Celtic dwelling - interface
After its complete excavation, a rectangular Celtic pit house orientating east-west was found in Szurdokpüspöki. With its huge size (nearly 5 x 5.5 meters), its double, largely burnt debris and filling, and its abundance of partially burnt finds, it is one of the outstanding phenomena of the era in Northern Hungary. In its filling, a number of Celtic pottery have been uncovered. Most of the ceramics can be dated to the LT C1 and C2 periods and the loom weights in the northwest corner were completely prepared. In the middle of the building, under the millstones, some small depressions and posthole were found, which may have played a role in some activity. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Damage cadasters for wildland-urban interface fires in Chile, 2019-2022
<p><span>Wildland-urban interface (WUI) regions are particularly vulnerable to wildfires due to their proximity to both nature and urban developments, posing significant risks to lives and property. To enhance our understanding of the risk profiles in WUI areas, we analysed seven fire case studies in central Chile. </span></p> <p><span>In the paper <em>"</em><span><em>Modelling the vulnerability of urban settings to WUI fires in Chile",</em> </span>We developed a mixed-methods approach for conducting local-scale analyses which involved field surveys, remote-sensing through satellite and drone imagery, and GIS-based analysis of the collected data. The methodology led to the generation of a georeferenced dataset of damaged and undamaged dwellings, including 16 variables representing their physical characteristics, spatial arrangement, and the availability of fire suppression resources. A binary classification model was then used to assess the relative importance of these attributes as indicators of vulnerability. The analysis revealed that spatial arrangement factors have a greater impact on damage prediction than the structural conditions and fire preparedness of individual units. Specifically, factors such as dwelling proximity to neighbours, distance to vegetation, proximity to the border of dwelling groups, and distance from the origin of the fire substantially contribute to the prediction of fire damage. Other structural attributes associated with less affluent homes may also increase the likelihood of damage, although further data is required for confirmation. This study provides insights for the design, planning, and governance of WUI areas in Chile, aiding the development of risk mitigation strategies for both built structures and the broader territorial area.</span></p>
Solution-Based Synthesis of Oxide-Free MoS2 Film: Exploring Interface Mechanisms
<p>We present a novel method for synthesizing oxidation-free MoS2 films, focusing on interface mechanisms. By utilizing a sulfurization-free solution process and single-step annealing, we fabricate films on Si3N4 surfaces with improved uniformity, exhibiting surface roughness below 0.5 nm and a 4 nm thickness at a precursor concentration of 30 mM, annealed between 700 and 800ºC. Characterization reveals a hexagonal lattice structure with crystallographic orientations of (1 1 0 0) and (1 2 1 0), featuring lattice spacings of 0.27 nm and 0.16 nm, respectively. XPS analysis on SiO2 substrates shows migration of oxygen species, evidenced by a Si 2p spectrum shift to binding energies between 102.6 eV and 102.8 eV. MoS2 films on Si3N4 exhibit a complex Si 2p peak evolution between 100.9 eV and 101.8 eV, providing insights into oxide-free MoS2 film synthesis for advanced electronic devices. This dataset includes all the raw data associated with this study.</p>
Dataset for interface calculations as BSON mongodump and JSON formats for the publication: "High-throughput generation of potential energy surfaces for solid interfaces"
<p>This dataset that contains the results presented in the journal article entitled "High-throughput generation of potential energy surfaces for solid interfaces" that was published in Volume 207 of the Elsevier journal Computational Materials Science.</p> <p>The dataset consists of a dump of a MongoDB database with a single collection that contains data on 6 solid interfaces including the generalized stacking fault energies, corrugation, interface distances and adhesion sites for the film and the substrate at minimum and maximum adhesion energy configurations, and images of the full potential energy surface (PES).</p> <p>The data is served in two different formats; a BSON mongodump folder that can be restored to a MongoDB instance using the mongorestore tool, and additionally as simple .json files. The contents are identical and the users are encouraged to choose the format that is convenient for them.</p>

Simulations of PKA RIα Homodimer Reveal cAMP-coupled Conformational Dynamics of Each Protomer and the Dimer Interface with Functional Implications
<p>Protein kinase A (PKA) is a ubiquitous cAMP-dependent enzyme in mammalian tissues. The inactive PKA holoenzyme disassociates into a homodimer of regulatory (R) subunits and two active catalytic (C) subunits upon cAMP binding to two tandem domains (termed <span>CBD-A</span> <span>and</span> <span>CBD</span>-<span>B</span>) in R subunits. The release of cAMP facilitates reassociation of R and C subunits<span>,</span> resetting PKA to its basal state. The cAMP-mediated structural changes in the activation-termination cycle <span>remain</span> <span>partially</span> <span>understood</span>. The multimeric states of PKA complicate the issue and are particularly <span>less</span> <span>studied</span>. Therefore, we computationally investigate the conformational dynamics of PKA <span>RI</span>a homodimer in different cAMP-bound states. The absence of cAMP in two CBDs affect differently the <span>conformational</span> <span>dynamics</span> of protomers. Moreover, <span>such</span> disparate <span>responses</span> are extended to the dimer interface <span>constituted</span> <span>by</span> <span>the</span> <span>N</span>-<span>terminal</span> <span>helical</span> <span>sub-domains</span> termed N3A motifs. T<span>he removal of cAMP from CBD-A induces large-scale structure</span> changes <span>of individual </span>R subunits <span>towards the holoenzyme state,</span> consist with previous simulations of a single R subunit. <span>Meanwhile</span> <span>it</span> <span>keeps the structural heterogeneity of the </span>N3A-N3A' <span>dimer interface observed in the fully bound state.</span> By contrast, the removal of cAMP from CBD-B does not affect <span>individual </span>R subunits but alters the conformational space of the N3A-N3A' dimer interface. The cAMP-coupled s<span>tructural</span> <span>changes</span> <span>of</span> <span>each</span> <span>protomer</span> <span>and</span> conserved conformational space of <span>the</span> N3A-N3A' <span>dimer</span> <span>interface</span> are essential for t<span>he</span> <span>transition</span> <span>between</span> the fully cAMP-bound R<sub>2</sub> homodimer and the R<sub>2</sub>C<sub>2</sub> holoenzyme as suggested by their crystal structures. Our work provides structural insights into <span>the</span> regulatory mechanism of cAMP in PKA signaling. </p>
