to verify the calculation accuracy and applicability of the fiber model method and the established constitutive relationship.

The test database contains a total of 6 tables. Concrete block and cramp model on planet Mars
This model is an illustration of the concrete block and iron cramp recently found in NASA pictures from planet Mars. The concrete block is quite big, no need to zoom in the photo. It's probably an old (60's) traffic sepparator pole, horizontal planks missing. As for that object on top of it, it's probably an iron cramp. ( https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bauklammer ) I want to share this on my site, http://marsconspiracy.tk Original NASA images: https://mars.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?rawid=1450MR0071820330703194E01_DXXX&s=1450 https://mars.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?rawid=1450MR0071820120703173E01_DXXX&s=1450 https://mars.nasa.gov/msl/multimedia/raw/?rawid=1450MR0071820340703195E01_DXXX&s=1450 This model was made using the free tools available at https://www.tinkercad.com Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Numerical analysis and machine learning techniques on the behavior of FRP confined circular reinforced concrete columns

This study presents a comprehensive nonlinear finite element study on the behavior of circular fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) confined reinforced and plain concrete columns under concentric loads. For this investigation, 65 test models with a combination of spiral hoop reinforced concrete, concrete with longitudinal and circular hoop reinforcements, and FRP confined plain concrete were designed . Four different machine learning (ML) techniques were developed to predict the ultimate axial load and strain at the tensile rupture of FRP. The accuracy of the proposed finite element model (FEM) was verified by comparing it with the existing experimental test results. The impact of unconfined concrete strength, hoop reinforcement ratio, thickness of FRP, and spiral hoop spacing on the confinement effectiveness, load-carrying capacity, and ductility behavior of circular FRP confined concrete columns were demonstrated. The parametric analysis found that axial load capacity of FRP-confined concrete columns increased when unconfined concrete strength increased, while low-strength confined concrete achieved a larger strength improvement ratio than high-grade concrete. The investigation also revealed that the thickness of the confining FRP has a significant impact on the confinement effectiveness of hoop reinforcement. The correlation between the FEM and experimental tests yielded 99.60% R2 for ultimate axial load and 93.40% R2 for ultimate strain. Extra tree regressor (ETR) and gradient boosting of ML yielded accurate predictions of ultimate axial load and strain at the tensile rupture of FRP compared to other approaches, but ETR has the best comprehensive prediction performance using the comprehensive ranking system. Overall, ETR can be applied in the ultimate axial load and strain prediction of circular FRP confined reinforced and plain concrete columns under concentric loads, conserving resources, time, and cost through laboratory testing.

Concrete Statue of Liberty
At a strip mall across town is this concrete Statue of Liberty. I've driven by it for years. I decided to do a quick and dirty model of it. By the time I got to the strip mall, the sun was close to setting and I had to hurry. As you can see, South Dakota seasons are hard on decorative concrete sculptures like this one. The agragate under the surface of the concrete is starting to show in places where the concrete has worn away. The protective paint is patchy giving moisture more places to penetrate and wear down the concrete. This model is just the latest generation cast from a prototype I first saw in the 1980s when the Statue of Liberty's centennial was approaching. Liberty fever was on the rise and someone cashed in by creating this stylized replica. It has been recreated in aluminum, fiberglass and concrete. It can be found in numerous statuary and garden centers. Like the Boy Scouts copper replica, it is kind of ugly but it grows on you. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

RK17 F0001 Concretion - Stage 2
RK17 F0001 is a large concretion found during the archaeological excavation of the Rooswijk in 2017. The concretion was excavated by conservators and archaelogists in the conservation facility. In 2017 and 2018, the shipwreck of the Rooswijk, a 300 year old Dutch East India Company (VOC) ship which sank on the treacherous Goodwin Sands in January 1740 off the coast of England, was excavated by an international team of maritime archaeologists. Post-excavation work began straight after each excavation campaign, focusing on ex-situ research, the conservation and analysis of the artefacts and will continue until the end of the project. The #Rooswijk1740 project is funded and led by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (Ministry of Education, Science and Culture), in collaboration with project partner Historic England and UK-contractor MSDS Marine. EVOL Concrete Block Smithfield
A concrete block spray painted to look like a housing estate by artist EVOL. Located on West Poultry Avenue, Smithfield, London. Date: 2011 The block (many more than shown in this model) has been here for nearly 8 years and are now very faded. Originally they were used to protect the Crossrail work site. They are now in the area of the development of the new Museum of London. The workers here say they would now be considered illegal as they are not fixed down and have no lifting points. They could weigh as much as a tonne and would be very hard to move. It is not clear who owns the blocks. Possibly the Corporation of London? http://evoltaste.com/ https://londonist.com/2011/11/street-art-evols-tower-blocks-at-smithfield-market 53 photos taken in July 2020 with a Sony a6000 and processed in Reality Capture.
