Sea Mammal Scapula with holes and modifications. XCB-105-4115. Shovel or Scoop. 400 BCE-100 CE XCB-105 Adamagan (Aleut for place of walrus hunters) is at the head of Morzhovoi Bay, western Alaska Peninsula. It is a massive village with multiple occupations. When it was occupied 400 BCE-100 CE, it was the largest village in the Arctic with an estimated 1000 people. It also has limited occupations dated 2200-1700 BCE, 1000-600 BCE, and 900-1100 CE. The Western Alaska Peninsula artifacts are presented as a result of the research conducted under grants NSF 9630072, NSF 9814086, NSF 9996372, NSF 9996415, NSF 1139266, NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator. These artifacts were scanned with either a Faro Edge Arm or a Minolta Vivid 9i. Processed in Geomagic or Polyworks. 2-8 photos were used for texture in Geomagic Wrap. Original digitizing work done at the IVL at Id. St. Univ. Replica Scapula Hoe

Replica scapula hoe (Catalog # 2002:226.166), a part of the Michigan State University Museum's Archaeology Teaching Collection. This tool, created by Toby Morrow, is composed of a bison scapula attached to a split-wood handle by strips of hide. In the past, chipped stone and scapula hoes were used in agriculture to break up and move soil for growing crops. Dimensions: approximately 102cm (L) x 38cm (W) x 19cm (H), weight= 1632.9g This 3D model was created by Jeff Painter using an Artec Space Spider and Artec Studio 14 Professional, in partnership with the MSU Digital Heritage Imaging and Innovation (DHI) Lab. Modified Scapula Tool, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U25 Okada excavations HHU, Level 3. Hot Springs 2B. 500-800 CE. The Hot Springs site is a massive village on the shore of Port Moller, on the Alaska Peninsula side of the southern Bering Sea. It was excavated by several different teams over the last 100 years. The main occupations are from 2000 BCE-1000 BCE, and from 100 CE to 800 CE. Hippopotamus Right Scapula

This is the right scapula (shoulder blade) of a juvenile hippopotamus (*Hippopotamus amphibius*) skeleton given to the Lapworth Museum by Russell Coope. Its broad surface and large spine and acromion would anchor powerful shoulder and neck muscles in life.
