Self-synchronized cost-effective time-resolved measurements at x-ray free-electron lasers with femtosecond resolution

<p>In compliance with guidelines from SNSF (Swiss National Science Foundation), we upload the raw data that belongs to a publication we submitted to <em>Physical Review Research</em>.<br> The dataset also contains the analysis scripts used to produce the plots we show in the publication.</p> <p>Our software is attached to the dataset. An installation of the well known ELEGANT code is required to run it.</p> <p>Shortly after upload of the first version of this dataset, a bug was found in the analysis software.<br> The second version contains the corrected software.</p>

EduRa database: room models based on room acoustic measurements in primary and preschools

<p>This database provides five representative rooms in primary schools and preschools for acoustic simulations. A set of (binaural) room impulse responses (RIRs) simulated using an adult and a child artificial head are included for each room.</p> <p>Room acoustic measurements were carried out in Aachen&rsquo;s primary schools and preschools, where 8 classrooms, 10 playrooms, 3 gyms, 3 multi-purpose rooms and 3 sports rooms were assessed. The dimensions and room acoustic parameters were then clustered to achieve five representative sceneries. Shoebox models with little furniture were created using the average dimension of each cluster, and room acoustic simulations yielding for the average reverberation time of each cluster were done to obtain the (binaural) RIRs.</p>

Estimation of sulfuric acid concentrations using ambient ion composition and concentration data obtained by ion mass spectrometry measurements (APi-TOF)

<p>The dataset has been used to estimate the sulfuric acid concentration from APi-TOF data. Using the bisulfate ion, the sulfuric acid molecule clustered with the bisulfate ion (dimer) and the trimer, we were able to determine the daytime concentration of sulfuric acid with the concentration of ambient ions, including the condensation sink, ion-ion recombination and collision rate of HSO4- with H2SO4.</p>

Permittivity of AuAg alloys along with calculations and measurements of the alloyed Fano-resonant structures

<p>Here I present the data corresponding to the manuscript &quot;Low temperature annealing method for fabricating alloy nanostructures and metasurfaces: Unlocking a novel degree of freedom&quot; (arXiv:2105.02461). In this work, I have provided a technique of alloying AuAg at low temperature. Here I present the measured ellipsometric data of the AuAg alloys alloyed at low temperatures and measurements of the single structure AuAg alloyed 4-rod Fano-resonance nanostructures. I have also provided the calculations of the Fano-resonant structures using the permittivity of the Rioux model as well as well as the permittivity obtained from the Rioux model. Each .zip file is associated with a Readme file explaining everything in greater details.</p>

Genetic and fitness measurements of Brighamia accessions for APPS

<p><span><span><strong>Premise of the study:</strong><i> </i>Living collections maintained for generations are at risk of diversity loss, inbreeding, and adaptation to cultivation. To address these concerns the zoo community uses pedigrees to track individuals and implement crosses that maximize founder contributions and minimize inbreeding. Using a pedigree management approach in an exceptional plant, we demonstrate how conducting such strategic crosses can minimize genetic issues that have arisen under current practices. </span></span></p> <p><span><span><strong>Methods:</strong> We performed crosses between these collections and compared the fitness of progeny, including plant performance and reproductive health. We genotyped the progeny and paternal accessions to measure changes in diversity and relatedness within and between accessions. </span></span></p> <p><span><span><strong>Results:</strong><i> </i>The mean relatedness among individuals of an accession, suggests they are full siblings. As a result there was high inbreeding and low diversity within an accession, although less so among accessions. Progeny from the wider crosses had increased genetic diversity, while selfed accessions were smaller and less fertile. </span></span></p> <p><span><span><strong>Discussion:</strong> Institutions which hold exceptional species should consider how diversity is maintained within their collections. Implementing a pedigree-based approach to managing reproduction of ex situ plants will slow the inevitable loss of genetic diversity and in turn, result in healthier collections. </span></span></p>

Adult male baseball pitchers anthropometric measurements and pitching velocity in tryout settings

