Data for "Nanoparticle reinforced medium entropy CoCrFeNi produced by laser powder bed fusion: Microstructure evolution"

<p>Nanoparticle-reinforced metallic composites produced via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) offer an economically feasible approach for obtaining high-strength near-net shaped critical components in automotive and aviation industries. This study investigates the equiatomic medium entropy alloy (MEA) CoCrFeNi manufactured by LPBF, incorporating two types of reinforcing particles, titanium nitride (TiN) and titanium oxide (TiO2), with varying sizes and volume concentrations. In this paper, we focus on analyzing the microstructure and texture evolution of all alloys, alongside examining the dissolution, precipitation and phase transitioning of the particles. TiN nanoparticles dissolve in the melt pool and uniformly precipitate as TiO2, forming novel core-shell nanoparticles resistant to coarsening.&nbsp;</p> <p>Here we share the STEM raw data files that were used in the analysis. We also share a general image analysis routine that used python based modules to measure the particle sizes and their volume fraction.</p> <p>In brief, we used the following steps for several images of each sample:<br>(a)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Threshold the equalized grayscale image to create a binary image.<br>(b)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Calculate the area fraction of the cleaned binary image.<br>(c)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Detect contours in the binary image.<br>(d)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Extract properties of circles from the contours, such as scaled diameter, and area.<br>(e)&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Draw circles on the original image using the detected contours.</p> <p><br>For TiN/5/800 samples containing multiple square-shaped particles, we assess the area of these squares and subsequently determine the diameter of a circle possessing an equivalent area.</p> <p>We also share the the raw file and the jupyter notebook for the 4DSTEM experiment conducted on the core-shell nanoparticle.</p>

Characterization of Mg(OH)2 powders produced from real saltworks bitterns at a pilot scale

<p>The growing demand for a reliable supply of minerals has pushed the European Union toward seeking novel<br>mineral sources. In the present work, the recovery of magnesium, in the form of magnesium hydroxide, Mg<br>(OH)2, from saltworks bitterns was investigated at a pilot scale. The natural bittern collected from Margi saltworks<br>(Trapani, Italy) was treated with synthetic sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solutions. The influence of different<br>reactant concentrations, flow rates and pH environments, on Mg(OH)2 particle sizes, filtration characteristics,<br>Mg2+ extraction performance and the Mg(OH)2 solid purity was thoroughly assessed. The presence of additional<br>dissolved salts in NaOH solutions was also analyzed. The pH environment was found to be the most crucial<br>parameter. On the one hand, high pH values ensured high Mg2+ recovery and powder purities, i.e. &gt; 98%, with<br>boron content complying with market requirements. On the other hand, filtration characteristics considerably<br>worsened due to the lyosorption phenomenon.</p>

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN COMMUNITY BEHAVIOR AND SOWING OF ABATE POWDER IN PREVENTING AEDES LARVAE AT PASI PEUKAN BARO VILLAGE AND PASI RAWA VILLAGE SIGLI SUB DISTRICT, PIDIE REGENCY

<p>Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Aceh Province in 2022 were recorded at 2,079 cases,, with 16 deaths. with the morbidity rate for Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in 2022 amounting to 38 per 100,000 population. Cases of dengue fever in Pidie Regency in 2022 were 318 cases. Research Objective: To determine community behavior towards sowing abate powder to prevent aedes larvae in Kota Sigli Subdistrict, Regency Pidie, Aceh Province, data collected in the form of larva surveys, distribution of research questionnaires and observation were conducted from 24 January to 28 February 2024 with the number of respondent involved 71 respondents in Pasi Peukan Baro village and 84 respondents in Pasi Rawa village, and total were 155 respondents. Research Method: Quantitative research with a cross-sectional study research design. Results: The results of Chi Square analysis in Pasi Peukan Baro village was showed a relationship between knowledge (p-value 0.000) and attitude (p-value 0.016) with community sowing behavior of abate powder in preventing aedes larvae.Meanwhile in Pasi Rawa village there is a relationship between education (p-value 0.028) and knowledge (p-value 0.000) with community sowing behavior of abate powder in preventing aedes larvae. Based on the results of the logistic regression test, the most dominant factors that were significantly related in Pasi Peukan Baro village are the age variable (p-value=0.074, CI 95%=0.032-1.170 OR=0.194) and the variable knowledge (p-value=0.001, CI 95%=3.305-95.053, OR=17.724) while in Pasi Rawa village the most dominant factor is knowledge variable (p-value=0.000, CI 95%=19.089-1831.905, OR=187.000). Conclusion:In Pasi Peukan Baro village there is a relationship between the knowledge variable and attitude variable with community sowing behavior of abate powder in preventing aedes larvae.There is a relationship between education variable and knowledge variable with community sowing behavior of abate powder in Pasi Rawa village.</p>

Wetting-Induced Volumetric Collapse of UO2 Powder Beds and the Consequence on Transient Nuclear Criticality Excursions

<p>Mathematical and computational models are proposed to simulate wetting-induced volumetric collapse of fissile powder beds. Slumping, nuclear thermal hydraulics, radiolytic gas and steam production models are coupled with point neutron kinetics to investigate transient nuclear criticality excursions in two 5-wt%&nbsp;enriched UO<sub>2</sub>&nbsp;fissile powder beds with varying levels of wetting-induced volumetric collapse. The two beds are distinguished by their mean powder particle size of 30&nbsp;&micro;m and 100&nbsp;&micro;m. For the UO<sub>2</sub>&nbsp;powder beds modelled, the re-distribution of UO<sub>2</sub> powder and moderator due to slumping introduced a negative reactivity into the system. This increased the amount of time taken for a delayed critical state to be reached once infiltration began, and also reduced the total fission energy generated over the course of the simulated transient. The total fission energy generated ranged from 42&nbsp;MJ&nbsp;to 48&nbsp;MJ&nbsp;100&nbsp;seconds after the initial nuclear criticality excursion was observed for the 30&nbsp;&micro;m sized UO<sub>2</sub> powder bed. The fission energy of the larger sized powder bed (100&nbsp;&micro;m), varied from 42&nbsp;MJ&nbsp;to 57&nbsp;MJ. Larger discrepancies between the slumped and un-slumped initial peak power are predicted. Peak powers varied from 29.2&nbsp;MW to 106&nbsp;MW for the smaller-sized powder particles, whereas for larger particles, the peak powers varied from 255&nbsp;MW to 501&nbsp;MW.</p>
