<p>This is the full dataset of all tweets collected for the project "The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Bordering Discourses Regarding Migration and Mobility in Europe". The dataset contains over 75 000. It is designed to show how multi-level decision-making structures and processes react to emergency situations, and how unforeseen systemic pressures disrupt political narratives about migration and mobility. Drawing on previous research on bordering discourses in Europe, we seek to identify the perturbing impact of an external shock, in this case the Covid-19 pandemic, on established discursive practices in national parliaments and among policy-makers regarding migration, mobility and border controls in Europe.</p>
REFERENCES DATASET: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF THE EDUCATIONAL USE OF MOBILE PHONES IN TIMES OF COVID-19
<p>The article "A systematic review of the educational use of mobile phones in times of COVID-19" aims to review what research has delved into the educational use of mobile phones during the COVID-19 pandemic. To do this, 38 papers indexed in the Journal Citation Reports database between 2020 and 2021 were analyzed. These works were categorized into the following categories: the mobile phone as part of educational innovation, improvement of results and academic performance, positive attitude towards mobile phone use in education, and risks and/or barriers to mobile phone use. The conclusions show that most teaching innovation experiences focus more on the device than on the student. Beyond its innovative nature, the mobile phone became a tool to allow access and continuity of training during the pandemic, especially in post-compulsory and higher education.</p> <p>This data set is composed of the table with the references used for the review.</p> <p> </p>
Proteomic and metabolomic analysis of COVID-19 nasal swabs
<p>The epithelial barrier's primary role is to protect against entry of foreign and pathogenic elements. Global and targeted approaches were applied to nasal swabs from healthy and COVID-19-confirmed cases within 24 hours post-positive-confirmation and at 3 weeks post-infection to observe changes in proteome and metabolome.</p> <p>We found that the tryptophan/kynurenine metabolism pathway is a pinch-point regulator of canonical and non-canonical transcription activation, macrophage release of cytokines and significant changes in the immune and metabolic status with increasing severity and disease course.</p>

Psychological Well-being, Food Insecurity, Academic Performance, and Other Risk Factors in a Sample of College Students in Jordan during Covid-19
<p>This research investigated the occurrence of psychological well-being perception and its relationship with food insecurity, academic performance, and other correlates in a sample of university students in Amman, Jordan during Covid-19. A cross-sectional study was conducted in two phases. Phase-1 translated and validated an Arabic version of the Psychological General Wellbeing Index-Short version (PGWB-S) in 122 students from the University of Jordan. In Phase-2, 414 students completed demographic questionnaire, Arabic Versions of the PGWB-S, Ryff Psychological Wellbeing Scale, and Individual Food Insecurity Experience Scale.</p> <p>Ethical considerations: This manuscript has been read and approved by all authors. The authors confirm that there are no other persons, who satisfied the criteria for authorship, but are not listed. The order of authors listed in the manuscript has been approved by all of them. Crowdsourced COVID-19 Cases and Outbreaks across Canadian Schools 2020-21: COVID Schools Canada
<p>This archive contains the final data freeze for COVID Schools Canada, and the software used to compile, clean, and plot the data. </p> <p>The <strong>Canada COVID-19 School Tracker</strong> was a 100% volunteer-led project tracking COVID-19 cases and outbreaks in schools across Canada from September 2020 to June 2021. Migration to the EU: a survey of first-line practitioners during COVID-19
<p>This data base was created from responses to a survey designed and carried out by the project PERCEPTIONS, a European Union Horizon 2020 funded project (Grant Agreement No. 833870). The project examined <strong>how Europe and the EU are seen by people who have immigrated there or intend to do so.</strong> It examined what perceptions of Europe exist among migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, how they are formed, whether they correspond to reality and how they influence migration decisions. It also examined how the flow of information could be distorted and whether inaccurate information could lead to a threat to the security of migrants (e.g. through dangerous border crossings) or even national security (e.g. through radicalisation).</p> <p>The survey was carried out with <strong>first-line practitioners, defined as professionals who have contact with migrants in their work</strong>. It was distributed between October and December 2022 and received 788 responses. Participants could take the survey in 11 languages (Albanian, Arabic, Bulgarian, Dutch, English, French, German, Greek, Italian, Romanian and Spanish) and responses were received from 17 different countries (Austria, Algeria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Tunisia, and the United Kingdom). </p> <p>The survey aimed to explore <strong>perceptions of Europe </strong>that first-line practitioners observe<strong> among migrants, </strong>how practitioners believe<strong> inaccurate information may influence migration, </strong>and the <strong>impacts of COVID-19 </strong>on the field of migration-related work.</p> <p>A report summarising the results of the survey can be accessed <a href="https://project.perceptions.eu/wp-content/uploads/sites/24/2021/09/PERCEPTIONS-Report-A4-Migration-to-the-EU-A-survey-of-first-line-practitioners-perceptions-during-the-COVID-19-pandemic.pdf">here</a>. </p>
