Measurements of savanna landscap fire emission factors for CO2, CO, CH4 and N2O using a UAV-based sampling methodology

<p>This dataset contains direct measurements of biomass burning emission factors for CO<sub>2</sub>, CO, CH<sub>4</sub> and N<sub>2</sub>O.&nbsp;It includes over 4500 EF bag measurements sampled using an unmanned aerial system (UAS), and measured fuel parameters and fire severity proxies during 129 individual fires. The measurements cover a variety of savanna ecosystems in Brazil, Australia, Botswana, Zambia, South-Africa and Mozambique under different seasonal conditions, sampled over the course of six fire seasons between 2017 and 2022.&nbsp;The table in the included word file explains the individual columns in the excell file.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Photodegradation of phenol (τOH) by TiO2-based nanophotocatalysts determined in line with the SAPNet methodology

<p>The independent variable (predictor) is the intensity of photoluminescence at 398 nm and with use of logistic regression model connects ability of photocatalytic degradation of phenol (endpoint) with this experimentally derived property. The equation goes as follow:<br> 4.32(&plusmn;2.10) &ndash; 0.051(&plusmn;0.03)(PL398)</p> <p>The developed model is included into the SAPNet workflow (Structure-Activity Prediction Network). In an additional step of SAPNet workflow developed model correlates the structure of a nanomaterial to the selected endpoint- photodegradation of phenol (&tau;OH) by titanium dioxide synthesized in the presence of ionic liquids (IL).&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>Each sample is described by surface area, the amount of nitrogen and carbon atoms, ionic liquid decomposition rate (&Delta;IL), molar ratio and the type of cations and anions, that influences photoluminescence&nbsp;</p>

<p>This repository contains&nbsp;data for the manuscript:&nbsp;&quot;Unraveling a black box: An open-source methodology for the field calibration of small air quality sensors.&quot;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>This includes:</p> <p>Raw data from the low-cost prototype EarthSense Zephyrs, as well as raw data from reference instrumentation.</p> <p>SC stands for &quot;Summer Campaign&quot; and WC stands for &quot;Winter Campaign&quot;, denoting the two different campaigns assessed in this study.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong></p> <p>The last two decades have seen substantial technological advances in the development of low-cost air pollution instruments using small sensors. While their use continues to spread across the field of atmospheric chemistry, challenges remain in ensuring data quality and comparability of calibration methods. This study introduces a seven-step methodology for the field calibration of low-cost sensors using reference instrumentation with user-friendly guidelines, open access code, and a discussion of common barriers to such an approach. The methodology has been developed and is applicable for gas-phase pollutants, such as for the measurement of nitrogen dioxide (NO<sub>2</sub>) or ozone (O<sub>3</sub>). A full example of the application of this methodology to a case study in an urban environment using both Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and the Random Forest (RF) machine-learning technique is presented with relevant R code provided, including error estimation. In this case, we have applied it to the calibration of metal oxide gas-phase sensors (MOS). Results reiterate previous findings that MLR and RF are similarly accurate, though with differing limitations. The methodology presented here goes a step further than most studies by including explicit, transparent steps for addressing model selection, validation, and tuning, as well as addressing the common issues of autocorrelation and multicollinearity. We also highlight the need for standardized reporting of methods for data cleaning and flagging, model selection and tuning, and model metrics. In the absence of a standardized methodology for the calibration of low-cost sensors, we suggest a number of best practices for future studies using low-cost sensors to ensure greater comparability of research.</p>

Checkbot API raw results from Libraries, Archives and Museums websites for evaluating a data-driven Search Engine Optimization methodology

<p>Results from Checkbot API to measure and collect 341 websites compatibility on multiple SEO variables (34 variables). Checkbot API indexes the website&#39;s code to find features capable of impacting SEO performance. Each website has been tested with&nbsp;the maximum number of links allowed to be crawled equally to 10.000 per test. In this way, we retrieved data about the overall websites performance including their sub-pages, and not only the main domain names. &nbsp;A scale from 0 (lowest rate) to 100 (highest rate) was adopted for each examined variable. This constitutes a useful managerial indicator of dealing with the quantification of websites performance while avoiding complex measurement systems that are difficult to be adopted by administrators. Data for: A Benchmark Engineering Methodology to Measure the Overhead of Application-Level Monitoring

<p>Application-level monitoring frameworks, such as Kieker, provide insight into the inner workings and the dynamic behavior of software systems. However, depending on the number of monitoring probes used, these frameworks may introduce significant runtime overhead. Consequently, planning the instrumentation of continuously operating software systems requires detailed knowledge of the performance impact of each monitoring probe.</p> <p>In this paper, we present our benchmark engineering approach to quantify the monitoring overhead caused by each probe under controlled and repeatable conditions. Our developed MooBench benchmark provides a basis for performance evaluations and comparisons of application-level monitoring frameworks. To evaluate its capabilities, we employ our benchmark to conduct a performance comparison of all available Kieker releases from version 0.91 to the current release 1.8.</p> <p>This dataset supplements the paper and contains the raw experimental data as well as several generated diagrams for each experiment.</p>

Data from: Methodological artefacts cause counter-intuitive evolutionary conclusions in a simulation study

<p>In their simulation study, Garcia-Costoya et al. (2023) conclude that evolutionary constraints might aid populations facing climate change. However, we are concerned that this conclusion is largely a consequence of the simulated temperature variation being too small, and, most importantly, that uneven limitations to standing variation disadvantage unconstrained populations.</p>

EnergyPROSPECTS Energy Citizenship Factsheet Series, Part 1: Introduction and Methodology

<p>This document is Part 1 of the EnergyPROSPECTS Factsheet Series summarising the methodology used for collecting and presenting the data as well as introducing the database.</p> <p>We have created the Series to publish the results of a mapping of energy citizenship in Europe, along with the first stage of our analysis of the respective data. The EnergyPROSPECTS consortium mapped 596 cases of energy citizenship between November 2020 and May 2021 using desk research, collecting data on many aspects of the cases. Although the analysis is a work in progress, we believe it is important to share our data and, through doing this, contribute to the understanding of energy citizenship in Europe.</p> <p>EnergyPROSPECTS (PROactive Strategies and Policies for Energy Citizenship Transformation), a H2020 project between 2021-2024, works with a critical understanding of energy citizenship that is grounded in state-of-the-art social sciences and humanities (SSH) insights.</p>
