<p>This repository contains the raw experimental and PHITS-simulated data used in the JINST article &ldquo;The Backscatter Gating method for time, energy, and position resolution characterization of long form factor organic scintillators&rdquo; by Hunter N. Ratliff et al., available at <a href="https://doi.org/10.1088/1748-0221/19/07/P07002">https://doi.org/10.1088/1748-0221/19/07/P07002</a> (the accepted manuscript can also be found at <a href="https://hdl.handle.net/11250/3145287">https://hdl.handle.net/11250/3145287</a> and <a href="https://hratliff.com/publications/">https://hratliff.com/publications/</a>).</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The data consists of three top-level directories, each with various subdirectories. &nbsp;Within the &ldquo;PHITS-simulated-data&rdquo; directory are the PHITS simulations (including input and output files) used in producing Figures 4 and 5 in the manuscript, showing energy spectra in the bar for BSG events from a Cs-137 emission for placement of the source on the bar and on the BSG detector and with spacings between the bar and BSG detector of 20, 80, and 150 mm, along with the energy-dependent spatial distribution of these recoil electrons in the bar.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The other two top-level directories contain raw data produced by the CAEN CoMPASS software when acquiring data experimentally.&nbsp; In the analysis for each measurement, the contents of the &ldquo;RAW&rdquo; folders were used.&nbsp; The &ldquo;Energy-calibrations-of-CeBr3&rdquo; directory contains the energy spectra of the CeBr3 detector (used as the BSG detector) when exposed to a variety of radioactive sources, used together to energy-calibrate the CeBr3 detector.&nbsp; The &ldquo;Backscatter-gating-measurements&rdquo; directory contains all of the list-mode data acquired with CoMPASS used for all of the other experimental measurements presented in the manuscript.&nbsp; It contains subdirectories for varied sources, source positions along the bar, distances between the bar and BSG detector, measurements with the source affixed to the BSG detector instead, and a few miscellaneous measurements.&nbsp; The &ldquo;images&rdquo; directories within each measurement&rsquo;s directory (at the same level as the &ldquo;RAW&rdquo; folders) contain images produced by the analysis script written for this work used for diagnostics and presenting analyzed data.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>As shown in Figure 2, it was found that there was a statistically significant interaction in the<br> percentage of mental fatigue between the condition type and time-on-task factor times (F(6, 22) =<br> 492.19, p &lt; 0.001) as well as there was a significant main effect of time-on-task (time5 to time30)<br> (F(5, 22) = 463.794, p &lt; 0.001). In addition, there was also a significant main effect in the condition type (F (1, 22) = 713.133, p &lt; 0.001) which represented a large effect size. For the physical fatigue<br> subjective measure, there was a significant difference between the two experimental conditions (p &lt;<br> 0.001), and within the subject test times (p &lt; 0.001). However, there was no significant difference<br> between the means of the concentration visual analogue scale for these two experimental conditions<br> (p = 0.057) despite a significant difference (p &lt; 0.001) in the time-on-task repeated measures.</p>

Figure 5 shows a simplified example of smart lighting, where the lamp is represented by eight 5 mm light-emitting diodes (LEDs).</p>

In-house high energy remote SAD-phasing using the magic triangle: how to tackle the P1 low symmetry using multiple orientations on the same human IBA57 crystal to increase multiplicity.

<p>The dataset named IBA57-I3C.zip contains pck diffraction images of 9 runs (orientations) of a human IBA57 crystal soaked with 5-amino-2,4,6-triiodoisophthalic acid (I3C) collected on an in-house source. Multiple orientations (runs) of the very same triclinic crystal have been exploited to acquire sufficient real data multiplicity for SAD-phasing. Each folder named run* contains the pck images and the relevant XDS.INP file for processing. The file runs.txt in the top directory gives the phi, kappa, omega and theta details on each of the 9 runs.</p> <p>The dataset named IBA57-native.zip contains pck images of 1 run (360 images around phi only) of a native human IBA57 crystal collected on the same in-house source and the relevant XDS.INP file for processing; this dataset is needed for SIRAS along with the I3C dataset.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Hourly U.S. Building Electricity Use, Cost, and Emissions Baselines to Support Time-Sensitive Analyses of Energy Efficiency and Flexibility Measures

