<p>This repository provides access to&nbsp;the main datasets used in Grisot, G &amp; Herrmann,&nbsp;J. B.&nbsp;(2023)&nbsp;<em>Examining the representation of landscape and its emotional value in German-Swiss fiction around 1900.</em>&nbsp;The data set includes the following item:</p> <p>(1) <em>all_entities_new.Rdata</em>: comprehensive&nbsp;list of labelled spatial entities;</p> <p>(2) <em>corpus_summary_table.xlsx</em>: a summary of the corpus content;</p> <p>(3) <em>corpus_clean_partitioned.zip</em>: the entire corpus after removing stopwords;</p> <p>(4) <em>sentiment_lexicons.RData</em>: the sentiment lexicons for German used in our analyses;</p> <p>(5) tables with details of various analyses (<em>proportions_spatial_entities.xlsx,&nbsp;proportions_spatial_entities_by_country.xlsx,&nbsp;Spatial_entities_in_Corpus_by_category.xlsx</em>);</p> <p>(6)&nbsp;<em>Sentiment_lexicons_info.xlsx</em>: information about the content of the sentment&nbsp;lexicons.</p> <p>The study for which this data were&nbsp;collected explored&nbsp;the representation and affective encoding of fictional space in a corpus of 125 Swiss literary prose texts of the 19th and early 20th Century written in German, offering thus a contribution to both spatial and affective literary studies.&nbsp;Motivated by questions about the iconic dichotomy between urban and rural in literary works&nbsp;&ndash; and in Swiss literature in particular&nbsp;&ndash; we used&nbsp;computational methods to examine the types of space encoded in German-Swiss literature as well as the affective encoding associated with these space types. Taking into account the complexity of cultural perceptions and representations of space across history, we explore questions about affective encoding of rural, urban, and natural fictional spaces, as well as about their&nbsp;role in the&nbsp;construction of &lsquo;Swiss&rsquo; national literature.</p>

<p>This dataset has been considered&nbsp;suitable for exploring and analysing the Eastern German Crisis Discourse from 1976 to 1986, and consists of important speeches contained in five volumes of the protocol of the party congress of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). The speeches have been digitized by scanning them into PDF files and then converting them into machine-readable TEXT files using OCR software. These TEXT files have been processed with TagAnt (v.2.0.4&nbsp;Windows 10 64-bit),&nbsp;an annotation software. According to the data returned from&nbsp;AntConc (v.4.0.5&nbsp;Windows 10 64-bit) the&nbsp;dataset contains four corpora: a main corpus with a total of 184,750 tokens and 16,143 types, a &#39;corpus A&#39; with 70,533 tokens and 11,964 types, a &#39;corpus B&#39; with 65,757 tokens and 11,967 types, and a &#39;corpus C&#39; with 48,460 tokens and 8,145 types.</p>

EPOCHAL (Effects of Pollen on Cardiorespiratory Health and Allergic symptoms): Intake questionnaire (English and German)

<p>This questionnaire was developed for the EPOCHAL study (Effects of Pollen on Cardiorespiratory Health and Allergic symptoms). The study was&nbsp;sponsored and led by&nbsp;Swiss TPH in Basel, Switzerland and approved by the local ethics committee (Ethikkomission Nordwest- und Zentralschweiz EKNZ, project ID 2021-00151). Written informed consent was obtained from every participant prior to study inclusion.&nbsp;</p> <p>This is the &quot;intake questionnaire&quot; which was administered once for each participant upon starting the study. It&nbsp;includes questions about the following topics:<br> 1) Education<br> 2) Employment<br> 3) Allergy history: including allergies, previous testing,&nbsp;treatments and typical symptoms<br> 4) Residential history<br> 5) Medical history: including asthma, lung conditions, cardiac conditions, Covid-19, neurologic and psychiatric conditions, sleep conditions, recent surgeries and medication intake<br> 6) Lifestyle: including physical activity, smoking habits, alcohol and caffeine intake, sleep habits</p> <p>The questionnaire is also available in German under the same DOI.</p> <p>Please note that this questionnaire was administered electronically on a tablet, and contains:</p> <ul> <li>Form logic, which determines the relevance of some questions based on previous answers. Affected questions are typically shown in grey color.</li> <li>Warnings (in large red font) and directions (in large grey font) to warn nurses against performance of spirometry measurements if contraindications were present. For example, when recent surgery was indicated in Topic #5.</li> </ul>
