Knowledge and attitude of infection prevention and control practices among health care workers caring for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19
<p><b>Background: </b>COVID-19 pandemic is growing rapidly, accounting for an increasing proportion of cases worldwide. Infection in healthcare facilities enhances very likely the local outbreaks, impacting mainly the elderly and vulnerable populations. All activities used to minimize the risk of infection spread are referred to as infection control measures.<b> </b>Therefore, this study aimed to; determine the proportion of SARS-COV2 infection among heath care workers (HCWs) caring for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19, assess their knowledge and attitude to infection control practices and recommend strategies to decrease the risk of SARS-COV2 infection among them.<b> </b></p> <p><b>Methods: </b>This is an electronic-based cross-sectional analytical study conducted in Egypt to assess the knowledge, attitude of HCWs to infection control practices for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 infection. A purposive sample of 520 participants was targeted through electronic data collection, and they were asked to fill a structured questionnaire form and submit it.</p> <p><b>Results: </b>The study revealed that 11% of the HCWs were infected with SARS-Cov2.<b> </b>Their mean knowledge percent score regarding infection control prevention practices was 36.19 ± 11.26. The higher rate of infection was among Internal Medicine specialists (75%) with little experience (76.7%), affiliated with the Ministry of Health (46.7%). About (89%) mentioned that the leading cause of infection was the shortage in Personal Protective Equipment PPE.</p> <p><b>Conclusion: </b>There was a high proportion of SARS-COV2 infection among HCWs in EGYPT, especially among those working in Cairo governorate in Internal Medicine Departments, with fewer years of experience, due to lack of knowledge about infection prevention and control measures and shortage of Personal Protective Equipment in their working facilities.</p>
Attitudes of medical students towards the ethical and legal aspects of abortion: A cross-sectional study from Saudi Arabia
<p><span>Abortion is defined as the termination of pregnancy which is a crucial issue to be addressed by multiple regulating systems such as health care providers and policy makers.</span><span> The main aim of the study was to assess the attitudes of medical students in Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University towards abortion in different circumstances. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study in which a 20-item online questionnaire was distributed through social media platforms to medical students. The results of the study showed that the majority of the students believe abortion should be determined by law, religion and spousal consent. The majority as well support abortion in cases of endangered mother's life, fetal life compromise and rape victims. However, they were against abortion in cases of financial incapacity of the parents and cases of unplanned pregnancy. The results of the study can be applied to improve medical education of abortion. More studies in this field of research are recommended for the purpose of providing more inclusive assessment of abortion attitudes in different medical education settings. </span></p>

Data for: Knowledge, attitudes, and practices of food handlers in food assistance programs: A district study
<p>Objective: This study aimed to assess food handlers' knowledge, attitudes, and self-reported practices towards the safer donated foods.</p> <p>Design: This cross-sectional study was conducted within a 5-month consecutive time period in 2021.</p> <p>Setting: This study was conducted in the eThekwini District, South Africa.</p> <p>Participants: A convenience sampling-based cross-sectional survey of food handlers (n=252) served as the study's main source of data. A total of eight study sites across five municipal planning regions (MPRs) of eThekwini District were visited. The principal investigator administered the validated structured standardised questionnaire, using participant's language of choice, which was either English or isiZulu. All the questions in the questionnaire were asked in exactly the same manner, following the same flow, in order to avoid bias and ensure consistency. Furthermore, the close-ended nature of questions in the questionnaire mitigated the risks of question manipulation. The questionnaire was adapted from the World Health Organization's (WHO) five keys to a safer food manual.</p> <p>Primary and secondary outcome measures: The primary outcome was the knowledge, attitudes, and self-reported practices towards the safer donated foods. The secondary outcomes were the sanitary conditions of infrastructure and facilities, food handlers' observed food handling behaviour, and nutritional information/labeling.</p> <p>Results: The results show that the food handlers had good knowledge, positive attitude, and acceptable behaviours towards safe food handling and general hygiene, with mean scores (SD) of 62.8 (14.6), 92.5 (14.1), and 80.4 (13.3), respectively. Significant correlations were found between knowledge and attitudes (p=0.001), knowledge and practices (p<0.001), and attitudes and practices (p=0.02). However, the correlations between knowledge versus attitude and attitude versus practice were poor (spearman's rho<0.3), and the association between knowledge versus practice was moderate (0.3–0.7). The majority of food handlers (92.5%) did not understand the value of thorough cooking and temperature control. About 53% of respondents acknowledged to never adequately reheating cooked meals, 5% did not see the significance of preventing cross-contamination, and 5% were unsure.</p> <p>Conclusions: Despite the relatively positive KAP levels of the food handlers, safe food handling and hygiene practices, such as thorough cooking and temperature control, properly reheating cooked meals, and taking precautions to prevent cross-contamination, require some emphasis.</p>

<p>The dataset contains information about the attitudes of 1000 Italian citizens toward the use of customer-oriented internet of things technologies in hotel settings. The data were collected through a computer-assisted web questionnaire in October 2021 and include:<br> -the respondents' demographic data<br> -the respondents' vacation habits<br> - the respondents' attitudes toward the use of technology in vacation and everyday life<br> -the respondents' preferences for technological/traditional services<br> -and the respondents' willingness to pay for highly technological hotels.<br> The original survey was in Italian. Therefore the dataset contains three excel sheets, the first including the raw data (data), the second including the original version of the questionnaire (ITAquestionnaire), and the third including the English version (ENGquestionnaire).</p>
