Maternal predation risk increases offspring's exploration but does not affect schooling behavior
<p>The environment that parents experience can influence their reproductive output and their offspring's fitness via parental effects. Perceived predation risk can affect both parent and offspring phenotype, but it remains unclear to what extent offspring behavioral traits are affected when the mother is exposed to predation risk. This is particularly unclear in live-bearing species where maternal effects could occur during embryogenesis. Here, using a <i>half-sib</i> design to control for paternal effects, we experimentally exposed females of a live-bearing fish, the guppy (<i>Poecilia reticulata</i>), to visual predator cues and conspecific alarm cues during their gestation. Females exposed to predation risk cues increased their anti-predator behaviors throughout the entire treatment. Offspring of mothers exposed to the predation stimuli exhibited more pronounced exploratory behavior, but did not show any significant differences in their schooling behavior, compared to controls. Thus, while maternally perceived risk affected offspring's exploration during early stages of life, offspring's schooling behavior could be influenced more by direct environmental experience, rather than via maternal cues. Our results suggest a rather limited role in predator-induced maternal effects on the behavior of juvenile guppies.</p>

School exemptions in the United States
<p>Once-eliminated vaccine-preventable childhood diseases, such as measles, are resurging across the United States. Understanding the spatio-temporal trends in vaccine exemptions is crucial to targeting public health intervention to increase vaccine uptake and anticipating vulnerable populations as cases surge. However, prior available data on childhood disease vaccination is either on too rough a spatial scale for this spatially-heterogeneous issue, or is only available for small geographic regions, making general conclusions infeasible. Here, we have collated school vaccine exemption data across the United States and provide it at the county-level for all years available. We demonstrate the fine-scale spatial heterogeneity in vaccine exemption levels, and show that many counties may fall below the herd immunity threshold. We also show that vaccine exemptions increase over time in most states, and non-medical exemptions are highly prevalent where allowed. Our dataset also highlights the need for greater data sharing and standardized reporting across the United States. </p>
Questionnaire Draft and Respons for Study of Online Learning for Accounting Subjects in Vocational School During the Pandemic Period
<p>The questionnaire was designed to be completed by accounting-major vocational school students via an online survey platform. The data collection phase of the survey was conducted in August 2020, to analyze the learning process from March to July 2020. During that time, all schools in Indonesia implemented Study From Home (SFH). The questionnaire has 36 items, divided into 7 sections. Respondents were asked to choose one-point Likert scale from one to five depending on their online learning conditions. </p>
ENIS/MIDA summer school 2020: ESR 1 Mohamed El-Moursi
<p>Since the birth of the autobiographical genre, which is generally linked to the Renaissance, and the emergence of the individual as a political subject and measure of everything, ‘Abd All h’s Memoirs (Kitāb al-Tibyān or The Memoir of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Buluggīn, 1073-1090), appears as an extraordinary object. Former prince of the Taifa of Granada, ‘Abd Allāh was dethroned in 1090 by the Almoravids, who exiled him to Aghmat (current Morocco), where he wrote a justification of his actions, his reign and his dynasty.</p> <p>This video illustrates briefly the research carried out by Mohamed el-Moursi (Marie Curie Fellow of the ITN-MIDA 813547) who is studying the expression of the self in these pre-modern Memoirs. </p>

Archaeological Field School: Clay Pipe 2
This is another piece of the clay pipe that was excavated at the site of a WWI Spruce Mill adjacent to Fort Vancouver in SW Washington State. The site is currently being used as an archaeological field school location for the National Park Service. The purpose of these models is to find a quick and accurate way to digitally document an archaeology site beyond standard photos and drawings. These models can be uses for educational purposes and an interactive way for the people to visit a site usually not open to the public. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Latijnse School (Gemert) - Netherlands
Former Latin School of Gemert The Latin school of Gemert has a special history. She, unlike most other schools of this type, has no medieval origins but remained longer than many others. The school was founded in 1587 by Hendrik van Ruijschenbergh, who was commander of the German Order . This commander was in charge of counter- reformation and the recommendations of the Council of Trent also included the care for proper religious education, the establishment of seminars, and so on. The school was therefore established to the praise of God almighty and to the benefit of Christendom, especially for the flourishing youth . Scholarships were awarded to poorer students. https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latijnse_School_(Gemert) Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
