Data from: Influence of parameter settings in automated scoring of AFLPs on population genetic analysis

The use of procedures for the automated scoring of AFLP fragments has recently increased. Corresponding software does not only automatically score the presence or absence of AFLP fragments, but also allows an evaluation of how different settings of scoring parameters influence subsequent population genetic analyses. In this study, we used the automated scoring package RAWGENO to evaluate how five scoring parameters influence the number of polymorphic bins and estimates of pairwise genetic differentiation between populations (Fst). Steps were implemented in R to automatically run the scoring process in RAWGENO for a set of different parameter combinations. While we found the scoring parameters minimum bin width and minimum number of samples per bin to have only weak influence on pairwise Fst values, maximum bin width and bin reproducibility had much stronger effects. The minimum average bin fluorescence scoring parameter affected Fst values in an only moderate way. At a range of scoring parameters around the default settings of RAWGENO, the number of polymorphic bins as well as pairwise Fst values stayed rather constant. This study thus shows the particularities of AFLP scoring, be it either manual or automatical, can have profound effects on subsequent population genetic analysis.

A database of skill scores on solar forecasting

<p><span>From an initial pool of 1,858 papers in Google Scholar (GS) and 418 papers in Web of Science (WoS), we screened the full texts of 500 papers between 2006 and 2025 and extracted data from 250 studies on both solar irradiance and PV output forecasting. The resulting database contains 5,277 observations across 11 variables, encompassing inputs, methodological, climatic, and contextual factors that differentiate forecast performance.</span></p> <p><span>The "r_subset_clean.csv" provides the database. The "LR_exported.Rmd" and the "mars_plots_all.Rmd" files provide the code to conduct the MARS and linear regressions on the data.</span></p>

<p>This is a dataset for research : "MTA and Koedam Score Contributes to Cognitive Impairment in Probable Alzheimer, Vascular and Mixed Dementia: A Memory Clinic Study in Indonesia"</p> <h1><strong><span>Abstract</span></strong></h1> <p><strong><span>Background</span></strong><span>. Medial Temporal Atrophy (MTA) and Parietal Atrophy (Koedam score) have been used in clinical practice to help the diagnosis of Alzheimer&rsquo;s disease. However, the role of this brain imaging marker in early detection of other type of dementia remains elusive. The study aims to investigate the association between MTA and Koedam scores with the cognitive function in dementia patients (Alzheimer, vascular and mixed dementia).</span></p> <p><strong><span>Method</span></strong><span> <span>This was a</span> cross-sectional study using<span> data from a</span> Memory Clinic in Dr. Sardjito General Hospital Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The data was collected from January 2020 until December 2022. We collected the data regarding demographic and clinical characteristics, including head MRI data and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) score. The cut-off points of MTA score and Koedam score were determined by using Receiver Operating Curve (ROC) and Youden Index. Multivariate analysis was performed to investigate variables which were associated with the cognitive function.&nbsp; </span></p> <p><strong><span>Result </span></strong><span>From 61 dementia patients, 22.95% was probable Alzheimer&rsquo;s disease, 59.01% was vascular dementia, and 18.03% was mixed dementia. Correlation test showed that MTA and Koedam score were negatively associated with Montreal Cognitive Assessment-Indonesian Version (MoCA-INA) score. A bivariate analysis supports the findings that patients with combination of MTA score &ge;3 and Koedam score &ge;2 was more likely to have poor cognitive function (OR= 11.33; p&lt;0.05). Multivariate analysis showed higher MTA (&ge;3) and Koedam (&ge;2) scores were associated with poor cognitive function in dementia patients (OR= 13.54, 95% CI= 1.77-103.43, <em>p</em>=0.01 and OR= 5.52, 95% CI= 1.08-28.19, <em>p</em>=0.04)</span></p> <p><strong><span>Conclusion </span></strong><span>Higher MTA and Koedam score contribute to worse cognitive function in any type of dementia patients. </span></p> <p><strong><span>Keywords.</span></strong><span> Imaging Marker, Medial Temporal Atrophy (MTA), Koedam Score, Cognitive Function, Dementia</span></p>

Data from: Clinical scores before and after multi-nodal DBS

<p><em>Background</em></p> <p>Mixed and complex movement disorders represent significant challenges for surgical treatment. These disease states are likely the result of combined or complex network pathologies affecting multiple pathways<sup>1-4</sup>. Until recently, attempts to treat complex movement disorders with deep brain stimulation (DBS) have primarily focused on stimulating a single deep target to address patients' most severe symptoms<sup>5-14</sup>. However, a multi-nodal targeting approach for DBS by simultaneously stimulating more than one pair of homologous nuclei could be a more effective treatment strategy. Here, we present the technique and initial case series of utilizing multi-nodal stimulation for mixed and complex movement disorders.</p> <p><em>Methods</em></p> <p>An initial cohort of fifteen mixed and complex movement disorder patients presenting to Stanford University underwent a multi-nodal stimulation approach. In these patients, the multiple (i.e. &gt; 2) simultaneous deep targets were implanted through only 2 burr holes and connected to a single 32-channel pulse generator.</p> <p><em>Results</em></p> <p>There were no intra- or post-operative complications. With the addition of multi-nodal stimulation, complex PD patients demonstrated a significant reduction in Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (p = 0.0039) and complex tremor patients demonstrated a significant reduction in Clinical Rating Scale for Tremor (p = 0.0312).</p> <p><em>Conclusion</em></p> <p>We present the largest initial case series demonstrating the safety, feasibility, and added efficacy of single system multi-nodal DBS for treating mixed and complex movement disorders. This approach is safe, provides additional benefit, and warrants further investigation for treating mixed and complex movement disorders.</p>
