Raw stable water isotope measurements in water vapour at 13.5 m a.s.l., made in the austral summer of 2016/2017 during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE).

<p><strong>Dataset abstract</strong></p> <p>This dataset includes the raw data of stable water vapour isotope (&delta;18O, &delta;2H, deuterium excess) and water vapour mixing ratio measurements taken in the Southern Ocean during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) from November 2016 to April 2017 using a Picarro laser spectrometer L2130. This data has to be calibrated using the calibration runs and applying an appropriate calibration procedure following the IAEA guide lines.</p> <p>Two similar datasets also measuring stable water isotopes (SWIs) in water vapour were collected during the same expedition and can be distinguished from this dataset due to the height of the measurement collection (8 m a.s.l rather than 13.5 m a.s.l). <p><strong>Dataset abstract</strong></p> <p>This dataset includes the raw data of stable water vapour isotope (&delta;18O, &delta;2H, deuterium excess) and water vapour mixing ratio measurements at a height of approximately 8 meters above sea level taken in the Southern Ocean during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) from November 2016 to April 2017 using a Picarro laser spectrometer L2130-i mounted on the starboard side of the ship. L2130-i was operated only during two months in February and March 2017 from Hobart (Australia) to Cape Town (South Africa). This data has to be calibrated using the calibration runs and applying an appropriate calibration procedure following the IAEA guide lines.</p> <p>Two similar datasets also measuring stable water isotopes (SWIs) in water vapour were collected during the same expedition and can be distinguished from this dataset due to the height of the measurement collection (at 8 m a.s.l and 13.5 m a.s.l). Towards a standard procedure for the measurement of the multi-photon component in a CW telecom heralded single-photon source

<p>Single-photon sources are set to be a fundamental tool for metrological applications as well as for quantum information related technologies. Because of their upcoming widespread dissemination, the need for their characterization and standardization is becoming of the utmost importance. Here, we illustrate a strategy to provide a quantitative estimate of the multi-photon component of a single-photon source, showing the results achieved in a pilot study for the measurement of the second-order autocorrelation function <em>g</em><sup>(2)</sup>(0) of a low-noise CW heralded single photon source prototype (operating at telecom wavelength nm) realized in INRiM. The results of this pilot study, involving INRiM, NPL and PTB, will help to build a robust and unambiguous procedure for the characterization of the emission of a single-photon source.</p>

<p><strong>Dataset abstract</strong></p> <p>This data set includes the calibrated data of stable water vapour isotope (&delta;18O, &delta;2H, deuterium excess) and water vapour mixing ratio measurements at approximately 8 m a.s.l. on the port of the ship, taken around the Southern Ocean during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) from November 2016 to April 2017 using a Picarro laser spectrometers L2120. The data provide continuous timelines of atmospheric water vapour properties in the marine boundary layer for studies of the atmospheric water cycle.</p> <p>The raw data from which this calibrated dataset originates has been published separately (Kozachek, 2020; DOI 10.5281/zenodo.3667535).</p> <p>Two other calibrated stable water isotope measurement datasets were also collected during ACE. Level 2 spectra of the 290 - 500 nm solar irradiance measured at Aosta - Saint Christophe by the Bentham DTMc300 with serial number 5541 in 2006 - 2019

<p>The provided dataset includes the Level 2 spectral measurements (in Watt/m<sup>2</sup>) of the solar irradiance in the range 290 - 500 nm, performed by the Bentham DTMc300 spectroradiometer with serial number 5541. The particular instrument performs automated&nbsp;continuous, high quality&nbsp;&nbsp;measurements at Aosta - Saint Christophe, Italy&nbsp;(45.7&deg; N, 7.4&deg; E, 570 m a.s.l.) since 2006. The Level 2 spectra are re-evaluated and homogenized&nbsp;and are currently available for the period 24 July 2006 - 8 July 2019. Each file contains the spectra for one day. The time (in UTC) for the measurements at 290, 400, and 500 nm is also provided for each spectral scan.</p>

Data for Say it aloud: Measuring change talk and user perceptions in an automated, technology-delivered adaptation of motivational interviewing delivered by video-counsellor

