Data and list of commands required to run the Mefite d'Ansanto gas dispersion case with VIGIL v1.3.7
<p>This dataset include input file to run a probabilistic hazard assessment of CO2 dispersion in the Mefite d'Ansanto area, Southern Italy. </p> <p>Alongside the input file, pre-retrieved meteorological data for the 1000 simulations run in this study are available in the folder "simulations". These can be used to reproduce the results presented in the manuscript [EDIT] by means of the VIGIL commands listed in the file "commands.txt". In this case, after the simulations.tar.gz is decompressed into the folder "simulations", the user can avoid running weather.py (see the first command in commands.txt) and should not modify nor cancel the file days_list.txt. A completely new run is instead performed if all the VIGIL scripts are executed. </p> <p>The archive "selected_outputs.tar" contains all the statistical outputs (ECDF and persistence) of the Mefite hazard study in .grd format and the related plots as produced by VIGIL. Part of these outputs have been used to produce the figures of the manuscript. </p>

CLS INFRA T3.5 Interviews: Understanding User Requirements Beyond Academia
<p>The CLS INFRA research team at Trinity College Dublin, Jennifer Edmond, Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin and the director of the Trinity Centre for Digital Humanities, and Vera Yakupova, Research Assistant at the Trinity Centre for Digital Humanities, conducted in the framework of the project a series of 15 focussed interviews with professionals beyond academia to understand user needs for computational literary studies beyond academia, and to develop user scenarios in this respect.</p> <p>This task’s team works closely with Work Packages 2 and 3 to profile potential users of infrastructure for literary analysis from beyond the academic sphere, as maximising use and impact is a key driver for sustainability. CLS INFRA has great potential to contribute to the work of many professions, and take advantage of the opportunity to maximise the use and impact of the infrastructure would function as a key driver for sustainability. The gap to be bridged, however, is in the understanding of what these non-professional researchers would need in terms of support and contextualisation of materials in order to be able to use them. Based on research into applied uses of literature (fiction), narratives, and storytelling, we profiled potential users of infrastructure for literary analysis from beyond the academic sphere. The research findings are detailed in our Report "D3.5 User needs beyond academic research for Computational Literary Analysis". </p> <p>This dataset includes transcripts of the 15 interviews with and without mark ups. For context and as supporting information for this research, the dataset also includes a documentation on the interviews ("Documentation: 'Users Beyond Academia' Interview Dataset"), a summary of the interview report ("3.5 Interview Report Summary"), and the presentation on this research at the DH2023 conference, July 10-14, in Graz, Austria.</p>

INVITE: User needs and requirements
<p>This data was collected during the qualitative interview-based survey that was conducted in the framework of INVITE, which aimed at revealing the needs and requirements of prospective users and stakeholders of the OI2 Lab. In particular, a stratified purposeful sampling methodology was employed in order to include diverse OI stakeholders of the quadruple helix (i.e. from businesses and investors in the private sector over to academia and public authorities as well as civil society) and across different regions in Europe. Data in the form of interview transcripts was collected by means of semi-structured interviews and encompass information on the different ways in which OI actors are currently engaged (or not) in OI, various enablers / barriers that appear to be fostering / hindering their participation in OI as well as insights into the perceived knowledge, skills and support that they may need in order to successfully adopt and apply OI.</p>

<p>Thirteen cat participants wearing GPS devices were monitored through ethologically-informed observations, designed specifically to measure the behaviour of the animals with the biotelemetry tags. Here, findings from the behavioural analysis are presented.</p>
Artifacts: An Approach for Reviewing Security Related Apects in Agile Requirements Specifications of Web Applications
<p>Abstract—Defects in requirements specifications can have severe consequences during the software development lifecycle. Some of them result in overall project failure due to incorrect or missing quality characteristics. Security is one of those uality characteristics that need to be considered in early phases. There are several concerns that make security difficult to deal with; for instance, (1) when stakeholders discuss general requirements in (review) meetings, they are often not aware that they should also discuss security-related topics, and in the rather rare cases they are aware (2), they typically do not have sufficient security expertise. This picture is even more challenging in agile development contexts, where lightweight documentation are typically involved. To address these issues, we designed an approach that considers user stories and security specifications as input and relates those user stories to security properties via Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques. Based on the related security properties, our approach then identifies high-level security requirements from the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) to be verified afterwards. In a last step, the verification of the generated security requirements is then conducted via a focused reading technique. We finally validate our approach via a controlled experiment comparing the effectiveness and efficiency of novice inspectors (we used two different groups of students) verifying security aspects in agile requirements using our generated reading techniques against using the complete list of OWASP high level security requirements and a the same list of defect types embedded in our technique. The (statistically significant) results indicate that using the reading technique has a positive impact (with large effect size) on the performance of inspectors in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. </p> <p>This repository also contains:</p> <p>Artifacts used and results of the experimental study of the paper entitled "An Approach for Reviewing Security Related Apects in Agile Requirements Specifications of Web Applications".</p>

