Digitizations of seesaw propagating ridges
<p>Digitizations of mid-ocean ridge features in support of "Ridge propagation and the stability of small mid-ocean ridge offsets" by Harper et al., (in prep).</p> <p>Vertical-Gravity-Gradient.kmz is a Google Earth network link to a global vertical gravity gradient image overlay. This was used to identify and digitize features.</p> <p>Digitizations.kmz contains the polyline digitizations of: off-axis traces of seesaw propagators (SSPs); ridge segments and offsets associated with active SSPs; and ridge segments and offsets associated with transform fault offsets (in the same regions as SSPs).</p>

<p>ABSTRACT</p> <p>The complex topography of mountainous landscapes can create biogeographic barriers and promote allopatric speciation—even among morphologically cryptic species. However, these biogeographic barriers are rarely permanent, and secondary contact between previously independently evolving populations may result in hybridization and introgression. Here, we use genome-wide SNP data to reexamine a classic example of cryptic species in the Appalachian Mountains: the slimy salamander (<em>Plethodon glutinosus</em>) species complex. This group of morphologically similar terrestrial salamanders includes 14 species with parapatric distributions across the eastern United States. In this study, we focused on the Chattahoochee Slimy Salamander in northern Georgia and used a series of complementary phylogenomic and population genomic analyses to evaluate spatial genetic structure within this species and demonstrate admixture with at least four other species of parapatric woodland salamanders. Our results highlight the utility of genomic data in clarifying species boundaries and underscore the difficulty of species delimitation in organisms with complex evolutionary histories.</p>

Ingenuity In Front Of "Raised Ridge"
On SOL-152 Ingenuity made its 10th flight. Unlike previous flights, this was intended to actualy scout the unique rock formation known as "Raised Ridge." This was due its location being in an area that could allow the Perseverance rover to become immobilized by the large sand dunes that the rover would have had to traverse through. It also allowed Ingenuity to test more of its capability for long programmed flights that required maneuvers to create somewhat of an inverted 'U" and hovering to take multiple shifted images to allow for parallax (stereo) viewing with anaglyph & polarized glasses for "3D" views. Even more important is the ability to create 3D models like this one with off-the-shelf photogrammetry tools like 'Reality Capture' and even Apple's free 'Object Capture'.