<p>Two of three datasets from study where participants engaged in a spoken&nbsp;&#39;dialogue&#39; with a pre-recorded video counsellor asking open questions to promote behaviour change.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>interview length and change talk results.csv</strong> reports duration of dialogue and number of instances of change talk and sustain talk detected by human coders in each participant&#39;s speech. Transcripts of participants&#39; speech are not uploaded because we did not request participants&#39; consent for sharing. When designing the study, we did not know if people would feel comfortable speaking aloud to the computer; we&nbsp;did not want to make them feel more self-conscious by knowing their speech&nbsp;would shared. The data are from 16 of 18 participants; two were excluded for not talking about a goal to increase physical activity, which was a requirement of the study.</p> <p>Version 1.0 contains ratings of the number of instances of change and sustain talk, which required the coder to judge when a complex statement should be scored as containing more than one instance. Version 2.0 was created in response to a reviewer&#39;s suggestion that coders should simply score the presence or absence of change and sustain talk. The new dataset presents the agreed scoring of two independent coders who scored whether change or sustain talk were present in each participant&#39;s response to each question posed by the video-counsellor.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Questionnaire Units of Analysis.docx</strong> contains participants&#39;&nbsp;written responses to an evaluation questionnaire completed one week after the interview. These responses were the raw material for thematic analysis. This dataset contains responses from 18 participants, including participants 7 and 11 who did not talk about&nbsp;a goal of physical activity when interacting with the video-counsellor.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Supraglacial debris temperature measurements from Ngozumpa Glacier, Nepal (2001–2002)

<p>Supraglacial debris temperature measurements from a site 1.5 km from the terminus of&nbsp;Ngozumpa Glacier, Nepal, collected between 13 November 2001 and 12 October 2002. Debris temperatures were measured every 30 minutes at six thermistors within the debris layer at&nbsp;depths of&nbsp;0.0 m, 0.22 m, 0.33 m, 0.45 m, 0.65 m and&nbsp;0.77 m from the debris surface. Data from: Estimating transmission dynamics and serial interval of the first wave of COVID-19 infections under different control measures: A statistical analysis in Tunisia from February 29 to May 5, 2020

<p>Background: Describing transmission dynamics of the outbreak and impact of intervention measures are critical to planning responses to future outbreaks and providing timely information to guide policy makers decision. We estimate serial interval (SI) and temporal reproduction number (R<sub>t</sub>) of SARS-CoV-2 in Tunisia.</p> <p>Methods: We collected data of investigations and contact tracing between March 1, 2020 and May 5, 2020 as well as illness onset data during the period February 29-May 5, 2020 from National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases of Tunisia. Maximum likelihood (ML) approach is used to estimate dynamics of R<sub>t</sub>.</p> <p>Results: 491 of infector-infectee pairs were involved, with 14.46% reported pre-symptomatic transmission. SI follows Gamma distribution with mean 5.30 days [95% CI 4.66-5.95] and standard deviation 0.26 [95% CI 0.23-0.30]. Also, w<span>e estimated large changes in </span>R<sub>t</sub><span> in response to the combined lockdown interventions. The </span>R<sub>t</sub><span> moves from </span>3.18 [95% CI 2.73-3.69] <span>to 1.77 [95% CI 1.49-2.08] with </span>curfew<span> prevention measure, and under the epidemic threshold (0.89 </span>[95% CI 0.84-0.94]) by national lockdown measure<span>.</span></p> <p><span>Conclusions: </span>Overall, our findings highlight contribution of <span>interventions</span> to interrupt transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in Tunisia.</p>

Data from: Scented nectar and the challenge of measuring honest signals in pollination

<p>1. Nectar scents are thought to function as honest signals of reward used by pollinators, but this hypothesis has rarely been tested. 2. Using <i>Penstemon digitalis</i>, we examined honest signalling of the nectar volatile (S)-(+)-linalool and pollinator responses to linalool in both field and laboratory settings. Because our previous work showed that linalool emission was associated with higher female fitness and that nectar is scented with linalool, we hypothesized that linalool was an honest signal of nectar reward. To assess honesty, we measured linalool-nectar associations including nectar volume, sugar amount, concentration, and production rate for inflorescences and flowers in several populations. We also assessed whether Bombus impatiens, the main pollinator of P. digitalis at our sites, can use linalool as a foraging signal. We supplemented real or artificial flowers in the field and lab with varying linalool-nectar combinations to measure pollinator behavioural responses. 3. We found that an inflorescence's linalool emissions could be used to predict nectar rewards in P. digitalis, but this was driven by indirect associations with display size rather than directly advertising more profitable flowers. For flowers within inflorescences there was also no evidence for an association between signal and reward. Field tests of bumblebee behaviour were inconclusive. However, in laboratory assays bumblebees generally used variation in linalool emissions to choose more profitable flowers, demonstrating they can detect differences in linalool emitted by P. digitalis and associate them with reward profitability. These results suggest experiments that decouple display size, scent and reward are necessary to assess whether (and when) bees prefer higher linalool emissions. Bees preferred nectars with lower linalool concentrations when linalool flavoured the nectar solution, suggesting potential for conflicting pressures on scent emission in the field. 4. Synthesis: Our results highlight the challenges of assessing function for traits important to fitness and suggest that the perception of floral signalling honesty may depend on whether pollinators use inflorescences or flowers within inflorescences when making foraging decisions. We conclude that future research on honest signalling in flowering plants, as well as its connection to phenotypic selection, should explicitly consider among- and within-inflorescence honesty, in theoretical and experimental contexts.</p>
