Metadata of the Top 40 Journals in Distance Education: A Bibliometric Analysis of Impact 2018-2022
<p>This file contains metadata from the 40 most impactful journals in the field of distance education, selected through a rigorous bibliometric analysis using the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) indicator provided by SCImago. Two main criteria guided the selection: the first targeted journals ranked in Q1 and Q2 in the specific category of "e-learning" within the social sciences and education area, highlighting publications that demonstrate high impact and relevance in the academic community according to the selected indicator. The second criterion was based on keyword searches in the journal titles, selecting those that include terms like e-learning, online, Distance Education, Technology Learning, Communications in Information, and Information Education and their variants (e.g., plural), also positioned in Q1 or Q2.</p> <p>The metadata, extracted from the Scopus database, covers publications from the period 2018 to 2022 and includes vital information such as document type, authors' names, article title, journal name, publication year, pages, volume, and issue number. Additionally, each article is identified by a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and URLs for direct access to the full text online, along with abstracts and keywords. Additional raw video and pose estimation data of top view open field mouse behavior recordings after diazepam injections
<p>This repository contains raw data for 32 different open field recordings of mice. These include top view raw video .mp4 files (Videos.zip and Videos_2.zip) and the corresponding .csv pose estimation data (data.zip) obtained with DeepLabCut. The data is from a single diazepam injection experiment at Roche, where animals were injected with saline, 1 mg/kg, 2 mg/kg or 3 mg/kg of diazepam. The METADATA_ROCHE.csv or METADATA_ROCHE.xlsx files contain all grouping variables and help linking the pose estimation files (located in data/) to the video files. Tranco 29-3-23 top 10K crawled with T.EX
<p>A single stateful crawl (1 x Chrome) of the Tranco top 10K websites (as of 29th of March 2023) is performed on the 30th of March 2023 with T.EX (see: <a href="https://github.com/t-ex-tools/t.ex">https://github.com/t-ex-tools/t.ex</a>). Measurements had been carried out on 1 Amazon Web Services instances (c5.large) running Windows Server. All instances were launched in Frankfurt, Germany (eu-central-1).</p> <p>After completing the crawls, each instance's extension storage was extracted (see <a href="https://github.com/t-ex-tools/t.ex">https://github.com/t-ex-tools/t.ex</a> for help using the datasets).</p>
Data from: Insectivorous birds and bats outperform ants in the top-down regulation of arthropods across strata of a Japanese temperate forest
<p>Birds, bats, and ants are recognized as significant arthropod predators. However, empirical studies reveal inconsistent trends in their relative roles in top-down control across strata. Here, we describe the differences between forest strata in the separate effects of birds, bats, and ants on arthropod densities and their cascading effects on plant damage. We implemented a factorial design to exclude vertebrates and ants in both the canopy and understory. Additionally, we separately excluded birds and bats from the understory using diurnal and nocturnal exclosures. At the end of the experiments, we collected all arthropods and assessed herbivory damage. Arthropods responded similarly to predator exclusion across forest strata, with a density increase of 81% on trees without vertebrates and 53% without both vertebrates and ants. Additionally, bird exclusion alone led to an 89% increase in arthropod density, while bat exclusion resulted in a 63% increase. Herbivory increased by 42% when vertebrates were excluded and by 35% when both vertebrates and ants were excluded. Bird exclusion alone increased herbivory damage by 28%, while the exclusion of bats showed a detectable but non-significant increase (by 22%). In contrast, ant exclusion had no significant effect on arthropod density or herbivory damage across strata. Our results reveal that the effects of birds and bats on arthropod density and herbivory damage are similar between the forest canopy and understory in this temperate forest. In addition, ants were not found to be significant predators in our system. Furthermore, birds, bats, and ants appeared to exhibit antagonistic relationships in influencing arthropod density. These findings highlight, unprecedentedly, the equal importance of birds and bats in maintaining ecological balance across different strata of a temperate forest.</p>
PBL Tops CLAMPS observations
<p>CLAMPS observations from both CLAMPS1 and CLAMPS2 during PBL Tops: Evaluating Polarimetric Retrievals of Boundary Layer Height Using State-of-the-Art Boundary Layer Profiling, a project supported by OU/CIWRO's Director's Discretionary Funds. Details about the instruments onboard CLAMPS can be found on the <a href="https://apps.nssl.noaa.gov/CLAMPS/instrumentation.php">NSSL CLAMPS</a> webpage. These datasets include boundary-layer profiles of wind, temperature, and humidity collected from the CLAMPS systems.</p> <p>These data can be accessed on the <a href="https://data.nssl.noaa.gov/thredds/catalog/FRDD/CLAMPS/campaigns/PBLtops/catalog.html">NOAA National Severe Storms THREDDS Archive</a>. The readme contained here provides information about how to access and available resources for users. </p> <p>Observations cover a 4-week observation period, split into two 2-week blocks. During block 1, each CLAMPS will deploy near KTLX (Norman, OK) at a radar-adjacent site (0-5 km) and a radar-distant site at Kessler Atmospheric and Ecologial Field Station (10-20 km), respectively. During block 2, the radar-distant CLAMPS will reposition to a radar-adjacent site at KSHV (Shreveport, LA). The observational approach providess one continuous 4-week time series within 5 km of KTLX. By moving the second CLAMPS platform between the two blocks (from Kessler Station to KSHV), the data can be used to evaluate differences due to distance from radar and the local climatology or land-use characteristics, which may modify expected boundary-layer evolution. </p> <p>Owing to the sparse distribution of atmospheric profilers, numerous studies have sought to use radar detection of Bragg scattering to observe the evolution of planetary boundary layer (BL) height, including efforts using the operational NWS WSR-88D network by Banghoff et al. (2018; hereafter B18) using. The B18 method uses quasi-vertical profiles obtained from azimuthal averaging (Ryzhkov et al. 2016) and offers the promise of national, real-time estimates of BL height. However, the B18 method was only initally validated using twice-daily radiosonde observations, thus obscuring its efficacy for retrieving BL height estimates during periods of evolution and complex structure (e.g., morning/evening transitions, residual layers, etc.). The observations in this dataset were collected in an effort to (1) validate the polarimetric B18 method using specialized independent measurements from both CLAMPS; (2) extend validation times to include important BL evolution periods beyond synoptic sampling times and identify failure periods and regimes; (3) contextualize and interpret signatures observed in B18 using novel near-continuous data (e.g., overnight signatures); and (4) quantify the skill of the B18 method.</p> <p>Banghoff, J.R., D.J.
