Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature: Mars: MOLA global images
These maps display regional feature names and boundaries of regional features of Mars approved by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
MOLA PRECISION RADIOMETRY DATA RECORD
The Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter not only provides surface topography from the laser pulse time-of-flight, but also two radiometric measurements, the active measurement of transmitted and reflected laser pulse energy, and the passive measurement of reflected solar illumination. The passive radiometry measurement is accomplished in a novel fashion by monitoring the noise density at the output of the photodetector and solving for the amount of background light. The passive radiometry measurements provide images of Mars at 1064-nm wavelength over a 2 nm bandwidth with sub-km spatial resolution and with 2% or better precision under full illumination.
MOLA INITIAL EXPERIMENT GRIDDED DATA RECORD
The Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft included a laser altimeter instrument. The primary objective of the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) is to determine globally the topography of Mars at a level suitable for addressing problems in geology and geophysics.
MOLA PRECISION EXPERIMENT DATA RECORD ASCII TABLES
The Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft included a laser altimeter instrument. The primary objective of the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) is to determine globally the topography of Mars at a level suitable for addressing problems in geology and geophysics.
MOLA INITIAL EXPERIMENT GRIDDED DATA RECORD
The IEGDR product is a global map of planetary radius, areiod, topography, and number of observations, derived from MOLA PEDR products and aggregated into latitude-longitude bins. The IEGDR is released in two formats, an ASCII table and an image. The table (this data set) has one row for each latitude-longitude bin, from 90 to -90 degrees latitude and from 0 to 360 degrees longitude. Values for planetary radius, areoid, topography, and number of observations per bin are stored as columns in the table.

MOLA MISSION EXPERIMENT GRIDDED DATA RECORD
The Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft includes a laser altimeter instrument. The primary objective of the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) is to determine globally the topography of Mars at a level suitable for addressing problems in geology and geophysics. The MOLA Experiment Gridded Data Record (EGDR) is a topographic map of Mars based on altimetry data acquired by the MOLA instrument and accumulated over the course of the mission. The Mission Experiment Gridded Data Record (MEGDR), consists of data accumulated over the whole primary mission.
MOLA AGGREGATED EXPERIMENT DATA RECORD
The MOLA AEDR data set contains the raw altimetry measurements acquired by the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter on the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft. The AEDR data are used as input to the MOLA Precision Experiment Data Record (PEDR) data set, in which the altimetry data have been corrected according to precise measurements of the orbit. The PEDR data set is preferred for science analysis.
MOLA SPHERICAL HARMONICS TOPOGRAPHY MODEL
The Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft included a laser altimeter instrument. The primary objective of the Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter (MOLA) is to determine globally the topography of Mars at a level suitable for addressing problems in geology and geophysics.
