MLS/Aura Level 3 Monthly Binned Carbon Monoxide (CO) Mixing Ratio on Assorted Grids V004 (ML3MBCO) at GES DISC

ML3MBCO is the EOS Aura Microwave Limb Sounder (MLS) monthly binned on various vertical grids product for carbon monoxide (CO) derived from radiances measured by the 640 GHz radiometer. The data version is 4.2. Data coverage is from August 2004 to current. Spatial coverage is near-global (-82 to +82 degrees latitude), with a spatial resolution of 4 degrees latitude by 5 degrees longitude. The recommended useful vertical range is between 215 and 0.00464 hPa, and the vertical resolution is about 6 km. Users of the ML3MBCO data product should read chapter 4 and section 3.7 of the EOS MLS Level 2 Version 4 Quality Document for more information.The data files are archived in the netCDF4 format, which is also compatible with HDF5 readers and tools. ACT-America: L2 In Situ Atmospheric CO2, CO, CH4, and O3 Concentrations, Eastern USA

This dataset provides atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), methane (CH4), water vapor (H2O), and ozone (O3) concentrations collected during airborne campaigns conducted by the Atmospheric Carbon and Transport-America (ACT-America) project. ACT-America's mission spanned 4 years and included five 6-week airborne campaigns covering all 4 seasons and 3 regions of the central and eastern United States. This dataset provides results from all five campaigns, including Summer 2016, Winter 2017, Fall 2017, Spring 2018, and Summer 2019. Two instrumented aircraft platforms, the NASA Langley Beechcraft B200 King Air and the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's C-130H Hercules, were used to collect high-quality in situ measurements across a variety of continental surfaces and atmospheric conditions. CO2, CO, CH4, and H2O were collected with an infrared cavity ring-down spectrometer system (CRDS; Picarro Inc.). Ozone data were collected with a dual beam differential UV absorption ozone monitor (Model 205; 2B Technologies). Both aircraft hosted identical arrays of in situ sensors. Complete aircraft flight information including, but not limited to, latitude, longitude, altitude, and meteorological conditions are also provided.

CARVE: CH4, CO2, and CO Atmospheric Concentrations, CARVE Tower, Alaska, 2012-2014

This data set provides hourly atmospheric concentrations of methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), and carbon monoxide (CO) as mole fractions, from January 2012 to December 2014 measured at the CARVE flux tower in Fox, Alaska (17 km north of Fairbanks) as part of NASA's Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE). High-resolution meteorological fields from the Polar Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model coupled with the Stochastic Time-Inverted Lagrangian Transport model (WRF- STILT), along with the Polar Vegetation Photosynthesis and Respiration Model (PolarVPRM) were used to determine the influence region of the tower site and investigate the inter-annual and seasonal variability of regional fluxes of CO2 and CH4 in boreal Alaska using the tower observations. Modeled estimates of CH4, CO2, and CO background concentrations are provided. The WRF-STILT model "footprints" for the CARVE tower are provided with this data set.

ECOSTRESS/OCO-3 Co-Located Observations

The ECOSTRESS/OCO-3 (“ECOCO3”) data set consists of spatially and temporally co-located observations from the ECOsystem Spaceborne Thermal Radiometer Experiment on Space Station (ECOSTRESS) and the Orbiting Carbon Observatory 3 (OCO-3) instruments currently operating on the International Space Station. Land Surface Temperature, Evapotranspiration, and Water Use Efficiency data products from ECOSTRESS, and Solar-Induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence and Dry-Air Column Mole Fraction CO2 from OCO-3 are matched in space and time over 3°x3° areas across the globe where OCO-3 performs Snapshot Area Map and Target mode observations. The original, native resolution data products are filtered for data quality and spatially averaged onto a 0.005°x0.005° uniform grid, i.e., 557m x 557m or 0.3km2 at the Equator. The aim of the ECOCO3 product is to provide users with synergistic, high-quality data of terrestrial vegetation and atmospheric parameters, for easy and ready use in scientific analysis and modeling. The initial V1.0 release is based on ECOSTRESS Collection 1 and OCO-3 Version 11 data products, for the common measurement period of August 2019 through January 2023, from the start of OCO-3 observations through the end of ECOSTRESS Collection 1.