<p>In this study, we adopted field tests executed using affordable equipment in a tryout event for a professional baseball team in Taiwan, 2019. We have only half day to test 64 players, and the result of measurement are used to develop a model for predicting pitching velocity of&nbsp; amateur adult pitchers (age: 23.9 &plusmn; 2.8 years; height: 180.3 &plusmn; 5.9 cm; weight: 81.4 &plusmn; 10.9 kg) . The measurements and tests in tryout settings should be easy to implement, take short time, do not need high skill levels, and correlate to the pitching velocity. The outcome measures included maximum external shoulder rotation, maximum internal shoulder rotation, countermovement jump (CMJ) height, 20-kg loaded CMJ height, 30-m sprint time, height, age, and weight tests.&nbsp;</p>

Morphometric trait measurements of Arctic char in foothill lakes of arctic Alaska

<p class="CxSpFirst">Polymorphism facilitates coexistence of divergent morphs (e.g., phenotypes) of the same species by minimizing intraspecific competition, especially when resources are limiting. Arctic char <i>(Salvelinus sp</i>.) are a Holarctic fish often forming morphologically, and sometimes genetically, divergent morphs. In this study, we assessed the morphological and genetic diversity and divergence of 263 individuals from seven populations of arctic char with varying length-frequency distributions across two distinct groups of lakes in northern Alaska. Despite close geographic proximity, each lake group occurs on landscapes with different glacial ages and surface water connectivity, and thus were likely colonized by fishes at different times. Across lakes, a continuum of physical (e.g., lake area, maximum depth) and biological characteristics (e.g., primary productivity, fish density) exists, likely contributing to characteristics of present-day char populations. Although some lakes exhibit bimodal size distributions, using model-based clustering of morphometric traits corrected for allometry, we did not detect morphological differences within and across char populations. Genomic analyses using 15,934 SNPs obtained from genotyping-by-sequencing demonstrated differences among lake groups related to historical biogeography, but within lake groups and within individual lakes, genetic differentiation was not related to total body length. We used PERMANOVA to identify environmental and biological factors related to observed char size structure. Significant predictors included water transparency (i.e., a primary productivity proxy), char density (fish·ha<sup>-1</sup>), and lake group. Larger char occurred in lakes with greater primary production and lower char densities, suggesting less intraspecific competition and resource limitation. Thus, char populations in more productive and connected lakes may prove more stable to environmental changes, relative to food-limited and closed lakes, if lake productivity increases concomitantly. Our findings provide some of the first descriptions of genomic characteristics of char populations in arctic Alaska, and offer important consideration for the persistence of these populations for subsistence and conservation.</p>

Results of statistical analyses of the comparison of phosphorous measurement laboratory methods

<p>The study in the related article compares the phosphorus (P) analysis methods of ammonium lactate (AL), Mehlich 3 (M3); water extraction (P-WA(P)&amp;P-WA(PO<sub>4</sub>)), cobalt hexamine (CoHex) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF, as an estimate of total soil P). The ratio of the P-content/XRF was calculated and compared with the whole dataset first. Based on the comparison of all the data there were significant differences between the results of P-WA(P) and P-WA(PO<sub>4</sub>) vs M3 and AL, CoHex vs M3 and CoHex vs AL methods (p&lt;0.001). The influencing factors were also analysed for a more in-depth understanding of their role (CaCO<sub>3</sub>-content, pH, soil texture and clay content). The file contains the results of the statistical analyses.</p>

Datasets of Indoor UWB Measurements for Ranging and Positioning in Good and Challenging Scenarios

<p>This is a dataset of ranging and positioning measurements collected from an UWB development board. The Real Time Location System based on UWB is set up in a laboratory. Data were captured in the static laboratory environment with different conditions that affects to the positioning performance. In the lab, scenarios with different propagation conditions between the nodes and different geometries were set up. We consider good, challenging, and intermediate scenarios with: Line of Sight (LOS) and Non-LOS propagation conditions as well as easy and challenging geometries. These datasets may be used, for example, for investing and validating ranging and positioning algorithms in different scenarios. A detailed description is provided in the file README.pdf</p>
