Drymarchon corais (Colubridae) and Caiman crocodilus (Alligatoridae) use different feeding behaviors to consume poisonous toads

Drymarchon corais and Caiman crocodilus are reported here using different feeding behaviors for consuming poisonous toads of the genus Rhinella (Bufonidae). Drymarchon corais was observed feeding on specimens of Rhinella diptycha without avoiding contact with the parotoid macroglands, suggesting that this snake species is immune to toad toxins. Caiman crocodilus was recorded avoiding contact with the parotoid macroglands of specimens of Rhinella marina by consuming only the front and rear legs, suggesting that this caiman may be sensitive to toad toxins. Further experimental and field studies are needed to better understand the feeding behavior of D. corais and C. crocodilus, and the effects of Rhinella toxins on these predators.

Consuming sunflower pollen reduced pathogen infection but did not alter measures of immunity in bumble bees

Certain diets can benefit bee health by reducing pathogens, but the mechanism(s) driving these medicinal effects are largely unexplored. Recent research found that sunflower (Helianthus annuus) pollen reduces the gut pathogen Crithidia bombi in the common eastern bumble bee (Bombus impatiens). Here, we tested the effects of sunflower pollen and infection on two bee immune metrics to determine if sunflower pollen diet drives changes in host immunity that can explain this medicinal effect. Bees were infected with C. bombi or not and given either sunflower or wildflower pollen. Subsequently, bees received a benign immune challenge or were left naïve to test the induced and constitutive immune responses, respectively. We measured hemolymph phenoloxidase activity, involved in the melanization cascade, and antibacterial activity. Sunflower pollen reduced C. bombi infection, but we found no significant pollen diet effect on either immune measure. Phenoloxidase activity was also not affected by C. bombi infection status; however, uninfected bees were more likely to have measurable constitutive antibacterial activity, while infected bees had higher induced antibacterial activity. Overall, we found that sunflower pollen does not significantly affect the immune responses we measured, suggesting that the mechanisms underlying its medicinal effect do not involve these bee immune parameters.

EEG-based Consumer Neuroscience and Neuromarketing Dataset

SciMAT dataset with 497 EEG-based Consumer Neuroscience and Neuromarketing articles from 2002 (Consumer Neuroscience field origin) to 2022. Three periods of study were established according to the frequency of EEG use in Consumer neuroscience. The first of these periods, 2002-2010, corresponds to the first decade in which we see the initial acceptance of EEG technology in the field. In the second period, 2011-2017, the use of EEG experiences a growth phase, and during the third period, 2018-2021, we see a substantial rise in the use of EEG in Consumer neuroscience and Neuromarketing studies.

Manduca sexta experience high parasitoid pressures in the field but minor fitness costs of consuming plant secondary compounds

Plant-herbivore co-evolutionary interactions have led to a range of plant defenses that minimize insect damage and a suite of counter-adaptations that allow herbivores to feed on defended plants. Consuming plant secondary compounds results in herbivore growth and developmental costs but can have beneficial effects such as deterrence or harm of parasitoid enemies. Therefore, the role of secondary compounds on herbivore fitness must be considered in the context of the abundance and level of harm from natural enemies and the costs herbivores incur feeding on plant secondary compounds.

In this study, I combined field measurements of Cotesia congregata wasp parasitism pressure with detailed measurements of the costs of plant secondary compounds across developmental stages in the herbivore host, Manduca sexta.

I show that C. congregata parasitoids exert large negative selective pressures, killing 31-57% of M. sexta larvae in the field. Manduca sexta developed fastest during instars most at risk for parasitoid oviposition but growth was slowed by consumption of plant secondary compounds. The negative effects of consuming plant secondary compounds as larvae influenced adult size traits but there were no immune, survival, or fecundity costs.

These results suggest that developmental costs experienced by M. sexta herbivores consuming defensive compounds are minor in comparison to the strong negative survival pressures from abundant parasitoid enemies.

Evolution of digital consumer behavior: A bibliometric analysis of the impact of social networks on purchase determinations

In the current context of a globalized and globalized and highly digitized marketplace, the study of customer behavior has become fundamental to behavior has become fundamental to understanding the complex interactions between social, cultural and commercial between social, cultural and commercial factors that influence purchasing decisions. purchasing decisions. This research aims to analyze the the impact of social media and purchase determinations on customer behavior through a bibliometric behavior through a bibliometric study. A qualitative, descriptive, non-experimental descriptive approach with a non-experimental and longitudinal design, analyzing 1,213 documents 1,213 documents extracted from Scopus, using VOSviewer and Bibliometrix for scientific mapping and bibliometric scientific mapping and bibliometric analysis. The results reveal a rapidly growing field (13.33% per Year field (13.33% per year) with an average of 16.63 citations per document and a 28.77% co-citation rate and 28.77% of international co-authorships. Emerging trends were identified the influence of social networks on purchase intent, the impact of influencers and the importance of social commerce. Semantic análisis semantic analysis highlighted the centrality of terms such as "social media", "consumer behavior" and "purchase intention", "consumer behavior" and "purchase intention". It is concluded that the field is dynamic, interdisciplinary and globally diverse, with a growing integration of technology and consumer behavior. integration of technology and consumer behavior. The implications suggest the need for more sophisticated digital marketing strategies that consider the influence of that consider the influence of social networks, the credibility of influencers and the influencer credibility and trust, and the need for more sophisticated digital marketing strategies that consider the influence of social networks, influencer credibility and trust.
