A High-Quality Reprocessed MODIS Fraction of absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation Dataset (HiQ-FPAR)(Version 1)

The High-Quality Fraction of absorbed Photosynthetically Active Radiation (HiQ-FPAR) is derived from reprocessed MODIS FPAR C6.1 product by SpatioTemporal Information Compositing Algorithm (STICA). This method integrates information from multiple dimensions, including pixel quality information, spatiotemporal correlation, and original observations, to improve the raw MODIS FPAR retrievals with poor quality. The HiQ-FPAR covers the period from 2000 to 2022, with spatial resolutions of 500m/5km for global vegetation area and temporal resolutions of 8 days.

Ground-based verification results show that HiQ-FPAR performs better than the original MODIS product (MOD15A2H C6.1). Time series curves of the HiQ-FPAR exhibit reduced abnormal fluctuations and better alignment with expected phenological patterns. Additionally, the agreement with ground measurements increases gradually as raw data quality decreases. HiQ-FPAR was found to be more continuous and consistent than MODIS FPAR on a global scale from both spatial and temporal perspectives, especially in the equatorial regions where optical remote sensing usually cannot achieve good performance. Thus, We anticipate that HiQ-FAPR with better spatio-temporal continuity will better support varying global FPAR time series applications.

Here, we offer a product version with a spatial resolution of 5km and a temporal resolution of 8 days. Another version has a spatial resolution of 500 meters and is available through Google Earth Engine (https://code.earthengine.google.com/?asset=projects/verselab-398313/assets/HiQ_FPAR/wgs_500m_8d).

More details about HiQ-Fpar can be found at https://github.com/Gardenias-123/HiQ-FPAR

A 1-km resolution monthly mean air temperature (Ta) dataset across the Tibetan Plateau during 2001-2015, related with the article "Mapping monthly air temperature in the Tibetan Plateau from MODIS data based on machine learning methods".

We present a 1-km resolution monthly mean air temperature (Ta) dataset across the Tibetan Plateau from 2001 to 2015. It ranges from 25°-45°N, 70°-105°E, covering a total area of ~7,045,000 km2. To develop this dataset, 10 machine learning algorithms were applied to 11 environmental variables derived from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) digital elevation model (DEM) data and topographic index data. The best model generated by Cubist algorithm was finally selected to calculate monthly mean Ta, and achieved an overall accuracy of RMSE= 1.00 °C and MAE= 0.73 °C. To get details of this dataset, please refer to the manuscript "Mapping monthly air temperature in the Tibetan Plateau from MODIS data based on machine learning methods". This Ta dataset provides spatially continuous coverage compared with station observed data, and has much higher accuracy and spatial resolution than reanalysis datasets, making it a useful dataset for climate change and environmental studies in the Tibetan Plateau.

Xu Y., Knudby A., Shen Y., Liu Y., Mapping monthly air temperature in the Tibetan Plateau from MODIS data based on machine learning methods. Data from: Frequency and characteristics of MODY 1 (HNF4A mutation) and MODY 5 (HNF1B mutation) - Analysis from the DPV database
Objective. To characterize initial presentation and clinical course of patients with hepatocyte nuclear factor (HNF) 4A- and HNF1B-MODY in a multinational registry. Design, setting and participants. Within the Diabetes Patienten Verlaufsdokumentation (DPV) registry, 44 patients with HNF4A- and 35 patients with HNF1B-MODY were characterized and compared with patients < 20years old with type 1 diabetes (T1D)/type 2 diabetes (T2D). Main outcome measure. Clinical and laboratory parameters, therapy, metabolic control, and extrapancreatic symptoms in patients with HNF1B-MODY. Results. Patients with both MODY types were significantly older than T1D patients at diagnosis (HNF4A, 13.8 years and HNF1B, 13.5 years, vs. T1D, 8.8 years, P<0.0001). Mean C-peptide at diagnosis was higher for HNF4A-MODY than for T1D (1.8 vs. 0.9 ng/ml, P <0.01). 36.4% of patients with HNF4A-MODY and 65.7% of patients with HNF1B-MODY were treated with insulin, 20.5% and 8.6% received oral antidiabetics only (p<0.05 and p<0.01 vs. T2D). At the most recent visit, glycated hemoglobin levels were lower in HNF4A- and HNF1B-MODY compared to T1D (mean, 6.5% and 6.1%) than in T1D. In 40% of patients with HNF1B-MODY, extrapancreatic symptoms were reported. Several clinical predictors previously described to differentiate between MODY and T1D or T2D could be revalidated by logistic regression analyses in this cohort. Conclusion The DPV registry enabled us to precisely characterize phenotype and treatment in these two rare MODY types. Although phenotype of HNF4A-and HNF1B-MODY shows distinct differences to T1D and T2D, 38% of patients were initially misclassified as having T1D or T2D.

Climatological Monthly Frequency of Dust Storm over Land for Varying Intensities, Based on MODIS Terra Deep Blue Level 2 Aerosol Products MOD04_L2 Collection 6.1, on a Global 0.1 by 0.1 Degree Grid, Level 3 Version 1 (MODFDS_CLM_GLB_L3) at GES DISC
Version 1 is the current version of the dataset. This collection MODFDS_CLM_GLB_L3 provides level 3 climatological monthly frequency of dust storms (FDS) over land from 175°W to 175°E and 80°S to 80°N at a spatial resolution of 0.1˚ x 0.1˚. It is derived from Level 2, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Deep Blue aerosol products Collection 6.1 from Terra (MOD04_L2). The dataset is the climatological monthly mean for each month averaged over 2000 to 2022.The FDS is calculated as the number of days per month when the daily dust optical depth is greater than a threshold optical depth (e.g., 0.025) with two quality flags: the lowest (1) and highest (3). It is advised to use flag 1, which is of lower quality, over dust source regions, and flag 3 over remote areas or polluted regions. Eight thresholds (0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1, 2) are saved separately in eight files. If you have any questions, please read the README document first and post your question to the NASA Earthdata Forum (forum.earthdata.nasa.gov) or email the GES DISC Help Desk (gsfc-dl-help-disc@mail.nasa.gov).

LBA-ECO LC-15 Vegetation Cover Types from MODIS, 1-km, Amazon Basin: 2000-2001
This data set contains proportional estimates for the vegetative cover types of woody vegetation, herbaceous vegetation, and bare ground over the Amazon Basin for the period 2000-2001. These products were derived from all seven bands of the Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor onboard NASA's Terra satellite. A set of MODIS 32-day composites were used to create the vegetation cover types using the Vegetation Continuous Fields (VCF) (Hansen et al., 2002) approach which shows how much of a land cover such as "forest" or "grassland" exists anywhere on the land surface. The VCF product may depict areas of heterogeneous land cover better than traditional discrete classification schemes which shows where land cover types are concentrated. The original MODIS products are 500-m spatial resolution and are derived from 2000-2001 data products. The data were resampled to 1-km resolution for the regional study under this project, and provided as 3 separate cover type files in ENVI and GeoTIFF file formats that are provided in six zipped files. These products are registered to the rest of the regional data sets over the Amazon basin. These data are also available for download from the Global Land Cover Facility Website (http://modis.umiacs.umd.edu/).
