<p><strong>Introduction</strong></p> <p>The supporting information for this paper consists of a movie version of Figure 2 in the main paper, comparing the high frequency (HF) amateur radio observations to differential Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Total Electron Content (TEC) measurements. In this revised version of the repository, the TEC data has been reprocessed such that all GNSS data with elevation angles down to 10 degrees were kept when applying the Savitzky–Golay (SG) filter. After the SG filter was applied, data with elevation angles below 30 degrees were discarded. Discovery of 24 radio-bright quasars at 4.9<z<6.6 using low-frequency radio observations
<p>Properties of newly discovered high-z quasars (4.9<z<6.6) derived from photometric and spectroscopic observations. The radio measurements have been obtained using the LOFAR Two Metre Sky Survey (LoTSS-DR2; 144 MHz), VLA FIRST (1.4 GHz), and Very Large Array Sky Survey (VLASS; 2-4 GHz). The spectroscopic observations have been conducted using the Faint Object Camera and Spectrograph on the Subaru telescope, LRS2 on the Hobby-Eberly Telescope, and LRIS on Keck. The rest-frame UV magnitudes have been derived by combining the optical to mid-infrared observations and performing spectral energy distribution fitting using the template fitting code EAZY (Brammer et al 2008).</p>

A radio telescope is a specialized antenna and radio receiver used to receive radio waves from astronomical radio sources in the sky. Radio telescopes are the main observing instrument used in radio astronomy, which studies the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum emitted by astronomical objects, just as optical telescopes are the main observing instrument used in traditional optical astronomy which studies the light wave portion of the spectrum coming from astronomical objects. AGNfitter-rx: Modelling the radio-to-X-ray SEDs of AGNs (Appendix)
<p>The folder contains the highest-likelihood SED fittings of 28 local Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) obtained by applying AGNfitter-rx with diverse emission models. AGNfitter-rx is a publicly available Bayesian code, which models the broad-band photometry covering the radio, infrared (IR), optical, ultraviolet (UV) and X-ray bands consistently, using a combination of theoretical and semi-empirical models of the AGN and host galaxy emission. </p> <p>The yellow and green solid curves in the plots show the emission from the stellar population and cold dust of the galaxy, respectively. Purple, dark blue and light blue solid curves show the torus, accretion disk, and radio AGN emission models, respectively. 10 models constructed from combinations of parameters randomly selected from the posterior PDFs (called realizations) are plotted as a shaded area and the residuals of each fit realization are presented in the subplot below each source. A flexible energy balance prior was assumed so that the cold dust IR emission is at least comparable to the dust-absorbed stellar emission. Also the photometric input catalog is included as a txt file.</p> <p>The physical interpretation of the inferred parameters and a discussion of the model comparison is described in an associated publication, available at https://arxiv.org/abs/2405.12111 (Martinez-Ramirez et al. 2024, accepted to A&A)</p>

<p>Radio emission from streamer discharges<br><br>This dataset contains files related to the paper "Calculating radio emissions of positive streamer phenomena using 3D simulations" by Malla et al. The content is described below.</p> <p><strong>experimental_radio_emission & experimental_current_change<br></strong></p> <p>This dataset includes: 1) discharge images in .tif files, and 2) waveforms recorded by oscilloscope in .trc files. (C1: voltage, C2: current, C3: ICCD monitor, C4: antenna. Traces No.0 are waveforms without discharge.)</p> <p><strong>jefimenko_code<br></strong>This directory contains the code used to convert simulation output to radiated fields. After simulation output is stored, time derivatives are computed using `convert_silo_files.sh`. The `jefimenko.f90` code is then used to compute radiated electric fields. These two steps can be combined as in the script `convert_and_compute_emission.sh`.</p> <p><strong>computed_radiated_fields<br></strong>This directory contains the radiated electric fields versus time as computed by the above procedure.</p> <p><strong>simulation_config_files<br></strong>This directory contains configuration files that can be used to reproduce the simulation results with the [afivo-streamer](https://github.com/MD-CWI/afivo-streamer) simulation code (commit 016d497, newer should also work).</p> <p><strong>simulation_log_files</strong><br>This directory contains the log files produced by the simulations, which contain information on e.g. the maximal electric field, the total amount of dissipated energy, the number of grid cells etc.</p>

LoRa on Ice: dataset to evaluate the LoRa radio technology for sea ice research in Antarctica
<p>We present the design and implementation of a wireless sensor network (WSN) tailored for sea ice research. Our custom-built data acquisition unit employs Long Range (LoRa) radio technology and the Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) protocol. We describe the deployment of a scientific measurement system in the vicinity of the Neumayer III research station in Antarctica, utilizing IoT technologies.<br>This dataset contains different measurements to evaluate the performance of the LoRa radio link and the LoRaWAN protocol. In this work we use a data acquisition unit sending data via LoRa using the LoRaWAN protocol. The data acquisition unit is a custom made electronics designed to sample data from connected sensors used for sea ice research in Antarctica. Three datasets are available to evaluate the performance of the LoRa radio technology and the LoRaWAN protocol: one range test on a motor boat in Germany and two range tests performed in Antarctica near the Neumayer III station. </p>

Data from: Sex-specific responses to territorial intrusions in a communication network: evidence from radio-tagged great tits
Signals play a key role in the ecology and evolution of animal populations, influencing processes such as sexual selection and conflict resolution. In many species, sexually selected signals have a dual function: attracting mates and repelling rivals. Yet, to what extent males and females under natural conditions differentially respond to such signals remains poorly understood, due to a lack of field studies that simultaneously track both sexes. Using a novel spatial tracking system, we tested whether or not the spatial behavior of male and female great tits (Parus major) changes in relation to the response of a territorial male neighbor to an intruder. We tracked the spatial behavior of male and female great tits (N = 44), 1 hr before and 1 hr after simulating territory intrusions, employing automatized Encounternet radio-tracking technology. We recorded the spatial and vocal response of the challenged males and quantified attraction and repulsion of neighboring males and females to the intrusion site. We additionally quantified the direct proximity network of the challenged male. The strength of a male's vocal response to an intruder induced sex-dependent movements in the neighborhood, via female attraction and male repulsion. Stronger vocal responders were older and in better body condition. The proximity networks of the male vocal responders, including the number of sex-dependent connections and average time spent with connections, did not change directly following the intrusion. The effects on neighbor movements suggest that the strength of a male's vocal response can provide relevant social information to both the males and the females in the neighborhood, resulting in both sexes adjusting their spatial behavior in contrasting ways, while the social proximity network remained stable. Moreover, our study underlines the importance of the "silent" eavesdroppers within communication networks for studying the dual functioning and evolution of sexually selected signals.
