Tweeting after terrorism: A content analysis of Twitter crisis communication following the 2016 Brussels Bombings, Dataset

<p>This study attempted to further the literature by showing how crisis communication and social media share a common foundation in strategic communication management. A content analysis, along with insights from a social network analysis, was used to better understand not only how information diffused across a governmentally-centered Twitter network following the 2016 Brussels bombings, but how specific types of strategic digital content performed. A sample of 1,187 tweets suggested that emotionally-neutral tweets from government agencies functionally diffused better across the social network, while more sentimental tweets from politicians performed better in a reputation management context. Such findings contribute to the literature on communication, political science, and management scholarship by conceptually and empirically showing how interdisciplinary research can serve as a strategic bridge between a multitude of actors interested in crisis communication research and practice.</p>

Jamendo content analysed with the Audio Commons Analysis Service

<p>This dataset contains partial output of running the final release of the <a href="https://github.com/AudioCommons/faas-ac-analysis">Audio Commons Analysis Service</a> on 99960 music pieces of the <a href="https://licensing.jamendo.com">Jamendo Licensing</a> catalogue. The service is described in <a href="https://www.audiocommons.org/assets/files/AC-WP4-QMUL-D4.13%20Release%20of%20tool%20for%20the%20automatic%20semantic%20description%20of%20music%20pieces.pdf">Deliverable D4.13</a> of the Audio Commons project. The analysis results are comprised of chord output including confidence for all pieces (using the software described in the deliverable) and of the output of the Essentia music extractor (v2.1_beta4-447-gc5ea2738) for 77190 of the pieces (of which tempo, beats, tuning and global-key are exposed through the API of the analysis service).</p> <p>The dataset is formatted as a single JSON file containing an array of documents. Each document in the array has two or three top-level keys. The first key is &quot;_id&quot; with values of the form &quot;jamendo-tracks:&lt;jamendo-id&gt;&quot;. This id can be used to request metadata and audio through the <a href="https://developer.jamendo.com">Jamendo API</a>. The second key of the document is &quot;chords&quot;, containing a subdocument with the output of the chord extraction algorithm. The third key is &quot;essentia-music&quot;, which contains a subdocument with the output of the Essentia music extractor.</p> <div>&nbsp;</div>

Vision and mission statements in pharmaceutical industry: Evidence from content analysis perspectives

<p><strong>Background:</strong> Recently, the growth of pharmaceutical sector in Nigeria are challenged by competitive and dynamic environment. There is a strategic planning process that the organisation needs to use to achieve the pre-determined objectives. This study aimed to determine the vision and mission statements of the pharmaceutical industries which affects their growth and performance outcomes.</p> <p><strong>Methods:</strong> To accomplish this study, a sample of 20 Top Pharmaceutical Companies in Nigeria was analyzed using excel spreadsheet to draw out the vision and mission components. And the list was obtained from Pharmaapproach, Pharmaceutical and Medical Manufacturing Companies in Nigeria as well as InfoGuide Nigeria.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> The findings examined that the 20 pharmaceutical firms do have recurring vision and mission statements that are published in their various corporate websites. The industries&rsquo; vision statements shows the survival; growth and profitability concern; technology; products and services; markets; philosophy; concern of employees; customers; self-concept and; concern for public image while the mission statement fulfill the components of statement of purpose; customer; products and services; location/market; core technology; concern for growth and profit; philosophy value; self-concept; concern for public image; concern for shareholders and concern for employees.</p> <p><strong>Conclusions:</strong> The study recommends that components of vision and mission statements of pharmaceutical industries have to be consistent, strategically-crafted, well-organized and established. Vision statements have a strategic future plan for an industry and how target goals of the firm will be met. Mission statements, however, is an effectiveness of work done in the industry They determine the daily task that is being carried out, and what direction the firm is heading towards to achieve the specific vision of the industry. Data from: Spider webs, stable isotopes and molecular gut content analysis: multiple lines of evidence support trophic niche differentiation in a community of Hawaiian spiders

1. Adaptive radiations are typically characterized by niche partitioning among their constituent species. Trophic niche partitioning is particularly important in predatory animals, which rely on limited food resources for survival. 2. We test for trophic niche partitioning in an adaptive radiation of Hawaiian Tetragnatha spiders, which have diversified in situ on the Hawaiian Islands. We focus on a community of nine species belonging to two different clades, one web building and the other actively hunting, which co-occur in wet forest on East Maui. We hypothesize that trophic niches differ significantly both 1) among species within a clade, indicating food resource partitioning, and 2) between the two clades, corresponding with their differences in foraging strategy. 3. To assess niches of the spider species, we measure a) web architecture, the structure of the hunting tool, and b) site choice, the physical placement of the web in the habitat. We then test whether differences in these parameters translate into meaningful differences in trophic niche by measuring c) stable isotope signatures of carbon and nitrogen in the spiders' tissues, and d) gut content of spiders based on metabarcoding data. 4. We find significant interspecific differences in web architecture and site choice. Importantly, these differences are reflected in stable isotope signatures among the five web-building species, as well as significant isotopic differences between web-builders and active hunters. Gut content data also show interspecific and inter-clade differences. Pairwise overlaps of web architecture between species are positively correlated with overlaps of isotopic signature. 5. Our results reveal trophic niche partitioning among species within each clade, as well as between the web-building and actively hunting clades. Based on the correlation between web architecture and stable isotopes, it appears that the isotopic signatures of spiders' tissues are influenced by architectural differences among their webs. Our findings indicate an important link between web structure, microhabitat preference and diet in the Hawaiian Tetragnatha.

Arthropod food webs in the foreland of a retreating glacier: Gut content analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM)

<p>Below- and above-ground arthropod communities were explored at a glacier foreland area in low Arctic Southwest Greenland aiming for a better understanding of the mechanisms behind the arthropod succession driven by increasing temperatures in the context of an Arctic climate change scenario. Arthropods were sampled in 2015 and 2016 along a downslope transect where the microclimate became warmer downhill a chronosequence towards a climax vegetation. The arthropod data sets were analyzed in relation to an environmental data set. Bottom-up controlled population developments were important in the early phase of the vegetation development while top-down prevailed in the later phase of the vegetation development. The shift from bottom-up to top-down cascades between arthropod predators and their potential prey populations was mainly driven by increasing temperatures away from the glacier. Structural equation modeling (SEM) shows bottom-up and top-down controlled food chains as bottom-up control was important for spider and harvestman populations while top-down control was important for ground beetle populations. These mechanisms are closely related to the hunting strategies of the predators as bottom-up mechanisms are connected to a sit-and-wait behavior while top-down mechanisms are related to active-search behavior. The SEM analyzes were supported by DNA metabarcoding as well as by the literature. A consequence of the strong top-down cascades in the later phase of the succession is high rates of intra-guild predation (IGP) among all arthropod predators. Particularly in the guts of the linyphiid spider, <em>Collinsia holmgreni </em>Thorell 1871, trophic linkages to other linyphiid and lycosid spiders were detected. The IGP ratio of <em>C. holmgreni</em> was negatively correlated with the activity density of available ground-living prey. Probably as a consequence of the high IGP among the linyphiid spiders, cold-adapted linyphiid species like <em>C. holmgreni</em> decreased in numbers downhill and became extinct in the warmer climax vegetation, where lycosid spiders dominated. SEM shows that the declining activity densities of the soil fauna, such as collembolans and mites, due to predation, are responsible for the increase in organic matter content in the topsoil.</p>
