An old Latin translation of this work, with the title ‘’Albohazen Haly filii Abenragel libri de judiciis astrorum,’’ was printed at Basil, 1551. Cf. Zeitschr. der Deutsch. morgenl. It is preceded (foll. 1-4v.) by a detailed list of the contents, which begins: يشتمل هذا الجزء على ثمانية اجزاء من الكتاب البارع فى احكام النجوم تاليف على ابن ابى الرجال الكاتب والذى فى الجزء الاوّل من هذا (sic) الاجزاء من جملة عدد الابواب ستّون بابًا. At the end of the second مقالة we also find the appendix of Abu Sahl Waijan Ḳûhî.1 Ends: و ذلك ما اردناه فهذا ما اورده ابو سهل القوهى تمت المقالة الثانية و تم بتمامها كتاب الكرة و الاسطوانة لارشميدس . Then follows immediately the second treatise, inscribed: مقالة ارشميدس فى تكسير الدائرة و هى ثلثة اشكال. An elegant copy, written in Nasta’liḳ, of the twelfth century. NAṢÎR AL-DÎN ṬÛSÎ’S edition of the Arabic version of PTOLEMY’S μεγαλη συνταξι&sigmaf;, or Almagest. It is entitled تحرير المجسطى . See Ḥ. Kh. v. 387; Cat. Mus. Brit. 187, 620, 745; Wenrich, 228. The author says in his preface: و بعد فقد كنت برهة من الزمان ‘ عازما على ان احرّر لنفسى و لسائر طلبة العلم من الاخوان ‘ كتاب المجَسْطِى المنسوب الى بطلمیوس القَلُوذىّ الذى هو الدستور العظيم ‘ لاصحاب صناعة الهيئة و التنجيم ‘ تحريرًا لا يفوته مقاصد ذلك الكتاب النظريّة ‘ و مناهجة العمليّة‘ حتى ترتيب الفصول و ابواب الحساب و رسوم الجداول و اوضاع الاشكال الخ. A valuable copy, closely written in a small hand, without diacritical points. It was completed on Tuesday, 6th Muḥarram, 722, at Sulṭânîyah, by Ḥamzah b. ‘Alî b. Ḥamzah Ḳazwînî Baihaḳî, commonly called Sa’d (al-dîn) Khurâsânî. He transcribed it from a copy which had been taken from the author’s own copy. He collated it with another MS., in Muharram of the following year, also at Sulṭânîyah, in the Madrasah Rashîdîyah. Worm-eaten. One leaf is wanting after fol. 32. It is followed (foll. 62v.-63) by two supplements, written in the same hand. The first of these is inscribed, فى تشكل الزهرة فى الفصل الثانى من المقالة العاشرة من المجسطى . The other begins: نريد ان نثبت اختلاف وقوع الخطوط فى الاشكال التى تعرف منها اوضاع مراكز افلاك عطارد الخ , and ends: تمت الرسالة و الحمد الخ . II. Foll. 63v.-67. The Spheries of MENELAUS IN Arabic, edited by MUḤAMMAD B. ABU’L-SHUKR MAGHRIBÎ. Begins:الحمد لله رب العالمين ... هذا كتاب مانالاءس فى الاشكال الكريّة تهذيب العبد الفقير الى الله محمد بن ابى الشكر المغربى الشكل الاول الخ. This edition is not mentioned anywhere. The alleged editor appears to be the father of Yaḥya b. M. b. A. Sh., the well-known astrologer, who flourished in the seventh century (see no. 769). See, for other editions of the work of Menelaus, Cat. Lugd. iii. 49 sq.; Ḥ. Kh. i. 390 (v. اكر ) , ii. 213, iii. 48; Wenrich, 210. Very closely and almost illegibly written, in a minute character, of about the same date as no. I. III. Foll. 68-135.The Astronomical Tables of ULUGH BEG, زيج الغبيك . Maḥmûd KÂSHÎ , who flourished in the earlier part of the ninth century. 1 It is called سُلَّم السماء , and also الرسالة الكمالية , from its dedication to the Wazîr Kamâl al-dîn Maḥmûd. Cf. Ḥ. Kh. iii. 610; Cat. Lugd. iii. 133; Stewart, 104. This treatise consists of eight books (مقالة) and a خاتمة . The conclusion begins: و ليكن هذا آخر ما اوردنا فى هذه الرسالة الكمالية . Legibly written in a small Nasta’liḳ hand. Dated end of Shawwâl, 850. Foll. 3 and 5 belong to an astronomical treatise in Persian, and were inserted at a later date. [Tippu.]       1 He was one of the assistants of Ulugh Beg, see Ḥ. Kh. iii. 559. The date of his death as given by the latter under the present work, viz. A.H. 919, is incorrect.

The treatise is divided into three parts (قسم) , as follows : I. فى الاصول الهندسية المحتاج اليها فى هذه الرسالة ; II. فى وضع خطوط فضل الدائر ; III. فى تتمات و تنبيهات تتعلق بالقسم الثانى . Each part consists of two chapters. III.Foll. 31-38. Two introductory treatises on Geometry and Astronomy, by an unknown author. Beginning: الحمد لله ذكر مقدمتین من الهندسة و الهيئة يستعان بهما على حدود الابواب و براهينها و بعض حدود و ذلك فى ١٤ بابا و خاتمة والله اعلم الباب الاول فى تعريف النقطة و الخط الخ. The first treatise consist of three, and the second (fol.32) of eleven chapters. They contain chiefly definitions. The two latter pieces are plainly written, by Nûr al-dîn b. Muḥammad b.
