Colouration in Local Wave Field Synthesis - Data
<p>This data set contains stimuli and results from two experiments for human perception of colouration in Stereophonics, Wave Field Synthesis (WFS), Near-Field-Compensated Higher-Order Ambisonics (NFC-HOA), Local Wave Field Synthesis using Spatial Bandwidth Limitation , and Local Wave Field Synthesis (LWFS-SBL) using Virtual Secondary Source (LWFS-VSS) simulated via binaural synthesis using head related impulse responses (HRIRs). The data for the two experiments is stored separately in `exp1.zip` and `exp2.zip`. Both files have the same structure: The corresponding binaural room scanning (BRS) files for the binaural simulation can be found in the directory `brs`. The employed stimuli is contained in `stimuli`. The Multiple Stimulus with Hidden Reference and Anchor (MUSHRA) ratings are stored in `results`. The `analysis` directory includes MATLAB/Octave scripts for the statistical evaluation in the publication. The main script is `analyse_results.m`. The source code is licensed under GPL v3.</p> <p>Abstract of the Publication:</p> <p>Sound Field Synthesis techniques including Wave Field Synthesis and Near-Field-Compensated Higher Order Ambisonics aim at a physically accurate reproduction of a desired sound field inside an extended listening area. This area is surrounded by loudspeakers individually driven by their respective driving signals. The latter have to be chosen such that the superposition of all emitted sound fields coincides with the desired one. Due to practical limitations, artefacts impair the synthesis accuracy resulting in a perceivable change in timbre. Recently, two approaches to so-called Local Wave Field Synthesis were published which enhance the reproduction accuracy in a limited region while allowing stronger artefacts outside. This work reports on two listening experiments comparing conventional techniques for Sound Field Synthesis with the mentioned approaches. Furthermore, the influence of different parametrisations for Local Wave Field Synthesis is investigated. The results show that the enhanced reproduction accuracy in Local Wave Field Synthesis leads to a reduction of perceived colouration, if a suitable parametrisation is chosen.</p>

Image Synthesis with a Convolutional Capsule Generative Adversarial Network- Dataset
<p><strong>Dataset of 152 two-photon images (512x512) of axons with segmentation labels. </strong></p> <p>We combined data from two published sources (Bass et al., 2017; Canty et al., 2018) to get 152 (512×512) 2D images (produced from 3D image stacks), and manually produced the corresponding labels. These images were collected using in-vivo two-photon microscopy from the mouse somatosensory cortex. To generate the 2D images, we used a max projection over the 3D stack. The labels are binary segmentation maps of the axons.</p> <p>This dataset is split into a train (132 images) and test (20 images) sets. The raw 2D images of axons are in /original folder, and the segmentation labels are in /mask folder.</p> <p><strong>Please cite the following paper when using this dataset:</strong></p> <p>Bass, C., Dai, T., Billot, B., Arulkumaran, K., Creswell, A., Clopath, C., De Paola, V., and Bharath, A. Figure 6 in Towards a global synthesis of Collembola knowledge - challenges and potential solutions
Figure 6. Example of a spatially-explicit soil sampling design, based on five nested triangles. Dots with numbers represent soil core samples, distributed between thee base poles (A, B, C). Distances between the samples follow a decimal logarithmic scale. The largest triangle edge length is 10 meters. Note that some samples are directly next to each other. A more extensive design based on triangles or rectangles can be found in Saraeva et al. (2015) or Widenfalk et al. (2015), respectively.
Figure 4 in Towards a global synthesis of Collembola knowledge - challenges and potential solutions
Figure 4. Ecosystem processes that can be affected by different functional groups of Collembola. Soil-dwelling Collembola such as Onychiuridae are associated with roots and involved in rhizosphere processes. Many litter-dwelling Isotomidae and Tomoceridae are associated with decomposition processes by grazing and transformation of litter. Most of Hypogastruridae and Neanuridae and litter-dwelling Entomobryidae are largely microbivores and impact directly microbial communities in the litter. Surface-dwelling Symphypleona, Entomobryidae and Paronellidae affect microbial biofilms aboveground. Collembola, especially large surface-dwelling species, support various groups of terrestrial invertebrate predators. Summarised from Potapov et al. (2020, 2016) and Rusek (1998).
