Comprehensive battery aging dataset: capacity and impedance fade measurements of a lithium-ion NMC/C-SiO cell [dataset – version 2: result data]

<p>Battery degradation is critical to the cost-effectiveness and usability of battery-powered products. Aging studies can help to better understand and model degradation and to optimize the operation strategy. Nevertheless, there are only a few comprehensive and freely available aging datasets for these applications.<br>To our knowledge, the dataset presented in the following is one of the largest published to date. It contains data from 228 commercial NMC/C+SiO lithium-ion cells aged for almost 600 days under a wide range of operating conditions. We investigate calendar and cyclic aging and also apply different driving cycles to some of the cells.<br>This dataset is an update to the dataset previously published under the DOI 10.35097/1947 and described in the publication with the DOI 10.1038/s41597-024-03831-x. This dataset only includes result data (capacity, impedance, and pulse resistance measurements). The log data is published under the DOI 10.35097/kww7jv8ajuvchcah.</p>

SKS measurements and null measurements for seismic stations in Eritrea and Yemen

<p>These files relate to "Channelized mantle flow through the Afar Triple Junction and around the Arabian plate: evidence from seismic anisotropy" by Gauntlett et al. (2024). Original seismic waveforms are from the Eritrea Seismic Project (<a href="https://doi.org/10.7914/sn/5h_2011">Hammond et al., 2011</a>) and the Young Conjugate Margins Lab in the Gulf of Aden network (<a href="10.7914/SN/XW_2009">Leroy et al., 2007</a>) and are publicly available through<a href="http://service.iris.edu/fdsnws/dataselect/1/">EarthScope Data Services</a>.</p> <p>The repository consists of three files:</p> <ol> <li>SKS_ALL.csv</li> <li>SKS_NULL_ALL.csv</li> <li>stations_all.csv</li> </ol> <p>The first file provides individual shear-wave splitting results reported in the study for the SKS phase. Data for "Measurement report: Comparison of airborne in-situ measured, lidar-based, and modeled aerosol optical properties in the Central European background – identifying sources of deviations"

<p>A unique set of data is presented, derived from measurements conducted at the rural central European observatory at Melpitz, Germany. Data derived from remote sensing (lidar), airborne platforms (helicopter, balloon), and ground-based in-situ methods is included. Measured and Mie-modeled optical aerosol parameters are presented in the dry- and ambient state. Modeled optical parameters are based on Mie-theory. For ambient state hygroscopic growth simulations are utilized.</p>

A Repeated Measures Dataset on Public Responses to the COVID-19 Pandemic: Social Norms, Attitudes, Behaviors, Conspiracy Thinking, and (Mis)Information

<p>We present a quantitative repeated measures dataset from intensive longitudinal research (diary survey) conducted with participants drawn from a nationally representative sample of the German population. This diary survey addresses a wide range of variables relevant to the COVID-19 pandemic, including information seeking, attitudes towards science, public health, and related behaviors.&nbsp; Respondents were asked about their thoughts, challenges, concerns, and experiences related to the pandemic. Survey responses were requested every two weeks from November 2020 and September 2021 for a total of 18 stages of data collection. The diary survey responses were all matched to the same individual. Using the unique identifier for each individual, the diary survey dataset can be analyzed in concert with a larger representative survey sample that was conducted three times within the same research project over this time period. The diary dataset we present here includes socio-demographic information and other potentially relevant variables, ready for secondary analysis.<br> <br> Initial sample frame: <em>N </em>= 1,480</p> <p>Initial diary survey sub-sample: <em>N </em>= 133</p>

