Finite element data collected and Machine learning algorithms to predict the mechanical properties of innovative CLT

<p>This folder includes the data collected from the finite element simulations of the innovative CLT to compute its mechanical properties, the error of the closed-form solutions predicting the bending stiffness in the minor direction D22, the variation of the distance between the Reissner Mindlin and Bending Gradient theory in terms of spacing between lateral lamellas, the hyperparameters tuning of several ML algorithms (Regression Tree, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting and Artificial Neural Network), the ML evaluations, the saved artificial neural network algorithms to predict each mechanical property of innovative CLT, and the ML application to use it.</p>

Acoustic Properties of Voiceless and Preglottalized Continuants in Khmu

<p>Voiceless (and preglottalized) sonorants are implicated in tonogenesis and tonal splits, but phonetic studies of these segments are rare. Here, we present an acoustic study of data from 20 speakers of a phonologically conservative, non-tonal Eastern Khmu variety. Vowels following voiceless sonorants are consistently realized with a high pitch, in some cases even higher than those following voiceless obstruents. The effects of preglottalized sonorants on vowel pitch, on the other hand, are speaker-specific. These findings support the idea that voiceless and preglottalized sonorants are crucial to understanding the initial stages of tonogenetic processes.</p>

Abundance and richness of biota and soil properties across successive soil ages since glacial recession

<p class="MsoNormal"><span>Ecosystems shaped by retreating glaciers provide a unique opportunity to study the order and timing of biotic colonization, and how this influences the structure of successive ecological communities. In the last century glaciers across most of the cryosphere have receded at an unprecedented pace. Many studies have been published from different parts of the world testing hypotheses about how soil ecosystems are responding to rapid, contemporary deglaciation events. </span><span>To better understand and draw general conclusions about how soil ecosystems respond to deglaciation, we conducted a global meta-analysis of 95 published articles focused on the succession of various organisms and soil physicochemical properties in glacier forefields along the chronosequence. Our global synthesis reveals that key soil properties and the abundance and richness of biota follow two conspicuous patterns: 1) Some taxa demonstrate a persistent increase in abundance and richness over the entire chronosequence, 2) other taxa increase in abundance and richness during the first 50 years of succession, then gradually decline 50 years onward. The soil properties and soil organisms that are intimately tied to vegetation follow the first pattern, consistent with the idea that aboveground patterns of vegetation can drive patterns of belowground biodiversity. The second pattern may be due to an initial increase and subsequent decline in available nutrients and habitat suitability caused by increased biotic interactions, including resource competition among soil biota. A consensus view of the patterns of historical and contemporary soil ecosystem responses to deglaciation provides a better understanding of the processes that generate these patterns and informs predictions of ongoing and future responses to environmental changes. </span></p>

Description of Duchene subcatchment database: measured properties along sediment and soil cores and associated metadata

<p>From the perspective of open science, this dataset includes data and medata of four sediment cores and five soil cores collected in the Duchene subcatchment (Martinique, France) in February 2023. These data were collected in order to study the impact of soil erosion on chlordecone transfers (an organochlorine insecticide) along a cultivated hillslope and, ultimately in a reservoir. To this end, a set of different properties were measured : radionuclide activities, carbon and nitrogen isotopes, elemental geochemistry, visible colorimetry, chlordecone and its degradation products concentrations.&nbsp;</p>

Dataset Expanding the Pseudomonas diversity of the wheat rhizosphere: four novel species antagonizing fungal phytopathogens and with plant-beneficial properties

<p>This dataset is related to the study "<strong>Expanding the Pseudomonas diversity of the wheat rhizosphere: four novel species antagonizing fungal phytopathogens and with plant-beneficial properties</strong>" (Poli et al., 2024, doi: <a href="https://doi.org/10.3389/fmicb.2024.1440341">10.3389/fmicb.2024.1440341</a>) and contains the raw data described therein. Specifically, the dataset contains the growth-promotion of wheat plants upon inoculation with four novel&nbsp;<em>Pseudomonas</em> species type strains, as well as the ability of the four strains to antagonize three fungal phytopathogens.&nbsp;</p> <p>The complete genome sequences of the four novel&nbsp;<em>Pseudomonas</em> species type strains have been deposited in the NCBI under the BioProject number <a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/bioproject/PRJNA1095474">PRJNA1095474</a>.</p>

Phosphorus Forms and Associated Properties along an Urban-Rural Gradient in Southern China

<p>Urbanization is widely assumed to degrade soil ecosystem services, but the changes in urban soil phosphorus (P) status due to urbanization, and the associated environmental implications have rarely been studied. The objective of this study was to investigate the P forms and associated soil properties in urban soils. Thirty sites were selected along urban-rural gradient in Nanchang, China, to examine the effects of urbanization on soil P fractions. Residual P and NaOH-extractable P (NaOH-Pi and NaOH-Po) were the major P forms in the 0&ndash;30 cm of urban soils, comprising on average 37 and 43% of the total P pool, respectively, which was similar to the suburban and rural soils. Compared with non-urban soils, urban soil had higher contents of total P and P fractions (i.e., P<sub>H2O</sub>, P<sub>KCl</sub>, NaOH-Pi, P<sub>HCl</sub>, and residual P), as well as greater contents of related soil P-retentive properties, especially soil pH, Mehlich 3-extractable Ca and Mg. Phosphorus enrichment in the urban soils may become a source of aquatic pollution, because soil labile P content (sum of P<sub>H2O</sub> and P<sub>KCl</sub>) was positively related with total P, P<sub>HCl</sub>, NaOH-Pi, and residual P, which implied that the labile P can be replenished by these P pools. This study increased the understanding of P stabilization characteristics (e.g., the specific P forms) of urban soils and had further implications for urban environmental management.</p>
