Biface Fragment XCB-003-406

Biface Fragment XCB-003-406 XCB-003, or IZM-003, is a site tested by A.P. McCartney in 1971. It is the type-site for the Izembek Phase. A small village with a unique whalebone house and many artifacts similar to those in the Bristol Bay region. It dates approximately 1200-1350 CE. The Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a result of the research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator. These artifacts were scanned with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. 2-8 photos were used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work done at the IVL at Id. St. Univ. Harpoon Fragment, XFP-038, Sanak Island, Alaska. XFP-038-6. From a shell midden dating 50-200 CE XFP-038 is a multi-component site on the west shore of Unimak Cove, Sanak Island, Alaska. It consists of a late pre-historic village of about 20 depressions dating 1400-1600 CE, a shell midden dating 50-200 CE, and a lower component dating 1750-1500 BCE. These artifacts were scanned with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. 4-8 photos were used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. End Blade Fragment. XCB-105-3393. 400 BCE-100 CE XCB-105 Adamagan (Aleut for place of walrus hunters) is at the head of Morzhovoi Bay, western Alaska Peninsula. It is a massive village with multiple occupations. When it was occupied 400 BCE-100 CE, it was the largest village in the Arctic with an estimated 1000 people. It also has limited occupations dated 2200-1700 BCE, 1000-600 BCE, and 900-1100 CE. Glazed Ceramic Lid Fragment, Calatrava la Vieja

Ceramic lid fragment from Calatrava la Vieja, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Islamic almohad period (1195-1212 CE). This artifact was found in the 2008 excavations in the south-east sector of the medina, next to the western wall of the alcázar. It is a medium sized lid with hemispherical body, horizontal projection serving as a stop, ring foot for easy fitting, and central handle. Its outer face is decorated with curved grooves and covered with green glaze. This kind of pieces were used to cover containers of very varied forms and functions: pans, jars, pots, jugs... In this case, due to its size, decoration and glazed surface, it probably served to cover pieces of tableware. Catalog No. CV 08 26 783 121. Processed and modeled in Reality Capture from 147 photos. Stamped jar fragment, Calatrava la Vieja, Esp

Stamped jar fragment from Calatrava la Vieja, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Islamic almohad period (1195-1212 CE). This artifact was found in the 2018 excavations in the south-east sector of the medina, next to the western wall of the alcázar. As usual during the almohad period in al-Andalus for these kind of vessels, this container was decorated with printed stamps, in this case with geometric and plant motifs distributed in several horizontal bands that cover almost the whole body. Invergowrie 9th-Century Cross Slab fragment

Canmore 318439. Invergowrie 1 (St Peter), Angus, cross-slab fragment. Measurements: H 0.84m, W 0.53m tapering towards the base to 0.42m. Old Red Sandstone. NO 35069 30150. Now located National Museums Scotland, Edinburgh (X.IB.251). First recorded in the 1840s, when it and Invergowrie 2 were built into a window opening in the ruined church, set with no 2 above no 1. Both stones appear to have been trimmed previously for re-use as building stones in the earlier medieval church.
