Reflectance transformation imaging files of a selection of fossil arthropods (Carboniferous from Kaiping, China)

Numerous arthropods (e.g. branchiopods, insects) collected during the first half of the 20th century by F.-F. Mathieu within the Pennsylvanian–Cisuralian (Moscovian–Asselian) succession of the Zhaogezhuang colliery (Hebei Province, China), which was romanised notably as Chao Ko Chwang and Chaokochuang in the literature, have been recently traced in the palaeontological collections of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (Brussels). This historical material from one of the classic localities of the Kaiping Coalfield includes a large amount of Blattodea wings, mainly from the Tangshan Formation and to a lesser extent from the Kaiping and Zhaogezhuang formations. The exceptional richness in insects of a particular horizon developed within the Moscovian part of the Tangshan Formation was already pointed out at the end of the 1920s by the French palaeoentomologist P. Pruvost, who provided the first account on the arthropods of Mathieu's collection from the Kaiping Coalfield. This singular Blattodea material was later studied by D. Laurentiaux in his unpublished Ph.D. In order to promote the revision of Mathieu's collection by specialists, we provide here a detailed scientific background and re-illustrate the arachnids (and formerly alleged ones: (Poliochera vel Curculioides) [sic] pustulatus Laurentiaux-Vieira & Laurentiaux)), branchiopods (Lioestheria? mathieui (Pruvost)), and insects from the Zhaogezhuang colliery, notably using the Reflectance Transformation Imaging methodology.

EnergyPROSPECTS Energy Citizenship Factsheet Series, Part 6: Aspects of ENCI II.: Frontrunners and late adopters, pragmatic and transformative ENCI

This document is Part 6 of the EnergyPROSPECTS Factsheet Series. We have created the Series to publish the results of a mapping of energy citizenship in Europe, along with the first stage of our analysis of the respective data. The EnergyPROSPECTS consortium mapped 596 cases of energy citizenship (ENCI) between November 2020 and May 2021 using desk research, collecting data on many aspects of the cases. Although the analysis is a work in progress, we believe it is important to share our data and, through doing this, contribute to the understanding of energy citizenship in Europe.

EnergyPROSPECTS (PROactive Strategies and Policies for Energy Citizenship Transformation), a H2020 project between 2021-2024, works with a critical understanding of energy citizenship that is grounded in state-of-the-art social sciences and humanities (SSH) insights.

Unveiling Transformation: Glacier Area Changes in Changra-Bhaga and Suru-Zanskar Basins (2000-2022), Western Himalaya

The dataset encompasses the temporal variations in glacier extents within the Suru-Zanskar Basin and the Chandra-Bhaga Basin, both integral parts of the Western Himalayan region. Within this dataset, a total of 45 representative glaciers were manually digitized for the years 2000, 2007, 2016, and 2022, using satellite imagery for the Suru-Zanskar Basin. Similarly, temporal glacier areas were calculated for 51 selected glaciers spanning the years 2000, 2009, 2016, and 2022 within the Chandra-Bhaga Basin. For the year 2000, the dataset comprises a recorded area of 913.77 km² for the Suru-Zanskar Basin and 608.95 km² for the Chandra-Bhaga Basin, respectively. This dataset forms an integral component of the manuscript titled "Divergent Temporal Glacier Responses in the Chandra-Bhaga and Suru-Zanskar Basins of the Indian Western Himalaya."

Data Set for Enhanced Performance Prediction of ATL Model Transformations

Model transformation languages are domain-specific languages, which are designed to comfortably define transformations. With the increasing use of transformations in various domains, the complexity and size of input models are also increasing. However, developers often lack suitable models for performance testing. We have therefore conducted experiments in which we predict the performance of model transformations based on characteristics of input models using machine learning approaches. In particular, we focused on how to predict the performance of transformations that also transform attributes whose values can have arbitrary size. This dataset contains our raw and processed input data, the scripts necessary to repeat our experiments, and the results we obtained.

Our input data consists of the time measurements for six different transformations defined in the Atlas Transformation Language (ATL), as well as the collected characteristics of the real-world input models we used. In this data set, we provide the script that implements our experiments. We predict the execution time of ATL transformations using the machine learning approaches linear regression, random forests and support vector regression using a radial basis function kernel. We also investigate different sets of characteristics of input models as input for the machine learning approaches. These are described in detail in the provided documentation.pdf. The results of the experiments are provided as raw data in individual cvs files. Furthermore, we provide our Eclipse plugin, which collects the characteristics for a set of given models.

A detailed documentation is available in documentaion.pdf.

Derivation of the Local Lorentz Gauge Transformation of a Dirac Spinor Field in Quantum Einstein-Cartan Theory

I examine the groups which underly classical mechanics, non-relativistic quantum mechanics, special relativity, relativistic quantum mechanics, quantum electrodynamics, quantum flavourdynamics, quantum chromodynamics, and general relativity. This examination includes the rotations SO(2) and SO(3), the Pauli algebra, the Lorentz transformations, the Dirac algebra, and the U(1), SU(2), and SU(3) gauge transformations. I argue that general relativity must be generalized to Einstein-Cartan theory, so that Dirac spinors can be described within the framework of gravitation theory.