LBA-ECO CD-10 CO Concentrations at km 67 Tower Site, Tapajos National Forest

This data set contains half-hourly average CO mixing ratios measured from 2001/04/18 to 2003/08/29 in the old-growth upland forest at the Para Western (Santarem) - km 67, Primary Forest Tower Site. This site is in the Tapajos National Forest located in north central Brazil.CO concentrations were measured in air drawn from above the canopy top of tower (approx. 64 meters) using a TEI 48CTL instrument modified for increased stability and sensitivity. The sensor was frequently zeroed by passing ambient air over a CO oxidation catalyst. The span was checked 4 times daily by sampling calibration gases at 100 and 500 ppb. Time in the file is given in UTC (decimal date) at the start of each half hour interval.Associated meteorological parameters, CO2 concentrations and micrometerological fluxes are available in LBA-ECO CD-10 CO2 and H2O Eddy Flux Data at km 67 Tower Site, Tapajos National Forest.

Effect of electromagnetic fields on the chondrogenic differentiation under microgravity conditions

A combination therapy of electromagnetic fields (EMF) and simulated microgravity (SMG) has not been examined in regenerative medicine of cartilage. In the present study a bioreactor system using extremely low-frequency EMF and SMG was applied during the chondrogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs). It was hypothesized that a beneficial effect of EMF regarding chondrogenesis (COL2A) could be combined with an avoiding effect of SMG regarding hypertrophy (COLXA1) of cartilage. Pellet cultures of hMSCs formed cartilaginous tissue under the addition of growth factors (FGF; TGF-beta3). Pure SMG reduced COLXA1 expression but also COL2A expression of hMSCs. Pure EMF showed no gene expression changes of hMSCs during chondrogenic differentiation. Combining EMF/SMG resulted in a re-increase of COL2A but did not reach control levels. The COL2A to COLXA1 ratio of combined EMF/SMG was not significantly different from control levels. CARVE: L2 Merged Atmospheric CO2, CO, O3 and CH4 Concentrations, Alaska, 2012-2015

This data set provides atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), ozone (O3), and water vapor (H2O) concentrations from airborne campaigns over the Alaskan and Canadian arctic for the Carbon in Arctic Reservoirs Vulnerability Experiment (CARVE). These data are merged and gap-filled outputs from two different cavity ring-down spectrometers (CRDS; Picarro Inc.) flown aboard the CARVE aircraft and are presented at 5-second intervals throughout each flight. Aircraft latitude, longitude, and altitude are also provided. Flight campaigns took place from 2012 to 2015 between the months of March and November to enable investigation of both seasonal and inter-annual variability in atmospheric gas content. The measurements included in this data set are crucial for understanding changes in Arctic carbon cycling and the potential threats posed by thawing of Arctic permafrost.

Sentinel-5P TROPOMI Carbon Monoxide CO Column 1-Orbit L2 5.5km x 7km V2 (S5P_L2__CO_____HiR) at GES DISC

Starting from August 6th in 2019, Sentinel-5P TROPOMI along-track high spatial resolution (~5.5km at nadir) has been implemented.For data before August 6th of 2019, please check S5P_L2__CO_____1 data collection.The Copernicus Sentinel-5 Precursor (Sentinel-5P or S5P) satellite mission is one of the European Space Agency's (ESA) new mission family - Sentinels, and it is a joint initiative between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the ESA. The sole payload on Sentinel-5P is the TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI), which is a nadir-viewing 108 degree Field-of-View push-broom grating hyperspectral spectrometer, covering the wavelength of ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS, 270nm to 495nm), near infrared (NIR, 675nm to 775nm), and shortwave infrared (SWIR, 2305nm-2385nm). Sentinel-5P is the first of the Atmospheric Composition Sentinels and is expected to provide measurements of ozone, NO2, SO2, CH4, CO, formaldehyde, aerosols and cloud at high spatial, temporal and spectral resolutions.The TROPOMI Carbon Monoxide total column applies a modified SWIR CO retrieval (SICOR) algorithm based on the CO absorption band between 2305 nm and 2385 nm. The S5P SICOR algorithm accounts for cloudy and aerosol loaded atmosphere conditions and is suitable for clear sky observations over land and cloudy observations over both land and oceans.
