E3SM simulations to assess the projected changes in tropical cyclone activity during active and inactive North Atlantic hurricane seasons
<p>This dataset compiles the results of high resolutions E3SM experiments performed to assess the projected changes in the North Atlantic tropical cyclone activity in a warming climate. <p>This tarball contains a collection of code and data used to performa a detailed analysis of the CRM variance transport feature added to E3SM-MMF. The data subset is condensed from the model output and observational datasets, so the ability to reproduce results directly is limited, but this archive mainly serves to document the methods used for our analysis. </p>

<p>This archive contains post-processed data for analyses in Qian et al. (2023) "<strong>Region and cloud regime dependences of parametric sensitivity in E3SM Atmosphere Model</strong>". These data are model output from the Perturbed Parameters Ensemble (PPE) simulations conducted with DOE's E3SM Atmosphere Model Version 1 (EAMv1). There are 256x12 PPE simulations with each simulation run for 5 days following the approach of Cloud Associated Parameterization Testbed (CAPT) and transpose Atmosphere Model Intercomparison Project (AMIP) paradigm. The diagnostic variables associated with the parameterizations of turbulence and shallow convection, deep convection, cloud microphysics, and gravity wave drag at day 5 are saved and used for analyses in this paper. </p>

Ocean Dynamics in the DOE Energy, Exascale, Earth System Model (E3SM)
<p>Climate research at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) includes the development of ocean, sea-ice, atmosphere, land-vegetation and land-ice models. The ability to run high-resolution global simulations efficiently on the world’s largest computers is a priority for the DOE. This movie shows simulations from the variable-resolution ocean model, the Model for Prediction Across Scales (MPAS-Ocean), which is developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory. MPAS-Ocean is a component of the DOE’s newly released Energy, Exascale, Earth System Model (E3SM). Applications of E3SM include the simulation of 20th-century and future climate scenarios, as well as special configurations where model resolution is enhanced in regions of particular interest, like coastal areas, the Arctic, or below Antarctic ice shelves.</p> <p>Website: <a href="https://e3sm.org">https://e3sm.org</a>. </p>
