They are provided in a txt file format.</p> <p>"Identical metals in vacuum.zip" contains the room temperature Hamaker coefficients between 26 identical elemental polycrystalline metals that are embedded in vacuum computed from the <strong>full Lifshitz theory</strong> as a function of the separation of the metallic semi-spaces within 0-200nm. The employed discretization scheme is the following: for l = 0 − 1 nm, <span class="math-tex">\(\Delta{l}=0.1\,nm\)</span> which corresponds to 11 data points, for l = 1−200 nm: <span class="math-tex">\(\Delta{l}=1\,nm\)</span> which corresponds to 200 data points. Dendrochonological dataset related to a medieval chest from the city of Antwerp ('Privilegiekom') and several associated wooden boxes, as published by Haneca et al. 2022 in the International Journal of Wood Culture
<p>This repository contains detailed macro-photographs of the wood structure and tree-ring pattern observed on the examined elements of the medieval ‘Privilegiekom’ chest and individual wooden boxes that were stored inside this chest. On these digital macro-photographs the ring-width pattern could be accuratly measured, and are available in this repository as well. The recorded tree-ring series were further analysed and published by <strong>Haneca <em>et al. </em>2022</strong> in the <em><strong>International Journal of Wood Culture</strong></em>.</p>

<p>We provide the anonymized author dataset that was prepared for the research presented in <a href="https://arxiv.org/pdf/2203.15621.pdf">https://arxiv.org/pdf/2203.15621.pdf</a> . The data is provided as two pickled pandas data frames. The first data frame contains the number of publications each author has written in each year per author position (as 1st author etc.) and their assigned gender. The second file contains the corresponding country of affiliation for each author and year. Unwarranted Inferences from Statistical Mediation Tests – An Analysis of Articles Published in 2015
<p>Recent attempts to improve on the quality of psychological research focus on good practices required for statistical<br> significance testing. The scrutiny of theoretical reasoning, though superordinate, is largely neglected, as<br> exemplified here in a common misunderstanding of mediation analysis. Although a test of a mediation model<br> X -> Z -> Y is conditional on the premise that the model applies, alternative mediators Z′, Z″, Z‴ etc. remain<br> untested, and other causal models could underlie the correlation between X, Y, Z, researchers infer from a single<br> significant mediation test that they have identified the true mediator. A literature search of all mediation analyses<br> published in 2015 in Sciencedirect shows that the vast majority of studies neither consider alternative causal<br> models nor alternative mediator candidates. Ignoring that mediation analysis is conditional on the truth of the<br> focal mediation model, they pretend to have demonstrated that Z mediates the influence of X on Y. Recommendations<br> are provided for how to overcome this dissatisfying state of affairs.</p>

<p>These two .csv files are companion data for the book <em><a href="https://press.uchicago.edu/ucp/books/book/chicago/R/bo222256991.html">Reading Practice: The Pursuit of Natural Knowledge from Manuscript to Print</a> </em>(University of Chicago Press, 2024). They contain publication information for all "practical books" printed in England between 1476 and 1600. Practical books are defined as books published in English in any of the following genres:</p> <ul> <li>medical recipe collections</li> <li>herbals</li> <li>astrological manuals</li> <li>agricultural treatises</li> <li>anatomies</li> <li>surgeries</li> <li>dietaries or health regimens</li> <li>urinaries</li> <li>books on distillation</li> <li>gardening manuals</li> <li>books on hawking and hunting</li> <li>husbandry manuals</li> <li>veterinary medicine </li> </ul> <p>The publication information for the 479 books reflected in these spreadsheets were collected from the British Library's digital database, <a href="https://estc.bl.uk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">estc.bl.uk</a>, which contains information bibliographical data drawn from Katherine Pantzer, et al, eds., <em>A Short-Title Catalogue of Books Printed in England, Scotland, and Ireland, </em><em>and of English Books Printed Abroad, 1475–1640, </em>3 vols., revised and enlarged second edition (London: Bibliographical Society, 1976–1993). Note that as of summer 2024, the digital <em>ESTC</em> remains inaccessible following a cyber attack on the British Library. </p> <p>Both spreadsheets contain information on the same 479 titles, but the data in the second "standardized titles" spreadsheet has been cleaned in order to create standard titles for reeditions of the same texts. In other words, in the "standardized titles" spreadsheet, all editions of the same text are registered under the same title.</p>
