Experimental Studies of Pollination of Viburnum edule (highbush cranberry) Collected in the Spring of 2020 and 2021 at Interior Alaska Sites around Fairbanks, Alaska
This dataset contains the results of experimental studies of pollination of Viburnum edule (highbush cranberry) in spring of 2020 and 2021. It compares pollinator visitation rates, pollen deposition, and the composition of the pollinator community between inflorescences exposed at the very start of the flowering period and at peak flowering and between the two years . It also contains the results of a pollinator exclusion experiment conducted in spring of 2020.

Standard Lengths and Mean Weights for Prey-base Fishes from Taylor River and Joe Bay Sites, Everglades National Park (FCE), South Florida from January 2000 to April 2004
Prey-base fishes. The small demersal fishes of the coastal wetlands are a keystone element in this ecosystem. They are the primary and secondary consumers of the plants mentioned above and they are the primary food resource for myriad piscine (e.g. game species of fish), reptilian (e.g. juvenile crocodiles) and avian (e.g. wading birds) predators. The community dynamics of these fishes are dictated by hydrologic and hydrographic parameters so they also respond predictably to water management practices. Because they are a bottle-neck in the food web, their abundance and availability dictate the success of higher trophic levels. Fish are sampled in June, September and monthly from November through April at five locations. A 9m2 drop trap designed specifically for this habitat are used to quantify fish use. Nine traps are used at each site.
Florida Coastal Everglades LTER Research Sites in Everglades National Park, Florida, USA, January 2003 - ongoing
The dataset includes shapefile point locations for all current and past Florida Coastal Everglades LTER sites along the two major drainages in Everglades National Park, Shark River Slough and Taylor Slough. Timothy Russell used a GeoExplorer 3 to record GPS coordinates at all FCE LTER research sites that existed in 2003. Michael Rugge added coordinates of FCE LTER research sites recorded after 2003 to the shapefile.
Sediment elevation measurements for 10 GCE-LTER sampling sites from December 2001 to December 2020
Soil surface elevation was measured in tidal marshes at 10 GCE-LTER sampling sites from December 2001 to December 2020 using a sediment elevation table method. The sites represent three estuaries of the Georgia coast (USA) that vary in delivery of freshwater and sediment. The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of freshwater input on marsh accretion and subsidence. In 2013, rod SETs were added at site 11 and installed to replace broken SETs at sites 7 and 9 (which broke in 2012).
Fall 2007 plant monitoring survey -- shoot height and flowering status of plants in permanent plots at GCE sampling sites 1-10
A quadrat survey was conducted in October 2007 to measure the species and size distribution of plants at 10 GCE LTER sampling sites. The quadrats were established as permanent plots at GCE sampling sites in October 2000 by placing wooden stakes at random locations across two nominal zones at each site, designated based on marsh structure (creekbank and high marsh). Several new plots were also added in October 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 to replace those lost due to catastrophic wrack disturbance or creek bank erosion. The plots were visually surveyed and the species, shoot height, and flowering status was recorded individually for each shoot over 10 cm in height present in each plot. Observations from plots exhibiting signs of disturbance were noted in the data set with additional details recorded in GCE data set PLT-GCEM-1801. This survey will be repeated annually to assess changes in plant distribution and biomass in relation to environmental changes documented by other GCE LTER monitoring efforts.

Biomass was only calculated for dominant species, including Spartina alterniflora, S. cynosuroides, Juncus roemerianus, and Zizaniopsis miliacea. This data set is based on GCE plant monitoring survey data set PLT-GCEM-0801a, and allometric relationships were based on GCE data sets PLT-GCEM-0211b, PLT-GCEM-0711, and PLT-GCEM-2011.

To characterize spatial variation in the adult and juvenile density of periwinkle snails, Littoraria irrorata, within two zones in the salt marsh, the mid-marsh and creekbank, and across a gradient in salinity and distance to ocean, we surveyed snail density in October 2013. In each marsh zone at each GCE LTER permanent monitoring site, we counted the number of adult and juvenile snails in 8 replicate quadrats. Data was collected at all GCE domain sites as well as one additional Zizaniopsis site (label SCZ2).
