Predicted Arctic Beaded Stream Locations

<p>This dataset contains predicted beaded stream locations from an analysis of high-resolution satellite imagery, using both decision tree regression and object detection from You-Only-Look-Once algorithm (v5).&nbsp;Beaded streams are low-order streams found in high latitude regions near permafrost that&nbsp;form unique &#39;beads-on-a-string&#39; morphology in a pool-chute structure and represent an important habitat for Arctic grayling fish.</p> <p>Included here are estimated locations of catchments that contain beaded streams from a decision tree classification&nbsp;(MERIT_possible_beads.zip) based on a MERITHydro-Vector dataset (<a href="https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.13377329">https://doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.13377329</a>), circumpolar permafrost dataset (https://doi.org/10.7265/skbg-kf16), and a previous study on Arctic beaded streams (Arp et al., 2015; https://doi.org/10.5194/bgd-11-11391-2014).</p> <p>Also included is a list of&nbsp;catchments that were manually classified or classified by the Arp et al. Object neophilia in wild herring gulls in urban and rural locations

<p>Living with increasing urbanisation and human populations requires resourcefulness and flexibility in wild animals' behaviour. Animals have to adapt to anthropogenic novelty in habitat structure and resources that may not resemble, or be as beneficial as, natural resources. Herring gulls (Larus argentatus) increasingly reside in towns and cities to breed and forage, yet how gulls are adjusting their behaviour to life in urban areas is not yet fully understood. This study investigated wild herring gulls' responses to novel and common anthropogenic objects in urban and rural locations. We also examined whether gulls' age influenced their object response behaviour. We found that, out of the 126 individual gulls presented with objects, 34% approached them. This suggests that the majority of targeted gulls were wary or lacked interest in the experimental set-up. Of the 43 gulls that approached the objects, we found that those tested in urban locations approached more slowly than their rural counterparts. Overall, gulls showed no preference for either novel or common anthropogenic objects, and age did not influence likelihood of approach, approach speed or object choice. Individuals paid most attention to the object they approached first, potentially indicative of individual preferences. Our findings indicate that most herring gulls are not as attracted to anthropogenic objects as anecdotal reports have suggested. Covering up obvious food rewards may thus help mitigate human-gull conflict over anthropogenic food sources.</p>

Catalog of 3D DD Locations of the Irpinia Micro-Seismicity from 2008 to 2022

<p>The micro-seismicity catalog was obtained by analyzing a 89 data set consisting of about 2400 micro-earthquakes, with local magnitude (ML) ranging 90 between 0.5 and 3.2. These events were recorded by 42 ISNet and INGV stations from August 2005 to December 2022. We used manually picked first P- and S-wave arrival times from ISNet bulletin (http://isnet-bulletin.fisica.unina.it/cgi-bin/isnet-events/isnet.cgi), and&nbsp;integrated manually picks from INGV stations. Initially, we located the events with a probabilistic method (NLLoc, Lomax et al. 2009) and a 3D velocity model optimized&nbsp;for the area (De Landro et al., 2022), which allowed to obtain a first location catalog with an average RMS residual of 0.15 s and location errors smaller than 2 km. Successively, we refined the absolute 3D location with the double-difference approach (HypoDD, Waldauser &amp; Ellswort, 2000) by using catalog (CT) and cross-correlation (CC) differential times (Schaff&nbsp;&amp; Waldauser, 2005). The final residual RMS was 0.008 s for CC data and 0.03 s for CT data.&nbsp;The final location errors were within 100 meters for most of the events.</p> <p>Moreover, we provided the composite focal mechanisms of four clusters of this new micro-seismicity catalog. Similarly to Muzellec et al. (2023), we evaluated, for selected hypocenter clusters, the composite focal mechanisms by usinf FPFIT (Reasenberg, 1985) and integrating the polarities of co-located events for the construction of more constrained mechanisms. Furthermore, we integrated four additional focal mechanisms of single events. These were selected among the focal mechanisms available from the ISNet bulletin and refined by using the 3D location. To validate this selection, we compared them with those obtained by De Matteis et al. (2012), in which the author performed an extensive analysis of focal mechanisms and refined the stress field of the Irpinia region.</p>

Dataset: Location- and feature-based selection histories make independent, qualitatively distinct contributions to urgent visuomotor performance

<p>This dataset (packaged as the zip file history_share.zip) accompanies the article titled "Location- and feature-based selection histories make independent, qualitatively distinct contributions to urgent visuomotor performance" by EE Oor, E Salinas, and TR Stanford which is available as a preprint in bioRxiv. The experimental results in the article are based on behavioral data collected from 2 monkey subjects during performance of a visuomotor task (the compelled oddball task), as described in the text. This dataset contains the trial-by-trial behavioral results collected for each subject and upon which all subsequent analyses were based.</p> <p>In addition to the trial-wise data arrays (stored in the files dataC.csv, dataN.csv, and dataCN.csv), the package includes Matlab functions and scripts (*.m files) used to analyze the data and recreate the results and figures in the article. Instructions and specifics are detailed in the README file. &nbsp;</p>

Santiago Metro stations locations and connections

<p>The dataset contains the locations and the connections of the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santiago_Metro">Santiago Metro</a> stations.&nbsp;</p> <p>File `santiago_metro_stations_coords.geojson` contains the stations' latitude and longitude. The data was obtained from OpenStreetMap, using the<br>service https://overpass-turbo.eu/, with the query</p> <blockquote> <p>node<br>[public_transport=station]<br>[station=subway]<br>({{bbox}});<br>out;</p> </blockquote> <p>You need the city of Santiago on the map to use it as the bounding box.</p> <p>The file `santiago_metro_stations_connections.txt` contains the connections between the stations. Each line has the names of pairs of connected stations separated by a comma.
