Salted pork was a staple food for the sailors below decks on the Abergavenny along with salt beef and ship's biscuits, often of unappetising quality. Salting helped to preserve the meat; an essential process for long voyages. Live pigs were also carried to supply fresh meat for the captain and his higher status passengers and crew. # **SHCMS:G.10666** **Juvenille mammoth tibia** Part of a collection of material found at condover, Shropshire. There are at least three juvenille mammoths represented in the material, although they are much less complete than the adult male. Age: approx 14000 years. Length 27cm Width 13cm Depth 8.5cm. Imaged using a canon 5DS R and Stackshot 3x with turntable to provide 112 images which were then processed using agisoft photoscan at high levels.
