Effective management for deadwood-dwelling lichen diversity requires landscape-scale habitat protection
<ol> <li>Habitat loss is considered a major threat for biodiversity. However, the scales on which its effects occur are still insufficiently understood, namely, is the amount of available habitat important for species richness on both local and landscape scales? We studied the effects of local and landscape-scale habitat amount on local-scale species density of deadwood-dependent lichens in Swedish boreal forests. Creation and retention of dead wood are common practices to benefit forest biodiversity, and recognizing the relevant scale is critical for them to be successful.</li> <li>We surveyed deadwood-dependent lichens in 90 unmanaged forest stands that differed in the local and landscape habitat amount. The local habitat amount was measured as the amount of dead wood in the sampled stands (m<sup>2</sup> dead wood/ha), while six alternative proxies were used to estimate the landscape habitat amount, i.e., the amount of dead wood in the landscapes surrounding the sampled forest stands. Lichen species density (number of species per standardized dead wood area of 3.7 m<sup>2</sup>) was modelled as a function of local habitat amount and landscape habitat amount at multiple scales (300 m – 5 km from the stands).</li> <li>We found that lichen species density increased with the landscape habitat amount. The proportion of old forests (> 100 years, including newly clear-cut stands that until recently were old forests) within 5 km from the studied stands explained species density better than the other proxies of landscape habitat amount. Local dead wood amount did not affect species density, and there was no interaction between the local and landscape habitat amount. </li> <li> <em>Synthesis and applications</em>: To promote the conservation of deadwood-dependent lichens, the amount of old forests in managed forest landscapes should be maintained or increased. A certain amount of dead wood hosted more lichen species when situated in a landscape with more old forest, while there was no effect of the local dead wood amount. This suggests that management aimed at increasing the local species density of deadwood-dwelling lichens should focus on creating and maintaining habitat in the surrounding landscape rather than on only adding deadwood to that local site. In other words, effective management for deadwood-dependent lichen diversity requires landscape-scale habitat protection.</li> </ol>

Software Requirements Data Set
<p>For automatic software requirements specification (SRS) processing and quality evaluation, we have collected textual requirements from four different sources:</p> <ul> <li>a set of requirements from the PUblic REquirements (PURE) dataset (folders prefixed with upper case 'P') [<a href="https://zenodo.org/record/7118517">https://zenodo.org/record/7118517</a>],</li> <li>a set of requirements collected by Hayes et al. (folders prefixed with upper case 'H') [<a href="https://doi.org/10.1109/REW.2019.00052">https://doi.org/10.1109/REW.2019.00052</a>],</li> <li>a set of requirements provided by Dalpiaz (folders prefixed with lower case 'g') [<a href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.infsof.2018.12.007">https://doi.org/10.1016/j.infsof.2018.12.007</a>],</li> <li>a custom collection of requirements found in the Internet (folders prefixed with upper case 'C').<br> </li> </ul> <p>We preserve the original file of the requirements (TXT, PDF, RTF, DOC or HTML) and add a plain text conversion (files called <code>_Raw.txt</code>) or, for some of them, Markdown form (files called <code>_Raw.md</code>). For some of them, we have extracted part of functional requirements (files called <code>FunctionalRequirements</code>) or functional specification relevant parts (files called<code> AllRelevant)</code>.</p>
Dataset for Requirements Classification in Traceability Link Recovery Datasets

As SMOS and eAnci's original requirements were written in Italian, the dataset comprises automatically translated versions of the requirements to English. Governing Migration and Social Cohesion through Integration Requirements
<p>This socio-legal project questions how and with what effects the notion of “integration” has become, in migration law, administrative and court practice, a decisive criterion based on which states select which migrants shall be granted or denied access to specific rights (e.g., right of abode, political rights, right to family reunification). This affects the way social cohesion is strived for and reveals how both in law and practice social cohesion is conceived of and who is considered to belong or not. Based on the analysis of legal texts, ethnographic data and documents our research contributes to understanding how state officials deal with different categories of mobile or sedentary foreign nationals (in terms of gender, class, ethnicity, religion, age, etc.) when deciding about the allocation or denial of rights based on the criterion of “being integrated”. The underlying rationales of policies and practices are to be interpreted within broader processes of social transformation, e.g., the rise of the human rights regime, of neoliberalism, and of a “culture of control”. Switzerland is at the center of the study. The study implies an inter-cantonal and an international comparison with two contrasting European welfare states: Germany and Sweden.</p>
SatTerm experience: vocabulary control and facet analysis help improve the software requirement solicitation process
<p>One of the most difficult steps in the software development process is moving from requirements written in natural, uncontrolled language, to the formalisms required by the design modelling languages. To solve this issue, practitioners should pay attention to the possibility of applying vocabulary control and knowledge representation techniques to produce better specifications. The use of controlled vocabularies and the modelling of the conceptual relationships between concepts in a specific domain are expected to improve the quality of the specifications.<br> Vocabulary control and semantic modelling are promising tools to avoid the most frequent problems in the requirements specification process: lack of consistency and ambiguity. This paper provides a detailed description of the development process of an ontology used for requirements modelling in the area of satellite control systems. The process applied is based on well-established practices and guidelines applied for the construction of controlled vocabularies and faceted classifications schemas. Engineers can use the ontology when writing system specifications using predefined templates. The use of this ontology ensures the consistency of the specifications written by different engineers improves the communication with other parties involved in the system construction activities and sets the foundations for a semi-automated generation of models for subsequent design activities.</p>