Supporting information for: The Time Requirements for Primary Care Consultations: Initial Sick Child Visits in Low- and Middle-income Countries Using the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) Clinical Algorithm
<p>Few studies have examined the time required for primary care consultations; none have focused on sick child visits in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This project begins to fill that gap by providing evidence-based estimates of the time needed for initial visits with under-five infants and children at public or not-for-profit facilities in countries using the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) clinical algorithm.</p> <p>Estimates of the mean expected duration of IMCI consultations require (a) classification profiles, i.e., tabulations of the gold standard health issues presented by patients less than 5 years old; (b) lists of the tasks included in applicable versions of the IMCI algorithm and the conditions that elicit them, and (c) an estimate of the time needed to perform tasks with no pre-defined minimum duration. The latter requires, in addition to classification profiles, information on rates of task performance and the mean observed duration of consultations.</p> <p>The IMCI clinical algorithm and the research surrounding it provide unusually rich sources of such information. Developed in the mid 1990s by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund, the IMCI algorithm seeks to reduce child mortality in LMICs by improving the technical quality of primary care services. For infants less than 2 months old, the algorithm focuses on bacterial infections, feeding problems, low weight, and, in some versions, jaundice. For children 2-59 months old, the foci include acute respiratory infections, especially pneumonia; diarrhea; fevers, especially malaria and measles; malnutrition, and anemia. Immunization status is a concern for both age groups. The algorithm provides a scheme to classify the health issues with which infants and children present, an array of tasks providers may be expected perform, and criteria by which tasks are elicited. Research on the design and utility of the algorithm, its effects on provider performance, and related topics furnishes data on the prevalence of gold standard IMCI classifications in a variety of patient populations. In some cases, it also enables one to calculate the time required to perform tasks.</p> <p>I found such information by searching MEDLINE, the database of the International Network for Rational Use of Medicines, the websites of the WHO and its regional offices, GOOGLE, and GOOGLE SCHOLAR using search terms such as ‘Integrated Management of Childhood Illness’, ‘observational’, ‘prospective’, ‘classification’, ‘clinical signs’, ‘health facility survey’, and ‘validity’. Reinforcement learning theory reveals the cognitive requirements for solving the cleaner fish market task
<p>Learning is an adaptation that allows individuals to respond to environmental stimuli in ways that improve their reproductive outcomes. The degree of sophistication in learning mechanisms potentially explains variation in behavioural responses. Here, we present a model of learning that is inspired by documented intra- and interspecific variation in the performance in a simultaneous two-choice task, the 'biological market task'. The task presents a problem that cleaner fish often face in nature: the decision of choosing between two client types; one that is willing to wait for inspection and one that may leave if ignored. The cleaners' choice hence influences the future availability of clients, i.e. it influences food availability. We show that learning the preference that maximizes food intake requires subjects to represent in their memory different combinations of pairs of client types rather than just individual client types. In addition, subjects need to account for future consequences of actions, either by estimating expected long-term reward or by experiencing a client leaving as a penalty (negative reward). Finally, learning is influenced by the absolute and relative abundance of client types. Thus, cognitive mechanisms and ecological conditions jointly explain intra and interspecific variation in the ability to learn the adaptive response.</p>

Conservation of birds in fragmented landscapes requires protected areas
<p class="MsoNoSpacing">For successful conservation of biodiversity, it is vital to know whether protected areas in increasingly fragmented landscapes effectively conserve species. However, how large habitat fragments must be and what level of protection is required to sustain species, remains poorly known. We compiled a global dataset on almost 2000 bird species in 741 forest fragments varying in size and protection status, and show that protection is associated with higher bird occurrence, especially for threatened species. Protection becomes increasingly important with increasing size of forest fragments. For forest fragments >50 ha our results show that strict protection (IUCN cat. I-IV) is strongly associated with higher bird occurrences, whereas fragments should be at least 175 ha to observe a positive effect of moderate protection (cat. V-VI). This meta-analysis quantifies the importance of fragment size, protection status, and their interaction for the conservation of bird species communities, and stresses that protection should not be limited to large pristine areas.</p>
