Global Roads Open Access Data Set, Version 1 (gROADSv1)
The Global Roads Open Access Data Set, Version 1 (gROADSv1) was developed under the auspices of the CODATA Global Roads Data Development Task Group. The data set combines the best available roads data by country into a global roads coverage, using the UN Spatial Data Infrastructure Transport (UNSDI-T) version 2 as a common data model. All country road networks have been joined topologically at the borders, and many countries have been edited for internal topology. Source data for each country are provided in the documentation, and users are encouraged to refer to the readme file for use constraints that apply to a small number of countries. Because the data are compiled from multiple sources, the date range for road network representations ranges from the 1980s to 2010 depending on the country (most countries have no confirmed date), and spatial accuracy varies. The baseline global data set was compiled by the Information Technology Outreach Services (ITOS) of the University of Georgia. Updated data for 27 countries and 6 smaller geographic entities were assembled by Columbia University's Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN), with a focus largely on developing countries with the poorest data coverage.
HDF4 Data Used to Assess Long-Term Access to Remote Sensing Data with Layout Maps, Version 1
Notice to Data Users: The documentation for this data set was provided solely by the Principal Investigator(s) and was not further developed, thoroughly reviewed, or edited by NSIDC. Thus, support for this data set may be limited.This data set consists of a sampling of each type of Hierarchical Data Format version 4 (HDF4) data that are archived at the eight National Aeronautic and Space Administration (NASA) Earth Science Data Centers (ESDCs). The data were sampled for a collaborative study between The HDF Group, the Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES-DISC), and the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in order to assess the complex internal byte layout of HDF files. Based on the results of this assessment, methods for producing a map of the layout of the HDF4 files held by NASA were prototyped using a markup-language-based HDF tool. The resulting maps allow a separate program to read the file without recourse to the HDF application programming interface (API). Data products selected for the study, and a table summarizing the results, are available via HTTPS.
Spatial Data Access Tool (SDAT)
The ORNL DAAC Spatial Data Access Tool (SDAT) is a suite of Web-based applications that enable users to visualize and download spatial data in user-selected spatial/temporal extents, file formats, and projections. SDAT incorporates Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standard Web services, including Web Coverage Service (WCS), Web Map Service (WMS), and Web Feature Service (WFS). The SDAT provides ORNL DAAC-archived data sets and additional relevant data products including agriculture, atmosphere, biosphere, climate indicators, human dimensions, land surface, oceans, terrestrial hydrosphere data types, and related model output data sets.

<p>The folder "data" includes 1) the dataset "vets_observed.rda", which reports the locations of veterinary practices, 2) the dataset "vets_national.csv", which reports the national estimates of veterinarians, 3) the dataset "vet_schools.csv", which reports the list of veterinary schools per country, along with the range of veterinary graduates per year, 4) the dataset "faostat_livestock_2019.csv", which reports the number and species of animals raised for food per country, 5) the dataset "sources.xlsx", which reports all the sources inspected to collect addresses of veterinary practices, and 6) the raster "obs_all_r.tif" which is the rasterized version of the "vets_observed.rda" dataset at the resolution of 10x10 km.</p> <p>The folder "scripts" includes the R and python code used for assembling the dataset of the locations of veterinarians and for performing all the analyses.</p>
