NEW HORIZONS LORRI JUPITER ENCOUNTER RAW V3.0

This data set contains Raw data taken by the New Horizons Long Range Reconnaissance Imager instrument during the Jupiter encounter mission phase. This is VERSION 3.0 of this data set. LORRI science observations for the Jupiter Phase include observations of the Jovian system: the Jovian atmosphere and clouds including full disk rotation movie and resolved images of selected features like the Great Red Spot and the Little Red Spot; Jovian ring system and associated small satellites; the Galilean satellites with particular attention to Io under both sunlit and eclipse conditions, and eclipse observations of both Europa and Ganymede; the small irregular satellites Elara, Himalia, Callirrhoe. Additional observations were taken to test and/or characterize and/or calibrate the modes and performance of the LORRI. LORRI V3.0 provides a few updates from LORRI V2.0. The lossy images were recalibrated, including expanding the 'bad' pixel designation of 8x8 boxes affected by the first 34 pixels of header information in the calibrated quality map. Also, updates were made to the documentation and catalog files, primarily to resolve liens from the V2.0 peer review. No new observations were added with Version 3.0

VOYAGER 1 JUPITER POSITION RESAMPLED DATA 48.0 SECONDS

This data set includes Voyager 1 Jupiter encounter position data that have been generated at a 48.0 second sample rate using the NAIF SPICE kernals. The data set is composed of 4 columns: 1) ctime - this column contains the data acquisition time. The time is always output in the ISO standard spacecraft event time format (yyyy-mm-dd-Thh:mm:ss.sss) but is stored internally in Cline time which is measured in seconds after 00:00:00.000 Jan 01, 1966, 2) r - this column contains the radial distance from Jupiter in Rj = 71398 km, 3) longitude - this column contains the east longitude of the spacecraft in degrees, 4) latitude - this column contains the latitude of the spacecraft in degrees. Position data is given in Minus System III coordinates.

GO JUPITER PWS EDITED EDR 10KHZ WAVEFORM RECEIVER V1.0

This data set includes wideband waveform measurements from the Galileo plasma wave receiver obtained during Jupiter orbital operations. These data were obtained during selected observation periods near perijove, satellite encounters and other select times. These measurements are electric waveforms obtained by rapidly sampling the potential at the input to the receiver from the electric dipole antenna. The sample rates are 201,600/s, 25,200/s, or 3,150/s taken through bandpass filters of 80, 10, or 1 kHz, respectively.

GALILEO NIMS SPECTRAL IMAGE CUBES: JUPITER OPERATIONS

The natural form of imaging spectrometer data is the spectral image cube. It is normally in band sequential format, but has a dual nature. It is a series of 'images' of the target, each in a different wavelength, in ascending order. It is also a set of spectra, each at a particular line and sample, over the target area. Each spectrum describes a small portion of the area. When transformed into cubes, the data may be analyzed spatially, an image at a time, or spectrally, a spectrum at a time, or in more complex spatial-spectral fashion.

VG2 LECP 48.0 SECOND JUPITER FAR ENCOUNTER STEP DATA

This far encounter step data set consists of the counting rate and flux data for electrons and ions from the Low Energy Charged Particle (LECP) experiment on Voyager 2 while the spacecraft was within the vicinity of Jupiter. This instrument measures the intensities of in-situ charged particles ( >13 keV electrons and >24 keV ions) with various levels of discrimination based on energy range and mass species. A subset of almost 100 LECP channels are included in this data set. The LECP data are globally calibrated to the extent possible. Particles include electrons, protons, alpha particles, and light, medium, and heavy nuclei particles. The far encounter data are 48.0 second rate and flux measurements within 1/8 of the LECP instrumental motor rotation period (the angular scanning periods, or step period).

VOYAGER 2 JUPITER PLASMA DERIVED ELECTRON MOMENTS 96 SEC

THIS DATA SET CONTAINS THE DERIVED VALUES FOR THE ELECTRON MOMENT DENSITY AND TEMPERATURE AT JUPITER IN THE PLS ENERGY RANGE (10-5950 EV) DURING THE VOYAGER 2 ENCOUNTER. ADJACENT LOW AND HIGH ENERGY ELECTRON MEASUREMENTS ARE COMBINED TO FORM A COMPOSITE SPECTRA WHICH IS USED FOR THE MOMENT CALCULATION. THE MOMENT CALCULATIONS ARE PERFORMED AS DESCRIBED IN SCUDDER ET AL. (1981). THESE ASSUME ISOTROPIC DISTRIBUTIONS AND CORRECT FOR POSITIVE SPACECRAFT CHARGE WHEN APPLICABLE AND INTERPOLATE ELECTRON SPECTRA BELOW THE 10 EV INSTRUMENT THRESHOLD BEFORE PERFORMING THE INTEGRATION OVER VELOCITY. DATA FORMAT: COLUMNS 1-6 ARE TIME (YEAR, DAY, HOUR, MIN, SEC, MSEC) COLUMN 7 IS THE MOMENT DENSITY IN CM-3, COLUMN 8 THE TEMPERATURE IN EV. EACH ROW HAS FORMAT (6I4, 2E12.3). VALUES OF 1.E32 INDICATE THAT THE PARAMETER COULD NOT BE OBTAINED FROM THE DATA USING THE STANDARD ANALYSIS TECHNIQUE. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS DATASET AND THE INSTRUMENT WHICH PRODUCED IT CAN BE FOUND ELSEWHERE IN THIS CATALOG. AN OVERVIEW OF THE DATA IN THIS DATA SET CAN BE FOUND IN SCUDDER ET AL. (1981) AND A COMPLETE INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION CAN BE FOUND IN BRIDGE (1977).
