Bonanza Creek LTER: Hourly Precipitation Measurements from 1988 to Present in the Bonanza Creek Experimental Forest near Fairbanks, Alaska

Precipitation is measured at many sites within BCEF using TE525 tipping buckets. These sensors are able to detect .254mm of precipitation and record hourly totals of rainfall or throughfall. It should be noted the tipping buckets within forested sites are subject to clogging by forest debris whcih can result in under reporting of rain events as well as over reporting upon release of the collected precipitation. There is data from floodplains to upland sites along a range of successional gradients.

This dataset contains site-level average estimated of environmental, soil, tree, vegetation, and fire characteristics measured in 2016, three years after the Toklat River Fire in Denali National Park and Preserve. Measured parameters include latitude, longitude, slope, aspect, elevation, moisture classification, bulk density of the surface soil, residual organic soil depth, thaw depth, burn depth, density and basal area of all tree species pre-fire, the density of all tree species post-fire, estimates of above- and below-ground carbon combustion, and understory vegetation turnover from pre-fire to post-fire. There is also data on seed trap collection and experimental regeneration of seedlings collected in 2017 and 2018 at a subset of sites.

This includes redox-active organic matter reduction measurements for three different experiments that took place at the APEX Fen; (1) common substrate in 2021, (2) common substrate in 2022, (3) peat collected from each water-table manipulation plot. Water-table levels are reported for experiments 1 and 2. Carbon greenhouse gas measurements and fluorescence and absorbance data are reported for experiment 2. Carbon greenhouse gas measurements are reported for experiment 3.

Sediment elevation measurements for 10 GCE-LTER sampling sites from December 2001 to December 2020

Soil surface elevation was measured in tidal marshes at 10 GCE-LTER sampling sites from December 2001 to December 2020 using a sediment elevation table method. The sites represent three estuaries of the Georgia coast (USA) that vary in delivery of freshwater and sediment. The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of freshwater input on marsh accretion and subsidence. In 2013, rod SETs were added at site 11 and installed to replace broken SETs at sites 7 and 9 (which broke in 2012).