Data from: Unveiling the paths of COVID-19 in a large city based on public transportation data
<p>Human mobility plays a key role in the dissemination of infectious diseases around the world. However, the complexity introduced by commuting patterns in the daily life of cities makes such a role unclear, especially at the intracity scale. Here, we propose a multiplex network fed with 9 months of mobility data with more than 107 million public bus validations in order to understand the relation between urban mobility and the spreading of COVID-19 within a large city, namely, Fortaleza in the northeast of Brazil. Our results suggest that the shortest bus rides in Fortaleza changed ≈ 25% more than the longest ones after an epidemic wave. Such a result is the opposite of what has been observed at the intercity scale. We also find that mobility changes among the neighborhoods are synchronous and geographically homogeneous. Furthermore, we find that the most central neighborhoods in mobility are the primary targets for infectious disease outbreaks, which is quantified here in terms of the linear relation between the disease arrival time and the average of the closeness centrality ranking. These central neighborhoods are also the top neighborhoods in the number of reported cases at the end of an epidemic wave as indicated by the exponential decay behavior of the disease arrival time in relation to the number of accumulated reported cases with decay constant λ ≈ 33 days. We believe that these results can help in the development of new strategies to impose restriction measures in the cities guiding decision-makers with smart actions in public health policies, as well as supporting future research on urban mobility and epidemiology.</p>
The effect of Vitamin D levels on the course of COVID-19 in hospitalized patients – a 1-year prospective cohort study
<p>Background: The aim of the current study was to assess the patients with COVID-19 and the impact of vitamin D supplementation on the course of COVID-19.<br> Methods: This prospective cohort study included patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 between December 2020 and December 2021. Patients' demographic, clinical, and laboratory parameters were analysed. <br> Results: 301 participants were enrolled in the study. 46 (15,3%) had moderate, and 162 (53,8%) had severe COVID-19. 14 (4,7%) patients died, and 30 (10,0%) were admitted to the ICU due to disease worsening. The majority needed oxygen therapy (n=224; 74,4%). Average vitamin 25(OH)D3 levels were below optimal at the admittance, and vitamin D deficiency was detected in 205 individuals. More male patients were suffering from vitamin D deficiency. Patients with the more severe disease showed lower levels of vitamin 25(OH)D3 in their blood. The most severe group of patients had more symptoms that lasted significantly longer with progressing disease severity. This group of patients also suffered from more deaths, ICU admissions, and treatments with dexamethasone, remdesivir, and oxygen.<br> Conclusion: Patients with the severe course of COVID-19 were shown to have increased inflammatory parameters, increased mortality, and higher incidence of vitamin D deficiency. The results suggest that the vitamin D deficiency might represent a significant risk factor for a severe course of COVID-19.</p> <p> </p>

Indeed, the ESSENCE project aims at transforming the lessons learnt from the COVID-19<strong> </strong>in a huge opportunity that exploits technology toward a deep evolution of the services targeting vulnerable populations: non- or pre-frail seniors (targets of this study), and children of the first years of primary school. To contribute to the public health response in the context of the ongoing epidemic, and preparedness for future emergencies, ESSENCE aims at boosting the creation of a new model of home-based care that relies on stimulation, remote monitoring, tele-assistance, and connection between users, families, and professionals. Platforms & registries for sharing participant-level COVID-19 data
<p>This dataset presents an overview of platforms and registries that store, harmonize, and, in some cases, share COVID-19-related participant-level data, including clinical-epidemiological, human and pathogen OMICs, and high dimensional imaging data. The dataset provides an in-depth review of adherence to the <a href="https://www.go-fair.org/fair-principles/">FAIR principles</a>, governance, benefit sharing and other ethical concerns related to resources that share harmonized, participant-level data for the research response to COVID-19. Systematic searches were conducted between April 2020 and June 2021 to identify relevant platforms and registries. We applied natural language processing to the CORD-19 dataset in March of 2021 and consulted with COVID-19 focused researchers in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to identify non-English language COVID-19-related data sharing resources.</p>