<p>These data underpin an analysis of the time-sensitive impacts of energy efficiency and flexibility measures in the U.S. building sector using Scout (<a href="https://scout.energy.gov">scout.energy.gov</a>), a reproducible and granular model of U.S. building energy use&nbsp;developed by the U.S. national labs for the U.S. Department of Energy&#39;s Building Technologies Office.</p> <p>The analysis applies sub-annual adjustments to U.S. baseline building energy use, cost, and emissions in order to characterize how these metrics vary across hour of the day, season, and geographic region in the U.S. building sector. These adjustments are based on daily energy load, price, and emissions shapes from various data sources and are used to re-apportion baseline energy, cost, and emissions totals from <a href="https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/aeo/data/browser/%20/%20%7b%20/%20# \ }/?id=2-AEO2018 \ { \ &amp; \ }cases=r ef2018 \ { \ &amp; \ }sourcekey=0">EIA&#39;s Annual Energy Outlook (AEO) Reference Case projections</a> across all hours of a year. The resulting sub-annual baselines are specified by building sector, end use, region, and season and can be used in analyses of building efficiency and flexibility measures to quantify their time-sensitive impacts at the national scale. Analyses of these data demonstrate that energy efficiency measures continue to show strong value under a time-sensitive framework while the value of flexibility depends on assumed electricity rates, measure magnitude and duration, and the amount of savings already captured by efficiency.</p> <p>The data uploaded below include CSV files that show hourly energy use, cost, and emissions totals for the U.S. building sector as well as by end-use, region, and season. An additional CSV includes residential and commercial price intensities (USD/quad) for all hours of the day based on different time-of-use (TOU) rate data from the U.S. Utility Rate Database (URDB). Further detail on each of these CSVs is given below:</p> <ul> <li>&#39;TSV_baseline_totals.csv&#39;: this file shows hourly total energy, cost, and emissions estimates for commercial and residential buildings in 2018 and 2030. It presents these estimates in Quads (source), Quads (site), and TWh (site). For the cost totals, it presents two estimates for each year and building sector, including one using the median TOU rate from the URDB and one using the average retail rate for the corresponding building sector. For converting source energy to site, total delivered electricity and electricity-related losses data for the residential and commercial sector are drawn from <a href="https://www.eia.gov/outlooks/aeo/data/browser/#/?id=2-AEO2018&amp;sourcekey=0">AEO Summary Table A2</a>.</li> <li>&#39;TSV_baseline_end-use.csv&#39;: this file shows hourly energy, cost, and emissions estimates for commercial and residential buildings in 2018 and 2030 broken out by building end-use. It presents totals in terms of both source and site energy as above and presents cost totals based on the median TOU rate for each building sector from the URDB.</li> <li>&#39;TSV_baseline_region.csv&#39;: this file shows hourly energy, cost, and emissions estimates for commercial and residential space heating and cooling end uses in 2018 and 2030 for each <a href="https://www.eia.gov/consumption/residential/maps.php">American Institute of Architects (AIA) climate zone</a>. It presents totals in terms of both source and site energy as above and presents cost totals based on the median TOU rate for each building sector from the URDB.</li> <li>&#39;TSV_baseline_region_season.csv&#39;: this file shows a similar disaggregation of the data as &lsquo;TSV_baseline_region.csv&rsquo;, but it further disaggregates results by season. The seasonal definitions are as follows: &#39;intermediate&#39; (October to November; March to April), &#39;winter&#39; (November to February), and &#39;summer&#39; (May to September).</li> <li>&#39;TSV_annual_price_intensities.csv&#39;: this file presents annual hourly price intensities for the commercial and residential building sectors in 2018 and 2030 based on different TOU rate data from the URDB. Three different rate structures are included for each building sector, and these are the 5th, 50th, and 95th percentile of all existing commercial and residential TOU rates in the URDB in terms of their peak to off-peak price ratio.</li> </ul>

Fish can use coordinated fin motions to recapture their own vortex wake energy

<p>This data repository includes all the fish swimming data and metadata used to investigate how fish can recapture their own wake to improve swimming efficiency. Custom Matlab scripts developed to compute kinematics, pressure fields, and forces are available here.</p> <p><strong>Matlab scripts:</strong>&nbsp;The custom Matlab scripts developed to compute and analyze kinematics, velocimetry, pressure, and force data are in separate folders, including the master script and secondary functions. Pressure calculations from PIV data use the queen2 Matlab package available at ( <a href="http://dabirilab.com/software">http://dabirilab.com/software</a>).</p> <p><strong>Respirometry data (supplementary data):&nbsp;</strong>We provide the oxygen consumption data used in statistical analysis of the COT of each specimen in separate sheets in a single xlsx file. In addition to raw oxygen consumption data, each sheet includes metadata relative to experimental conditions and the magnitude of the relative flow speeds in body length per second tested during steady swimming trials. We also provide the rpm to flow velocity calibration used with our flume. Scaled original pictures of the fish used for respirometry experiments are available in .jpg format and include morphological information such as standard body length (BL) and fork length.</p> <p><strong>PIV data:</strong> High-resolution videos and velocity fields computed using DaVis are sorted by fish specimen and swimming speed. Additional metadata relative to the fish and experimental parameters (i.e., salinity, temperature) are included. Scaled original pictures of the fish used to conduct top-down PIV experiments are available in .jpg format and include morphological information such as standard body length (BL) and fork length.</p>