Data on measuring splash dispersal of a major wheat pathogen in the field

<p>Capacity for dispersal is a fundamental fitness component of plant pathogens. Characterization of plant pathogen dispersal is important for understanding how pathogen populations change in time and space. We devised a systematic approach to measure and analyze rain splash-driven dispersal of plant pathogens in field conditions, using the major fungal wheat pathogen Zymoseptoria tritici as a case study.We inoculated field plots of wheat (Triticum aestivum) with two distinct Z. tritici strains. Next, we measured disease intensity as counts of fruiting bodies (pycnidia) using automated image analysis. These measurements characterized primary disease gradients, which we used to estimate effective dispersal of the pathogen population. Genotyping of reisolated pathogen strains with strain-specific PCR confirmed the conclusions drawn from phenotypic data. Consistently with controlled environment studies,we found that the characteristic scale of dispersal is tens of centimeters.We analyzed the data using a spatially explicit mathematical model that incorporates the spatial extent of the source, rather than assuming a point source,which allows for a more accurate estimation of dispersal kernels.We employed bootstrapping methods for statistical testing and adopted a two-dimensional hypotheses test based on kernel density estimation, enabling more robust inference compared with standard methods. We report the first estimates of dispersal kernels of the pathogen in field conditions. However, repeating the experiment in other environments would lead to more robust conclusions.We put forward advanced methodology that paves the way for further measurements of plant pathogen dispersal in field conditions, which can inform spatially targeted plant disease management. </p>

<p><strong>Dataset abstract</strong></p> <p>This dataset consists of a 5-minute time series of particle number concentration of fluorescent and total aerosol particles that were measured by wideband integrated by aerosol sensor during the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition during the austral summer of 2016/2017. For this dataset, aerosol particles within the optical diameter range of 0.5 &mu;m to 14.5 &mu;m were considered. Preliminary on-ice remote sensing measurements during the MOSAiC expedition

<p>Several different remote sensing instruments were deployed on the sea ice floe next to RV Polarstern during the MOSAiC expedition (mosaic-expedition.org). Dataset of the article 'Redox state kinetics in water-oxidation IrOx electrocatalysts measured by operando spectroelectrochemistry'

<p>Data published in&nbsp;the article &#39;Redox state kinetics in water-oxidation IrO<sub>x</sub> electrocatalysts measured by <em>operando</em> spectroelectrochemistry&#39;, &nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1021/acscatal.1c03290">https://doi.org/10.1021/acscatal.1c03290</a>.</p> <p>Abstract: hydrous iridium oxides (IrO<sub>x</sub>) are the best oxygen evolution electrocatalysts available for operation in acidic environments. In this study, we employ time-resolved&nbsp;<em>operando</em>&nbsp;spectroelectrochemistry to investigate the redox states kinetics of IrO<sub>x</sub>&nbsp;electrocatalyst films for both water and hydrogen peroxide oxidation. Three different redox species involving Ir<sup>3+</sup>, Ir<sup>3.x+</sup>, Ir<sup>4+</sup>&nbsp;and Ir<sup>4.y+</sup>&nbsp;are identified spectroscopically and their concentrations are quantified as a function of applied potential. The generation of Ir<sup>4.y+</sup>&nbsp;states is found to be the potential determining step for catalytic water oxidation, whilst H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>&nbsp;oxidation is observed to be driven by the generation of Ir<sup>4+</sup>states. The reaction kinetics for water oxidation, determined from the optical signal decays at open circuit, accelerate from ~ 20 s to &lt; 0.5 s with increasing applied potential above 1.3V&nbsp;<em>vs.</em>&nbsp;RHE (i.e. TOFs per active Ir state increasing from 0.05 to 2 s<sup>-1</sup>). In contrast, the reaction kinetics for H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>&nbsp;are found to be almost independent of the applied potential (increasing from 0.1-0.3 s<sup>-1&nbsp;</sup>over a wider potential window), indicative of a first order reaction mechanism. These spectroelectrochemical data quantify the increase of both the density of active Ir<sup>4.y+</sup>&nbsp;states and the TOFs of these states with applied positive potential, resulting in the observed sharp turn on of catalytic water oxidation current. We reconcile these data with the broader literature while providing a unique kinetic insight into IrO<sub>x</sub>&nbsp;electrocatalytic reaction mechanisms, indicating a first order reaction mechanism for H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub>&nbsp;oxidation driven by Ir<sup>4+</sup>&nbsp;states, and a higher order reaction mechanism involving the co-operative interaction of multiple Ir<sup>4.y+</sup>&nbsp;states for water oxidation.</p>

Repeated measure plant community data after fire in boreal forest, Taiga Shield, Northwest Territories, Canada, 1998-2018

<p>10 transects were established in the years following fire in boreal forest stands on the Taiga Shield, Northwest Territories, Canada in 1998-1999. These were remeasured annually. Six transects were returned to on 2018 for another measurement. At each measurement, we recorded ground covers, species identities, and counted tree stems (seedlings).</p>
